About pach1908
My Epinions.Com Commmmittment To Excellence 1) If drunk, edit the next morning. Okay, more like late the next afternoon. Then send out. 2) Late the next afternoon, remember you sent it off drunkenly, before editing, the night before. 3) Notice that that review is getting ratings of "Very Helpful" or "Helpful" anyway. 4) If at Epinions.com, click on "My Account" so I can get money off the review before I delete it. 5) Repost new review. Hope others will accidentally re-visit thinking it's brand new. A quick one, before I begin: The award for Best Video Rental store in Central Illinois goes to: The Movie Fan on Beaufort St. in downtown Normal, Illinois. Best foreign selection, best indie selection. A decent selection of new stuff, but if you really need Rash Hour 2, go to Crockbluster or wherever. The best critics are just the opposite of Pavlov's dogs. If the art isn't something new, we're just not going to be interested. Whenever there's sudden loud music in a thriller, I have the opposite reaction. I get bored and I'm beginning to think that if I were to put my mind to it, I could get in a good nap. As you can tell, I have a very simple philosophy of reviewing. Keep it straight and simple and pull no punches. Something pesses you off, put it down like a three-legged 24 year old dog. Something makes you happy, quote it, reference it, love it down to the bone every chance you can. I very rarely edit or go back to consciously shape or re-think, as the heat of opinion is the most honest and direct (but I do think and shape as I'm writing. Phrasing and clarity are most important)

I consider the review to be an art form itself. When I "rate" a review, my rating is based not on whether or not I happen to agree, but on the aesthetic of the review itself. Is it well-written? Does it go into detail. Is it's language firm of purpose? I prefer reviews that bleed passion and try to shape that passion into an artery of intelligence. My reviews sometimes bleed all over the floor because I love so much the all the ideas music, film, poetry, literature, and love bring to the table of life.
