About Pffrdfdus7
I'm back! Well, sorta...since I've been done with school for awhile and haven't had a whole lot of luck finding a career yet I've had a fair share of free time. So I've been writing a bit here and there for fun. I'm not sure how frequently I will post new reviews but I'm going to try as often as I can despite the extensive amount of time I labor over my writing. I can't believe how long I've been a member of this site, signing up circa 2000 when I was about 16 and find it further amazing that I grew up partly on Epinions.

While it's tempting to purge my account's archives of all my terrible old reviews (which I already did some years back, expelling the earliest and most embarrasingly underwritten ones) I suppose it's amusing in its own way to be able to look back at the way I wrote and thought during those years, as hilariously pretentious and overwritten as the majority of them are. Those old reviews do, however, suggest a youthful exuberance for intellectual ambition if nothing else. I never thought the site would last this long and would like to thank everyone that ever read my work and encouraged me.

If you are interested in hearing some of the music of my absurdly prolific solo project, Neon Icon, check out my free music blog: neonicon.blogspot.com but in the meantime you can check out a handful of songs right here with this soundcloud media player...

PFFRDFDUS7: THE ORIGIN STORY

Back when I was regularly active on this site I had an explanation in this bio section for anyone curious about the origin of my lamentably obscure and difficult to remember account handle (PFFRDFDUS7), so I might as well explain it once again. When I initially signed up on epinions I didn't take it seriously and never thought my membership and activity would be anywhere near as long and extensive as it's been so I just made up an acronym essentially, comprised of some of my favorite films at the time. The acronym is broken down thusly: PF (Pulp Fiction) F (Fargo) RD (Reservoir Dogs) FD (Falling Down) US (The Usual Suspects) 7 (Se7en). Inevitably, as a child primarily of the '90s, additionally one obsessed with movies, I was perhaps part of the Tarantino-fuelled wave of video shop geeks that indulged in Tarantino's tendency for film noir violence without really understanding the depth of his extreme genre exercises. But I digress, the name has always been the bane of my Epinions existence because as my interest and activity on the site increased the more I wished I had come up with something else, or at least a pronouncable word. Because Epinions has never had the option to change account names (as far as I know) I've been stuck with this albatross of a moniker, but I suppose I've grown used to it and don't really mind it anymore.
