I am married to a wonderful guy, Techjunkie, and we've just had a little girl on Feb 15, 2003. We're very excited, and it's quite a shock to find myself reading reviews on kids products! We also have two beloved kitties to keep us company.
I'm swamped. I am currently trying to complete my PhD (lots of analyses & writing left) and spend as much time with my daughter as is possible (lots of interrupted work at home). By necessity, I have to be sporadic. I am working on locating genes involved in bipolar disorder. Behavioral genetics = fascinating but very complex.

About my epinions
All my epinions share my personal experience (I will not review something I have merely seen in the store). I try to share the information about a product that I genuinely like to know. Depending on the product, this can include copious details.

About my ratings:
I try to honestly rate epinions by how useful they would be to a consumer, and I am a moderate in my interpretation of Epinions guidelines. I try not to let others' ratings influence how I rate - I just judge on how helpful your epinion is to me and rate it accordingly. I don't really find epinions that regurgitate instruction manuals or directions to be very helpful (and when epinions don't give credit for "copying" instructions I also consider that plagiarism). owling wrote a great epinion about how she rates, and it conveys many more of my thoughts on rating as well. Ratings will always be subjective, no matter how hard we try. BTW, if you have a question about why I rated an epinion a certain way, feel free to e-mail me. It is possible that I could've clicked the wrong button.
Tit-for-tat - I'm not into that. As regards the WOT, I don't think about it a lot, so I have only added people sporadically. When I do add someone, it's because I imagine that I would trust their opinion in real life, and they write at least some of their epinions on topics that interest me. There are lots of good writers on the site that write about things that are only marginally interesting to me.
I am flattered by those who have added me to their WOT. Thanks! I will to try to check you out, but I really am a graduate student, and I do want to finish someday, so give me a little slack if I haven't stopped by your profile yet. I'm one of those slow-to-trust-but-loyal-when-I-do type of people anyway...
