Married with one daughter.
Educated as an Electrical Engineer (MSEE), but currently working as a Software Development Manager of a 36 person team. I've been involved with computers since the late 70's and have worked full-time in the software industry since 1990.
I used to have a lot of hobbies, but after marriage and a child it's been whittled down to a core set of interests: photography, movies, books, and coffee.
I also like to shop but I try to be frugal. One of my strategies to control my spending rate is to procrastinate through research. If I immerse myself in the minutiae of various options, I can hold myself in a state of indecision until I either loose interest or I am very confident in finding exactly the right product. My other shopping principle is Smart Frugality: save money but don't be foolishly cheap. Otherwise you may end up spending more in the long run.
My interest in shopping is why I've lurked around in epinions.com, although parenting has given me precious little time to do much writing except sporadically. I hope that the few reviews I have posted have been useful to folks.
I also think it's kind of interesting to get to know people through the very narrow perspective of what they shop for. I don't presume that this is who we all really are (otherwise we'd be a frighteningly materialistic cohort), but it is a fascinating perspective. And hopefully comes from a desire to help others.
