About rEoMendel
Hi. Welcome to my world.

One: I'm currently a twenty-six year old graduate student in Music: Composition. I'm trying to be, anyway. I don't know how successful I am. I'd love some epinions on that too. If you have the inclination, visit my web site, drop me an e-mail. I promise i'll be friendly. ;)

Two: Some interests: computers, sci-fi, marching band/drum corps/indoor drum line, straight pool and snooker, creating e-pinions or opinions in general that haven't already been given.

Three: Nothing interests me more than getting criticism and feedback about what I write and what I do, so please don't hesitate to give me your thoughts.

Four: The web of trust seems to be a mixed up kind of politic, and mixed up politics are what I try to avoid. Plus, being a full time graduate student eats up a lot of my time. I don't have the time to read a lot of epinions at the moment, so therefore i can't accurately assess if someone should go on my web of trust. Therefore I'm rather hesitant to put people on my web of trust. I won't be offended if you don't put me on yours.

Five: It seems odd that I'm a composition major, and yet I haven't written any epinions on music. I think part of that comes from the fact that music is such a subjective thing to review. Maybe i'll get around to reviewing some music I like, but just for now, I'll say that the music I listen to most falls under:

Twentieth Century "Classical" - like Steve Reich, John Adams, Bang On A Can, etc.
Other forms of "Classical" - partiuclarly early twentieth century, early classical, romantic, and baroque. I don't like Wagner.
Techno/Industrial - like Squarepusher, Plaid, Aphex Twin, KMFDM, Future Sound of London, Old NiN, Nitzer Ebb, etc.
Rap - like Busta Rhymes and Public Enemy. Not so much into "pop hip hop" stuff.
Heavy Metal - like Pantera, Meshuggah, Slayer, Anthrax, etc.
Weird and Creative Stuff - like old Sugarcubes/Bjork, Primus, Einsterzende Neubaten, Enigma, Fishbone
Things in Odd Time Signatures - like Dream Theater, Pat Metheny Group, Yes, Rush, and some of the others mentioned above. But not Yanni.
Microtonal Music - like the Charles Ives pieces for two pianos tuned a quarter step apart, the Harry Partch 43-note scale, the Catler Brothers, and Balinese Gamelan.

buzz-gok!

The easy reference to all of my current epinions are present here.

The Vlad Taltos Series

Jhereg - and why Steven Brust is my favourite author
Yendi - and why the past is clever.
Teckla - and why this book deserves a lot of respect
Taltos - and a commentary on what order to read the books in.
Phoenix - and a soap box blurb on the evolution of art.
Athyra - as a personal experiment to have a more detailed structure to my book reviews.

Music Creation

Korg X5D - my MIDI synthesizer.
Finale - my music notation software.

Video Games

Chrono Cross - a playstation RPG put out by Square.
Mr. Driller - a playstation puzzle game by Namco

Movies

Unbreakable - it's my favourite movie of all time, but my epinion of it is horrible. Don't read it.
A Comparative of Sixth Sense and Unbreakable - which does much more justice to my love of both films.
Highlander: Endgame - Just Say No to great series translating badly on the big screen.

Random

Phillips AZ748317 - personal CD player.
Epinions Beta - when the current epinions was new.
MP3 file-sharing politics - Just Say No to the RIAA.
