My Ratings - Why and HowMar 03 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I have been writing and rating reviews since October 99 and have seen both fantastic insightful epinions, as well as useless jabbering epinions. Each time I read an epinion I rate it, both to keep track of the epinions I would like to refer to later and to help those in my Web of Trust. The rating scale below summarizes how I rate: Highly Recommend These are exceptionally useful reviews. They contain product info in an easy to read format and include personal experiences. These are the epinions which I find to be very helpful when I am looking for product information. Recommend This is either a review with good product information and general product opinions or a review that is entirely product specs. While product specs are important in picking a product, these can usually be found on any product web site. Since it is the opinion part of the site I find valuable, I don’t feel that reviews entirely listing product specs help me find out the products durability and reliability Somewhat Recommended These epinions usually don't provide much product/opinion information or have very poor grammar. Not Recommended I generally reserve this rating for epinions which: - repeat the same word(s) to make 100 words - that are offensive (includes cursing or crude imagery) - that are not about the product Originally, I enjoyed the venting about product problems and recommending products I loved. Later I found that I was learning a great deal about other products on the market. Soon I was addicted and found that I now refer to the site before I buy anything! So thanks to everyone who has made it a great resource! Also, it is important to me that I rate fairly and keep my ratings up to date. Therefore, if you updated any epinion which I rated (especially if I did not "highly recommend" it) please let me know. I will re-read it and possibly re-rate it. In the past, I have received some great feedback from other who have helped me improve my epinions. I hope that I can help others as well.  |
