What I do....

When I write an Epinion I think about what I want to communicate with any person about what I am writing about.

I always ask myself:

1. Am I in the mood to write about anything right now?
2. Do I know enough about the subject material to give a valid review?
3. Do I have the time to write a good review?
4. How many reviews are already on this subject?

I read someone's review in this category recently and totally agreed, if I'm not in a good mood, sleepy, in a hurry or whatever, I won't write a good review that benefits the members and visitors of this site.

Same goes for knowledge. I think, depending on the category, you should list pro's and con's for the subject your writing about. This won't work on all categories but should for most. This gives your reader the knowledge of both the good and the bad. If you only write about the bad, no one knows what was good about the product. Maybe the bad to you isn't the bad to someone else or maybe you might have purchased a lemon that someone else might not get.

If there are 300 reviews written on this subject, typically I will not add my comments. That tends to just add more drama to a category that is already filled with many reviews, mostly all stating alot of the same things.

I never read anyone else's review before writing my own in most cases. I don't want their thoughts to be transcended into my own writing. I think your Epinion should be your own work and if it happens to coincide with another review's opinion, that's great, that's what you want but you want your experience to be your own. I also think reading someone else's review gives some people more verbage to use in their own, whether they actually have an opinion on the issue or not. If you go and read 4 or 5 Epinions on a topic, you too can write one on the same thing and get paid for it. It avoids obvious plagarism but is still plagarism in my book.

For most of my Epinions, I stick with two different categories that I know very well. Most of my Epinions are written in Finance and Magazines. I get dozens of magazines a week and read them and I am an avid investor and money making person. I have tons of credit cards that I have used and use many of the Finance items listed. With my experience, those are the things that I write about mose. You will find some Epinions in other categories, my car, my favorite beer, etc, but I tend to stick to the categories that I live on a day by day basis. That allows me to write more detailed and more informative reviews for readers.

Just be aware that your reviews are being read by people who need information and make sure you write informative, concise reviews that are your own Epinion and your own experience. This site is phenominal in it's scope and creativity and we need to keep it that way!
