Outside or Inside?

As every one knows by now Epinions has changed again. Most people don't like changes. But in time people get use to the new rules and life goes on as usual. There can be stress if changes occur to rapidly. Epinions is too rapid in their changes.
This leads me to believe that maybe the idea behind Epinions is not what it appears to be. We are told that we are to write reviews to help people make decisions on products or choices. But are we the product or choice?
Let me try to explain. I use to work for a market research firm. We worked for advertisement companies. Sometimes we would give out products to be tested in order to get feed back so the companies would know how a product would sell.
The kicker was that the product was not always what was being tested but the packaging was. We had a cleaning product account. We gave out two bottles of this cleaner out to people, Product A and Product B. After people had time to test these products we would call them and do a survey on the products.
Most people would say product so and so was better because it cleaned up stains better than the other one. Once in a while some one would comment product so and so was easier to use because of the design of the handle. Bingo, that is what we were looking for. Not what was inside the bottle because the same thing was in both bottles but how the cleaner was packaged.
This leads me to think maybe the products here are not what is being tested. Maybe we are being tested. Maybe this site is being funded by a research facility studying mental health. How many people will stay under extreme and constant changes? How will people change the way they interact with others? Will they rate fellow epinion writers lower in order to be seen by the public masses or remain loyal to their friends and rate fairly?
Of course this is just a joke. I'm sure Epinions is really wanting us to help others in their quest for better products. Or are they? Insert the Twilight Theme here.
