When do I read/rate someone's work?

The Bottom Line The Web of Trust is a way to keep track of friends on Epinions, that you would like to keep going back to read their reviews.
It seems everyone has to say how they rate, and how their Web of Trust works. Well, if you're on my WOT, or want to be, here are my "guide lines"...
How to get aboard:
To be on my web of trust, you must be interesting. That's pretty much the only rule. If you exclusively write sci-fi reviews, chances are, I'm not going to want to catch up on those daily. However, if you write on odd-topics now and then, I do read all the work from the member of my WOT. Secondly, to be on my Web of Trust, you must have decent punctuation and spelling. I'm not a stickler, but if I can't get through a paragraph because I keep thinking of bad spelling, forget it. I don't want to give my WOT members bad ratings. If you feel that you're the type of person that should be on my Web of Trust, you can either email me, or add me to your own WOT. Whenever I am added, I take some time to rate and review the other persons current Epinions, and then decide whether to add to my own Web of Trust.
My Web of Trust
Since there are a lot of Epinions out here in the Epinion world, I usually only read and rate people who have read and rated my work. I've just cleared out my Web of Trust, after reading a lot of Epinions on the Web of Trust. I added a lot of people right at the beginning when I started with Epinions, like an Epinions "sleaze". I always thought that was a touching title, even though you can't state the exact term any longer. I'm trying to read and rate more people that aren't exclusively on my list, but it's starting to grow again.
Did I miss your great Epinion?
I'm also trying to go through my WOT to all the old epinions that I previously did not have time to rate.
Maybe I'm just odd that way.
I do rate fairly, and I read a wide range of items. I like to go into categories and read the "top" five worst epinions. I think I like to see how badly some people write ;) On the other hand, sometimes you are surprised and see that they have a lot of Very Helpfuls, Helpfuls, and Somewhat helpfuls. Just the few "Not helpful at all" bring them down. I wish there were people that had some sort of ultimate rule about how the rating was done.

One last thing about my Web of Trust... I often ask for email updates for my trusted Epinion-ers. However, if you're new to my WOT, feel free to email me and wonder why I haven't browsed some of your 'pinions ;)
Don't like how I rate?
I've been getting a lot of comments that say things like I rate too easily, or I spend too much time rating one person's work. I'm sure those people complaining, wouldn't be complaining if it was their work I was rating. "tsk tsk" Please don't leave me harsh comments - I just might have to write a review about you!
