The Web of Trust....it can be a tangled mess!!

I have been reading a lot of reviews on the subject of the Web Of Trust, so I thought it was time I voiced my Epinion on the subject!
The main reason I wanted to write this review is because I am fairly new to the Epinions Community, and now that I have the hang of things, I wanted to voice my feelings on this matter. And this is mainly for the people who are interested in my reviews, so they can see how I decide who to add to my WOT.
First of all, the WOT is very important to me. I do not take it lightly when someone chooses to add me to their WOT. Nine times out of ten, I will e-mail those people to heartily thank them for doing so. The only time I don't do this is if the person does not have an e-mail address on their profile page. And if you already have me on your WOT, again THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I hope I never disappoint any of you.
Secondly, I love meeting new people in the Epinions Community, and I am always looking for people to trust. I don't know if this is necessarily a "good" or "bad" thing, but I am looking to broaden the spectrum of writers from whom I read. I love to stumble upon a great writer, or a newbie, and read several of their reviews...only to find that I really admire their personality and their work, especially if I AGREE with everything they have said. I have always been a great judge of character, and I do not add people to my WOT just because I can.
Some of the things that help me determine who to add to my WOT:
-I don't know if this is acceptable for everyone in Epinions, but sometimes I add people to my WOT on the spot...after doing some reading of course! But there are just some people that I hit it off with from the start. This is not always the case, and I am careful about it, but it does happen occasionally.
- I will always read several of a person's reviews before I even consider adding them to my WOT, no matter who they are, or if they have trusted me first. I always read the editorial type reviews first (if there are any) because these are the Epinions that show you the true person. In these you can see what this person believes, and how they feel about different "life issues". This is a major determinant for me.
- I will also ALWAYS read the person's personal profile VERY CAREFULLY! I want to know as much as I can about someone before I will consider trusting them. Sometimes, I can determine whether or not to trust someone just by their profile. It's not very hard to see if someone is just here for the hits. Now, I love the money-making here as much as anyone, but I also love to write and enjoy sharing my viewpoint with others. This site is about helping others make the best decision in many areas of life...this is why I am here!
- I also look at your WOT to see who is on there. If you have a person on there that I know I do not trust, for a BIG reason, I will probably not add you to my WOT right away. However, if I am leaning towards trusting you...but I'm not quite sure...I will more than likely add you to my e-mail alerts so I can give it some time.
- I always take advice from other members that I already trust. If someone I have on my WOT recommends another writer to me, I will always check them out. And most of the time they will end up on MY WOT too. I will always heed advice from other Epinioners...but ESPECIALLY from those I know and trust already.
- I do not add someone to my WOT just because they have added me to theirs. You will see this on my profile page..."So you trust me? I AM GLAD...but if you want to make me really happy, add me to your email alerts!" I absolutely love it when someone adds me to their email alerts! This shows me that they really enjoy my writing and that they want to know what I have to say about anything and everything...THIS IS THE ULTIMATE TRUST! There is not ONE person on my WOT that is not also on my email alert list! I feel the 2 almost go hand in hand (to a certain degree of course). If you do add me to your WOT first, I will most definitely check out your profile and reviews, and I will consider adding you to mine (once you have met my criteria).
I hope I have not offended anyone with my methods of trusting! I know everyone has their own standards, and this is just my personal take on the matter!
Again, to all of you who trust me...THANK YOU SO MUCH! I hope I will trust and be trusted by many more of you fellow Epinioners! Looking forward to meeting many more of you and reading your fine work!
