Read, Rate, then Trust

I've been a member of Epinions for a few months and have built a WOT of people that, obviously, I trust. That's the point, right?
Concerning my WOT: These are people whose epinions I have read, of course. My process usually goes like this - After I read the first one, I will rate it. If I like what I have read, I will read and rate another (unless time prevents it). Who knows? I may read them all! Some of you write so well that I just can't get enough!
Then, more often than not, the reading and rating gets reciprocated. Those that reciprocate are appreciated and the system is great. It's how we work and play well together on this site.
If I am added to someone's WOT, I am touched. It makes me feel like I'm contributing, like my epinions have helped in some small way to make your life better. (Grand thoughts, huh?!) Now, the identities of the ones adding me to their WOT should be familiar, right? I should have seen their name a couple of times when they have rated my reviews. So, when I'm added to their WOT, and I feel the mutual feeling of trust, that they are helping me, I will add them to mine. This is not always the order, sometimes I add people and they reciprocate (or not, but that's okay).
Okay, finally, here's my point: Sometimes I see a new name, one I've never seen before who has added me to their WOT. I think, "Who are they? Let's check to see if they read my reviews today while I was at work." I look at my reviews, and low and behold I do not see their name anywhere. They have not rated any of my reviews! Maybe they've read every review I've written here. But, if they haven't rated any of my reviews, how do I know they've read them? If they haven't read my reviews, how can they trust me? There are also some that read and rate only one review, then decide they trust me. I just can't understand this.
Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but I'm just so perplexed about this. I want to help everyone that's gracious enough to read what I write. I rely on this site for decisions and help, also, especially my WOT! So, please, please, read, rate, then trust if you feel you my opinions are worthy. Thanks for reading and I appreciate any comments.
