Honesty is hardly ever heard and mostly what I need from you... Not only a great song ( Billy Joel ) , but a good thought when building your web of trust..
When I first started I really had no clue how I should use my web of trust.. I figured after I wrote an epinion and someone would rate I would add them to my list.. Then when I went and started reading others epinions and the ones I enjoyed I would add them too.. Nothing at all wrong with doing this is there? I never thought so until I had over 300 people on my web of trust..
Well a few weeks ago i discovered that i was hidden to people i trusted.. I could not understand why they could not see my name on there list.. I went through all the editing options and saw there was no way to make my name visible to these people.. Then I was told by another member that unless i had under 200 people on my web of trust i would show as hidden.. Well I have never liked the hidden option at all and this made me like it even less.. Well i went through my list of people and went to each of there sites.. First I removed the ones that seemed to be no longer active doing epinions anymore.. Then i went through and checked if the ones on my list had been rating any of my recent epinions or not.. Now I don't put just the people who rate my stuff as the ones I trust.. I do feel though if you have someone who trusts you that you should make it a point to check out there epinions and rate them.. I have now over 300 people who trust me and I really try hard to always check those people epinions first and rate them.. I also think its a very good idea to have epinions e-mail you when those people who trust you write a new epinion..
To me if someone trusts me and are serious about who they trust, I have the responsibility to show them they made a good choice..
I do wish Epinions would change there hidden option because i do want people to see that I trust there epinions and value there views.. I don't think it's right to trust anyone and everyone, Be serious about who you trust and make an effort to each of them.. Until epinions changes the hidden thing I will keep my trust list under 200( it's almost there again ughh ), but please if your not on my list don't be upset if it was up to me I probably would have 400 or more.. There are so many very good writers who really take this place seriously and deserve to be on my and everyone's WOT..
