All of My Reviews Have An "R" In Them

Aug 05 '00

This has to be one of the most controversial subjects on Epinions. Each one of us has differing criteria as to what constitutes a great review versus what is just an average review. Someone may rate a review "HR" while another epinions member may rate a review as just "R". Some people hold steadfast to the idea that a review must contain one hundred words while others will HR a review with less than one hundred words if it is brilliantly written and contains everything the reader needs to know. I will talk about how I rate.

What Am I Looking For

Facts, well thought out ideas, makes me think, humor... these are just a couple of the things that I am looking for when reviewing and analyzing an epinion. I want an epinion that describes the product and/or service completely and honestly. If I feel as though I learned something new, than I will HR the epinion because I believe that is what the site is about. The exchange of new ideas between members to increase our knowledge.

It is almost like a virtual library in where people can learn about other things continuously so if I learn something new from a fellow member that is something I have to highly recommend because I have increased my knowledge base. It does not have to have perfect spelling to be HR.

Also, a highly recommended is one that generates an emotion in me whether that is laughter or sadness. It has been said that the greatest writing is one which changes the mood of the reader. The power of great writing is incredible.

A recommended review is one which is average. It is well written but nothing brilliant. It basically gives correct facts but nothing outstanding. It has occasional spelling errors. A recommend rating from myself is not a negative comment, it just means something is missing from the epinion to make it outstanding.

A somewhat recommended epinion is poorly written and contains inaccuracies. It also has numerous spelling errors. It does not express thoughts clearly. It is something that did not really increase my knowledge at all.

A NR epinion. I think you know what this constitutes. There is no reason to discuss it further really. It would be a waste of time.

So in conclusion, if an epinion is very well written, has a lot of feeling and passion to it, is full of facts, and is accurate, it will be highly recommended by this reader. Thanks a lot for reading my epinion.
