Show the World what you think!

Reading and rating reviews at Epinions.com has to be the most important thing to this community of individuals striving to make a difference in the world. Whether you are one to rate "Highly Recommended" or one to rate "Not Recommended," is the key to successful ratings of your reviews.
When rating reviews make a conscious effort to not see who has actually written the review. Rate it as though you have no idea who wrote it. This way whether you “Highly Recommend” it or “Not Recommend” it, you don’t have to feel like you are being compelled to rate it a certain way. I believe it’s very important to make comment on any review that you find appealing or that you rate “Not Recommended.” Either way try to make a comment so the writer knows whether or not you enjoy their writing technique or if they didn’t get the idea or point across.
Ratings should not be anonymous; they should be for all to see. Is there a reason why some hide? Probably so, what that reason is I wish I knew. Some do it just because they rate everything that way (most anonymous raters "Not Recommended" the reviews) and they don’t feel they have to make a comment that way. THAT IS WRONG! I have read some great reviews (and left comments to that effect) that I have seen "Not Recommended" by anonymous raters. I know how irritating that can be. There are no comments and others wonder what they did wrong or if it’s in retaliation for a rating they gave. I have also noticed a lot of people rate reviews “Not Recommended” when they notice it is an expert writing the review. WHY? That has to be the most immature reason to rate a review "Not Recommended." But I chalk it up to experience and expect it every time I write a new review. I am not offended anymore by this action – I actually smile because they just paid me by rating it regardless of their rating.
I am not embarrassed nor am I ashamed to rate a review “Not Recommended” regardless of who wrote it. No one should be. I am an honest person. If you disagree with why I rated it a certain way, then email me, I will be more then glad to come back and review it again. I always leave a comment when I rate an opinion "Not Recommended" or "Somewhat Recommended" with what I am looking to gain from the review. I will rate any review that is offensive, vulgar or sexual "Not Recommended." Even these I leave a comment on why. I also report them to abuse. These writers are not helping anyone to make a good decision.
I have noticed recently how many recipe reviews there are. I am not sure I understand why everyone is writing recipe reviews when there are so many products and services out there to write about. I have decided not to rate anymore recipe reviews because I don’t feel they show off the best side of a writer. Almost everyone cooks, and almost everyone has a favorite recipe or two, but not 20 or 30 that they post within three to five days and write nothing else but them. How can you honestly rate a recipe if you haven’t even tried it yet? I wrote one, but have decided that I will write no more. I can go to any website on the web for recipes. Lets see some more products and services being reviewed then recipes ok?
As always when rating a review be honest and fair. Don’t rate it “Not Recommended” because you had a different opinion on the product or service. Rate it for the information that is included in the review. Was it informative? Did it give details or descriptions? Did it make you want to try it out or purchase it? This is what should be rated, not because you disagree with the actual review. This has to be the most important factor when rating reviews by any member of Epinions.com.
I rate reviews accordingly. You can see how I rate reviews on my profile page. Each and every person has his or her own writing style. What is right for one is not always right for another. Just be sure your open minded and fair, which is all we can ask of everyone.
