Rating's and WOT!Feb 21 '00 Write an essay on this topic. What make’s a good review? What make’s me Highly Recommend a review? What makes me Not Recommend a review? What make’s me add an individual to my Web Of Trust? These are the question’s that we all should be asking ourselves before moving any further. Rating’s: 1) Highly Recommend: This should be a well-written review of a product or service. It should be well punctuated and spelled correctly. It should detail the good and the bad. These opinions normally have some humor or something to make me think. They should have a true-life experience involved. The paragraphs should be spaced to make it easier to read. Bring things to my attention by bolding or italics. Also looking for sign’s that this was not written in 5 minutes but rather time was taken to write this review. 2) Recommend: This review is normally showing all the above, except for the fact that it has misspelling errors or that the content is not as complete. Maybe the paragraphs weren’t broken up for easy reading. Maybe as much time wasn’t taken to make this a HR. 3) Somewhat Recommend: These reviews are just 100 words. They reflect only one side. They do not reflect any detail. Example: Nintendo Game – Good game, new characters added, great graphics etc… As you can see they don’t tell me anything about the object or what the game details are. Spelling is bad, no capitalization, and all is one paragraph. 4) Don’t Recommend: Well it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to say; I love it, I love it, I love it, 100 times. These opinions, have no information, they have vulgarities, they are biased or racist. I don’t want to hear about anyone’s sex life. Or how someone had breast implants and is really hot. These opinions, I do report to abuse, so be prepared. Writing good review’s are very important when it comes to building a web of trust. Do some research. Make sure all your fact’s are in order before hitting the submit button. Add as much detail as possible, include real life experience and most of all enjoy writing the review! I know that it may take me a day before I write a review to be submitted. I go over it and over it before submitting it. I am proud of my reviews because of that. I know I have done a lot of work and a lot of research. Anyone who sees my review’s will get information not just a few line’s. Web of Trust: This is a very personal decision for anyone involved in Epinions.com. Each and every one of us has our own insights on writing abilities. We all look for something different. I personally don’t believe that anyone should add a person to their WOT just because they are an expert or because they are Most popular reviewer. You should read at least 10 opinions (if not more) before making the decision to add them to your WOT. You should read their opinions in the areas that interest you. You should NOT add a person to YOUR WOT just because they added you. This is an individual decision not a decision to be made lightly. This is like a reputation. Remember in school everyone has a reputation, good or bad, well look at it that way. Who do you really trust and whom don’t you trust. What ever you decide to write about or any person you decide to add to your WOT, is YOUR decision. Don’t let other’s make those decisions for you. You don’t let other’s choose your friends, do you? Final note: I love reading everyone’s ideas and thought’s. I love to hear review’s on products and services that I am interested in including some that I am not. I also enjoy making comments and suggestions. When reviewing anyone’s opinion, whether good or bad, add a comment, this always helps the author write better reviews or let them know how well there opinion was. It only takes a minute! |
