PLEASE HELP ME TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION
Apr 21 '00 (Updated Apr 22 '00)
Ok, I realize that not everyone is a talented writer. ESPECIALLY NOT ME .....but when I read a review on a product, I would like to read information about the product. I don't want to read 100 words of why something else is so much better, or 100 words of how your Great Aunt Sue's grandmother doesn't recommend the product.
EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION
But if you give just your opinion, and not facts to back it up, how is this going to help me make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase this product? The past few weeks I have been giving out an awful lot of NR's. I try to leave comments as to why I give an NR. I also include questions that if the person took the time to answer them, and included the information in their review, the review would be a lot better.
Just the other day I NR'd a review about Ebay. The person went on to say in 100 words how great Ebay was, and how much she liked it. However, she didn't explain what ebay was, how to use it, if she had any bad experiences, anything that anyone who has never heard of ebay would need to know.
I also NR'd a review about Paypal. That person also ranted in 100 words why it was so great. She never explained what it was, or how to use it.
IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE ENOUGH INFORMATION, PLEASE DO NOT REFER ME TO THE WEBSITE FOR MORE
Understandably, there are times when someone may HAVE to visit a website, for more information, or personalized information, but please do not refer me to the website because you cannot make the effort to provide any information about what you are reviewing. It makes me wonder, how well do you know the product that you are reviewing?
PLEASE BE ORIGINAL
At the time I am writing this review, there are 1465 member opinions written about All Advantage. Why would I want to read them all? All Advantage hasn't changed.
GET WITH THE PROGRAM
I have read a few reviews that are from members asking for advice. Hello, the reviewer is the one supposed to be GIVING the advice, not getting paid to ask me for it.
NO, I AM NOT THE TOS POLICE
However, when you became a member of epinions, there are certain rules and policies that you agreed to follow. I do not want see you asking me to go to a site, and use you as a referral. In fact, I might just go to the site, read their TOS, and possibly report you for not following them.
PLEASE PUT YOUR REVIEW IN THE PROPER CATEGORY
I just read a review about the Elian Gonzales story, it was posted under CNN....Nothing irks me more than when I read a review about something different than what it is supposed to be.
BE PROUD OF YOUR REVIEW, TAKE THE TIME TO PROOFREAD AND VERIFY THE SPELLING
I realize that the spell checker will not pick out a misspelled word if the word actually is a word, however if you know that you can't spell a word, look it up in the dictionary. Its obvious that everyone who writes a review has internet access, there are plenty of dictionaries online. If you don't know where to find one, here is the url for the Merriam Webster online dictionary/thesaurus..... http://www.m-w.com
BE AWARE, IF I SEE ABUSE, I WILL REPORT YOU
Is it really necessary to create 100 different user id's and submit the same or almost the same review 100 times? This frustrates me to no end. I am reading epinions to get information about products, services, etc... I don't want to be wading through the garbage posts.
MAYBE MY STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS ARE TOO HIGH
Isn't that what epinions has asked from us though? Quality reviews?
