About Rosaleen
|
I have lived in Orpington all my live and will soon have to spread my wings and let my career take off. My name is Rosaleen, the English version of the Irish 'Roisin' which is a diminutive of Rose. Roisin Dubh (Dark Rosaleen)is used as a 'figurative' name for Ireland in a famous poem. I feel lucky to have such a meaningful name.
I read a lot of plays, especially people like Shaw and Sean O'Casey. Although there not normal books I find a good play like a good book is hard to put down. In 1995 I was a finalist in the WHSMITH young writer of the year which was wonderful but I really want to be a singer. Operatic singing takes along time to train, actually I don't think you ever stop training even when your getting on. On a more down to earth note I have two beautiful Burmese cats, a very clever brother who went to Oxford and got a wonderful degree and is now a professional actor, a brainy mother that is an inspector of Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings who is very kind and my father who is teaching me the 'Belcanto' (traditional Italian style of singing)who is the most generous and considerate dad I have ever seen. I also study Karate and are currently a green belt so beware!!
