About serc
|
I am a 37 year old feminist stay-at-home mother (yes, they all go together!) mother of one boy, Alexander and one girl, Julia. I have been married to the coolest husband in the world for thirteen years. We also have a pet cat.
I first went to college at St. Mary's in Southbend, IN; Notre Dame's sister school, and transferred to St. Olaf (in Northfield, MN, where I now live) after one miserable year there. I graduated from Olaf in 1994 with majors in biology and women's studies. I have worked in retail, as both a salesperson (Casual Corner and Victoria's Secret) and a bookseller, storytime worker, and Community Relations Coordinator at a Barnes and Noble. Before I became a SAHM, I worked at St. Olaf in the Continuing Education department. At different points in my life I have wanted to be a professional dancer, a doctor, and a librarian... in fact, I even went to library school for a while for my Master's degree. I quit, as it was intensely boring and very expensive. I'm currently in the cohort of nursing students that will graduate in December of 2009. We'll see whether I want to go back to school again someday after I work as an R.N. for a while.
Current Quote:
"None of us has gotten where we are solely by
pulling ourselves up from our own bootstraps.
We got here because somebody bent down
and helped us."
-Thurgood Marshall
