After months of inactivity here on Epinions, I think I have found my "groove". I try to rate opinions fairly, and if I leave less than a R rating I will try to leave a comment as to why.
My criteria? Glad you asked.
If it seems that you put some work into your opinion, you have made good use of the spell checker, and I don't find any inaccuracies, I will usually rate HR, even if I don't agree or like the product in question. If the review leaves me chuckling, I will give it an HR.
Epinions that could use some spellchecking, maybe some grammar correction, or wander off topic are usually given an R rating.
I only give SR ratings if your review consists of " I liked it so you should too". While I don't agree with a minimum word count, I would like to see some details on why you bought/ reviewed this item.
The last one- NR. I will very seldom use this, unless I find some really serious problems in the review. Anything that will earn you a ticket gets you NR'ed by me.
I have seen a sudden rash of NR's, and anonymous ratings, and while I think these are sometimes good tools, I don't feel the two should co-exist. If you want to give an NR, be "man" enough to let me know who you are, and why you felt I deserved this rating. I will gladly review any suggested changes, and get back to you. Likewise, I WILL NOT rate a review anonymously. If I took the time to read the opinion and rate it, then I sure as heck am not going to hide the fact that I was there. Unless, of course, Epinions takes care of that for me.
