About sleahy
The main reason I took up reviewing on this site is that I found it useful while researching the purchase of some long-forgotten doodad. It seemed like a good idea to write up a review every now and again when I had something interesting to say. Judging from my output that does not happen too often. Still, I plug away at it here on epinions, churning through sometimes years-long absences with nary a peep only to return as the spirit urges. If I had the slightest bit of advice for readers it would be: take everything you read here, especially anything I write, with a healthy grain of salt. Pay particular attention to gushing, 5-star, reviews of anything. As humans, we have a tendency to want to justify our decisions to ourselves and others. This sentiment, sometimes referred to as the "confirmation bias," has a tendency to color things a particular shade and that color may not be the right one for you. In any case, I think its a good idea to take a look at a broad spectrum of reviews, both pro and con, when contemplating the purchase of any item you see reviewed here. And for God's sake keep in mind that what is important to one reviewer may be of absolutely no concern to others, or you. There, the lecture is over. Now off with you! Go read my reviews, and buy something, you monkeys!
