MUSIC = LIFE
Are you tired of hearing the same songs on the radio over and over and over again, year after year? Are you tired of hearing a new band that sounds exactly like a hundred other bands every time you turn on the radio? Are you tired of letting radio stations and record companies decide what you will listen to? Are you tired of the spectacle, the constant search for the newest "star" whose looks and dance moves are more important than any musical talent? Are you tired of the musical mediocrity that permeates everywhere in America? Are you tired of all these questions?? (Don't worry, that's the end.)
Well then, get your head out of the sand! Stop letting yourself be led around like sheep! Music equals life! You wouldn't let someone else decide how to live your life, so don't let the powers that be decide what music you'll listen to! There's awesome music out there that the masses know nothing about! All you gotta do is search for it!! And dammit, always use lots of exclamation points!!!
As someone who is on a quest to find the best music in the world (thus the moniker sonicexplorer, clever huh?), I am here to share my findings with all of you. That's right! Not only am I willing to risk life and limb to find great music and listen to it, but I will also try to put the experience into words for your benefit! You will be the lucky recipients of my hard-earned wisdom, so check my reviews frequently so you don't miss anything! Hey sonicexplorer, what's the best music you've found so far in your very brave and admirable quest?
I'm glad you asked. Here's a list of stuff I strongly urge you to check out, the best of the best:
Lacuna Coil - Lacuna Coil (EP), In A Reverie, Unleashed Memories, Halflife (EP), Comalies. Fantastically fantastic (!) prog-goth-rock-metal from Italy, with incredible female vocals.
Nightwish - Angels Fall First, Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Century Child. Amazing symphonic-operatic-power metal from Finland, with awesome female vocals.
Evergrey - In Search of Truth. Dark prog-metal from Sweden, with amazingly emotional male vocals. A new way to divide the world into two kinds of people: those who believe ISOT is absolute musical perfection, and those (*cough*losers*cough*) who don't. So declare yourself: are you with US, or "them"?
Entwine - Gone, Time of Despair. Gothic rock/metal from Finland, with smooth emotional male vocals. Wonderful stuff, you'll love it (because I say so, that's why).
Tristania - World of Glass. Gothic metal from Norway, Beauty and Beast style (beautiful female vocals, rough growling male vocals). Gorgeously dark and beautiful music.
Elis - God's Silence, Devil's Temptation. A fantastic new female-fronted metal band from Liechtenstein. This is incredibly good music!
Poisonblack - Escapexstacy. More gothic rock/metal from Finland, with a smooth, deep-voiced male vocalist. Fantastic!
Charon - Tearstained. Still more gothic rock/metal from Finland (will it ever stop?). Great stuff!
Penumbra - The Last Bewitchment. Amazingly beautiful symphonic/gothic metal from France with "beauty and beast" vocals. Music of the highest caliber!
