About speeddy

I am Dustin Booker of Houston, TX, US. Born July 26, 1983 (which makes me 19). I have been using computers since before I can remember (according to my parents since I was 2 or 3). At the time we had a klunky 80286 running MS-DOS 2.0. But I loved it.
When I was about 13 was when my interest and (much more so) knowledge of computers began to grow. I received a Packard Bell computer with a 486 SX Processor w/ a 210MB Hard Drive and 8MB EDO RAM (back before SDRAM was invented).
Then shortly after I turned 14 I got a job working with my dad and got to know the IT and HelpDesk Guys. They took apart and old laptop to try and use the screen on a new laptop because the screen on the new one was damaged. That plan didnt work so well and they tried to put the old laptop back together, but that didnt work either, so they gave it to me and said that it was mine and good luck trying to fix it. I took it home and got it up and running again within an hour.
They also gave me a 486 DX/66 motherboard and processor which I promptly went out and bought a new case for and used parts from my first 486 to put it all together.
After that I saved up even more money and got to know the owner of a local computer shop (http://www.imaginecomputers.net). I managed and to learn a lot of stuff from him and now get most of my parts from there. I also learned a lot of non-hardware related things from magazines such as PC World and (my favorite) MaximumPC (formerly known as Boot).
Since then I have gone to college and taken a couple of computer related courses (wanting to major in Computer Science or Computer Networking), worked for one of the nations leading independent Internet Service Providers as a Tech Support Rep, and now do freelance computer work running an ad in the local newspaper.
