Let's just say I started traveling the information-super-highway back when it was still a dirt road crammed with BBS portals and typing in GO commands in Compuserve Forums. That was 1990 to be exact and it has been thrilling to watch the evolution grow into something bigger than anyone could have imagined.
The same with computers. I got my first computer by default. A Commodore 64 my dad bought for a family christmas gift when I was 14. It used a cassette tape for a disk drive and needless to say it collected dust in the dining room until I hauled it up to my bedroom and plugged it into a 13" black and white TV, of course it didn't have a monitor either. That began what has now been 18 years of a love/hate relationship with computers.
I've bounced a little in careers as a mostly self-taught computer geek. The creative, artistic side of me indulged 10 years of part-time freelance work in graphic design. The techie side of me fumbled around in network administration for a while before I realized I didn't want to know a computer THAT well. I just like making them work - not really knowing HOW they work entirely. I've also done software implementations for large companies. But I finally found my calling when I became successfully self-employed as a website designer.
I am married to a wonderful husband who isn't too fond of the love triangle my computer creates, but he's learned to live with it. There was only one small incident where he physically removed my modem and hid it. Boy does that bring painful memories -- ouch! Fortunately I have a cable modem now and need it to make money so I doubt he'll be pulling it out of the wall anytime soon.
I am the mother of two beautiful daughters, a 10 year old and a 3 year old who are precious and mobile extensions of my very own heart and soul. I wouldn't trade for the world the good fortune I have to be able to work from home and spend time with my children.
I am a newbie here to Epinions and trying to learn as much as I can behind the methodologies. I have not set criteria for how I rate reviews as of yet, but plan to do it after I am more comfortable.
For me to trust you, I may not always agree with your Epinions but have found you to consistently write excellent Epinions where your knowledge of the subject shines through and your manner of presentation is one of high caliber.
I probably rushed through several of my first reviews in haste and plan on going back and fine tuning a few of them. Bear with me, I'm new - but I'm already an addict and I learn fast.
Nice to meet y'all - drop me a line if you get the urge. I will respond to all.
