About StCanis

Hey, my name's Owen and I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area of California. I have experienced a large evolution in the last few years in terms of what music I listen to. I used to hardly listen to any music at all. I used to never watch MTV or any other music channels, and the only thing I ever listened to on the radio was the local oldies station (not to say that I don't like oldies anymore... I still love them!). Then came a huge change when I realized that I had no idea what anyone else at school was talking about when they referred to popular music and joked about the newest music videos, etc. I started watching MTV, and I swear that within a week, I was right there with all the "in" jokes and news about the newest and latest and of course the worst. OK, MTV has gotten really lame, and I'll put that out there right now that I strongly dislike it now that it plays all those lame shows that a bunch of people watch because they have nothing better to do. When do they play music videos? The answer is that they play them whenever I'm least likely to be watching TV, be it during school, while I'm doing homework, or on the weekends when I actually want to have FUN (and no, unfortunately, watching horribly old-concept TV shows isn't exactly in my definition of weekend fun). So now I no longer need things like MTV to keep me up with the latest music. Instead, I listen to popular radio and some less-popular radio in order to get an idea of what the general population is listening to, and I can decide for myself what I like and dislike. You see, my problem is that I'm very open to new things, and being bombarded by the same music over and over again just because it's popular is stupid. I am also willing to look into any suggestions that people might have for me! I'm always into trying new things. E-mail me and let's talk.
