Something About Me
Philosophy:
I'm not really interested in talking about myself, call it a fault if you will. "Brief and to the point" is one of my motto's, and I'm still working on living by it!
Life Stuff:
I'm from Vermont (no, it's not in Canada!- sorry, inside joke) and working for the U.S. government as a personnel manager affiliated with the DOD has sent us all over the planet, it's been a good ride so far!
I'm life and college educated, and have a good amount of varied experience.
Reviews:
After a reprieve from Epinions of about two years I'm ready to get back to work writing what I hope are top quality reviews! My focus will be movie's, and to keep things interesting I'll vary my format.
What I promise to deliver is a solid, objective and factual depiction of the product. I'll be as in depth as appropriate to my opinion, and base it (whether right or wrong) completely on my interpretation of the facts. I also promise to avoid writing any small novels, and leave out inconsequential ramblings. My last promise to the reader is (as best I can) an easy and entertaining read. I've also recently decided to share my criteria I use when I look at other people's reviews. I do this in case anyone cares, and to show what I base a rating on since more often then not I'd like to know why someone rates my Epinion the way they do. I've also noticed some people rate a review on whether or not they agree with an opinion, or on how much they like a product (possibly using their own experience with the product). Since these have very little to do with the reviewer's opinion, to prevent myself from doing it I set a criteria I look at based on Epinions guidelines for writing a review and my own feeling of what is most fair and objective to look at when rating an Epinion. This is still relatively experimental, but here it is: I ask the questions; Proper use of grammar?; Product description?; Opinion based on fact and observation?; Justify opinion fully?; Compares product with others, or experience? I look at each question and assign a point value; None=1, Inaccurate=2, Minimal=3, Solidly=4, Exceptional=5. Then I add the points and use the following for the actual rating; 20-25 points = Very Helpful, 15-19 points = Helpful, 10-14 points = Somewhat Helpful, 7-9 points = Not Helpful, 5-6 points = Off Topic
