About suemccartin
I got my first IBM compatible PC in the late '80's when they were barely affordable and still ridiculously slow. My first PC was a 386SX based system with a monochrome monitor, something ridiculous like 16 meg of ram and a tiny hard drive, this system cost the ridiculous sum of $1300.00. I decided that I didn't care for the idea of spending $50.00 an hour for computer repairs that I knew I could perform myself and so I began to experiment with upgrades on my own, all the while learning much in the school of hard knocks. Being self-taught I've probably made every mistake there is to make and worked myself out of most of them without outside help. I seem to quite often find myself knowing far more than the technical support people I reach on the phone with various companies! When the 386sx system was finally ditched for something newer I had several different M-tech motherboards which were all excellent products. I participated heavily in their technical newsgroups both to learn myself and to help others. M-tech was later purchased and absorbed by Soyo and I had one of their boards as well before finally moving on to Epox products. Epox has only recently added newsgroups to their support section and I have also been a regular in the Epox newsgroup for the Ep7kxa motherboard. I don't work in computers but I would love to do so. I have a great deal of practical experience but no degree and at least in my state that seems to be a recipe for the door getting slammed in your face. I primarily use my system for internet surfing, playing on-line and standalone games and the occasional bit of word processing. Currently my passions are Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate) and digital cameras. These two fit together well and I've had a lot of fun shooting my schools tests and demos with my EOS Digital Rebel.
