Top o' the mornin', guv'nah!
Expand your horizons with these fine Epinioneers!
Mattjoe -- What can I say about my pal, Matt? He cracked open my shell of self-appreciation and posted reviews that kept me laughing and crawling back for more. It was Matt who first showed me the golden path of enjoyment that Epinions offered.
Matt sat me down one day and said: "Pauly, this here site ain't about making money. This is a community. You meet people, you learn stuff, you help inform others. Think of it as a cyber-summer camp."
"Can we call it Camp Onomatopoeia?"
"No. It's Epinions.com."
LDiablo -- LD has forged the mighty trail in which I have trod. His focused prose and eclectic interests have marked him as a Lone Star Renaissance Man, though he'll decry such a title as too artsy. But that Glenn Danzig/stay-outta-my-way-or-I'll-swallow-yer-soul mayhem that pumps his blood ensures his skewered take on life (and Epinions) will fuel your engines, too.
Caution: bold statement ahead.
I dare say he's the best writer you are not reading on Epinions.
JAMES23 -- If I was a Canadian, I'd wanna be James.
He is an adventurer who has blessed us all by posting his travel memoirs online. James has a tendency to discuss Cuba, cigars, beer, and antics better avoided by the common tourist. His humour (spelled to his liking) and knack for misadventure may brand him a ne'er-do-well on foreign soil, but that's precisely why he's so fun to read.
thom413 -- The best attribute of a community such as Epinions is the discovery of great writers and great people, coupled with the sense of affirmation we get from new friends and fulfilling relationships (be they cyber or no). Tom does all those things.
His wit makes me laugh. His (restaurant) reviews make me hungry. His character makes me proud to call him friend.
shadowbox -- This New Yorker gets very little readership. And that's a world class shame that weighs on my shoulders in Atlas-like doom.
Shadowbox's transcendent reflections on great nonfiction enamored me so, I sat motionless for an entire hour. I know. I know. You're thinking a fella of my fubsy form likely spends most of his hours in some sort of inert anti-celebration of suspended animation. But, this was different.
I achieved a higher consciousness and dreamed that I had plenty of time to read every book I ever wanted to read.
The only drawback to perusing the postings of shadowbox is shaking off the euphoria and returning to your daily routine with the awareness that you didn't write the wonderful review you just read.
aggiebrett -- Brett represents the many writers too talented for this site. Before he ascends to a higher plain and erases evidence of his existence, jaunt on over to read some of his online literature.
Reading an Epinion by Brett is like Fate smiling on you, Fortune spit-shining your boots, or Providence spanking your bare behind with a Birkenstock. You'll be glad it happened to you and you'll look back on the occasion fondly.
He tempers his reviews with a keen repartee so often lacking in lesser scribes. However, he gets down to serious business when necessary.
Sordid-1 -- Widely vilified for reasons too numerous to list, Ken is not for everyone. He bars no holds and has been known to inflict mental hernias on unsuspecting readers. But, those special few who have found a place under his protective wing have come to know the power of the fez and the comfort cajoled from gelatinous ooze.
Some say Sordid-1 is an anagram for Satan. To them I say: "You don't know what an anagram is." Others suggest he is some agent from a dark hinterland beyond our experience, a tumor in the space/time continuum, or that he doesn't exist at all except in our collective subconscious.
I feel compelled to both recommend him and warn you that he does exist. Infamous for his dissident ways, he's most noted for being photographed while standing defiantly in front of a tank in Tienamen Square.
Skip a nap, if you have to. But don't skip these spiffy writers!
repulsemonkey -- A kinder, gentler primate than many suspect, he's noted for his fiery rhetoric and avante-garde, neo-wisdom.
Pianomam -- Her series on coping with aging parents and Alzheimer's is a lesson on the human condition.
kurt_messick -- The resident rector of Epinions, whose intelligence is surpassed only by his spirituality.
