I had deleted my email for a time since I was getting a flood of uninvited correspondents. Now I'm sticking one of my alternates up there to keep in touch with some folks. I'm amazed and very flattered by you all who have taken the time to read my efforts here.

Favorite quote at the moment:

Everyone knows Dick Cheney's fondest pipe dream is driving a bulldozer into the New York Times while drinking crude oil out of Keith Olbermann's skull. ~ Stephen Colbert

We've lost one of our best buddies in the household. Jake was a huge ginger coloured tomcat, of very great age, and serene disposition. He was a mighty hunter of mice and voles, striking terror into the local population in the nearby woods and fields, and always ready to display his trophies on the front step. He was a food sneak par excellance. He was perfectly content to just hang out with someone, soaking up the companionship. This morning, on Valentine's day, he gave up the good fight. We're going to miss you, Jakey.

I really do read too many books, and watch too many movies. But I'll never give them up, either. I adore the movies, especially science fiction, good spy flicks (Bond, anyone?), historical films and a nice goofy romance now and then. My reading preferences also follow my film tastes. I also tend to review the unknown, the unusual and the stuff that's slightly to the left and center.

I also cook, and am always on the lookout for that perfect kitchen gadget.

By the way, you won't see me bashing a lot of products here, I tend to review the things I like and feel passionately about, mostly books and movies and music; and if I feel that an item is truly awful, then I'll write an opinion not recommending it. Not very often, however.

I was thinking that it's about time to thank some awfully fine folks around here: kurt_messick and adjensen, who are terribly erudite and smart, and are terrific authors. Cavalaxis who got me started with all this epinion-stuff. tlimjoco, for her encouraging words about my movie reviews.. And especially to tenori and zeborah, who still haven't written anything yet despite my pleas, but who have proved to be pearls beyond all price in their continued support and friendship.

Finally, if you need to reach me, here's how to get there: dragon (plus) tango at e.a.r.t.h.l.i.n.k. dot n.e.t.. Why am I being obtuse -- I'm tired of getting lots of spam, that's why.
