Background.Living in London, England, now without my Ex-wife and 3 children, The internet had given me ways to get away for a while while still being around for my family. I do still get to spend a little time with my children. As a non-US-resident I was not eligable for e-royalties, which means my opinions were not expressed to make me money, but solely because I had something to say about the product. However, I'd say the same things even if I were paid - my honesty is not for sale :) You can always confirm this for yourself if you wish by comparing my reviews here against those written at DooYoo.com which is a similar service to Epinions, but pays Europeans for their opinions. (this is where I now spend my time). | Work and Career.I am a self-employed Internet Marketing Consultant. This is a combination of the roles of webmaster and website promoter with additional marketing and business planning responsibilities thrown in. I am lucky enough to have become respected in my field. | Forum Sites.I write in quite a few public forum sites relating to my professional interests. This includes the forums (fora) at: MarketPositionTalk.com This one is mostly devoted to getting better positions in search engine listings by understanding how the search engines work to rank websites. WebMasterWorld.com An excellently informative site with many articles and which is run by Brett Tabke, a man whose work I admire. There is also the AIM-pro Forum. | The Open Directory Project. For those who don't know, The ODP is a volunteer edited web directory which is also known as DMOZ (short for Directory Mozilla, because it arose from the Mozilla Open Source projects). DMOZ.org is an entirely non-profit organization. If you have free time, can describe websites concisely and with good English skills (spelling and punctuation) then why not apply to help us show Yahoo how a good directory ought to be made. | IRC Chat and mIRC.This began as an interest and developed into a full-blown hobby. I have used (or at least tried) many different methods of chat, but I have always found IRC and mIRC to be my favourites. It can be chaotic, but its a great way to pass the time and talk with some interesting people. I run a website (when I can find the time in this hectic schedule) called MIRC Workshop, which provides tutorials and help with using mIRC (IRC chat client software), from using it for the first time right through to creating custom scripts that make it work in unique ways. When time permits, I also am a channel operator in one of the most popular channels (chat rooms) on the ChatNet network - #26-40something. I'm not there very often at the moment while I am working on AIM-pro, but I still pop in at weekends whenever I can. |
