Welp..I've been here a little while and it's time to revamp the ol' profile! Here goes:
Me:
I am a 41 y/o male, professional carpenter, woodworker and furniture restorer. My mainstay is that of a professional carpenter. I've spent many, many hours of my life in the solitude of my woodshop, where I have had the latitude to discover, establish, and ferment my deeper thoughts on many subjects. It has created, indeed, a very firm individual with rather strong opinions. I have a lot of ideas about a lot of things, and I like to share them! ;)
Music: ..
I am a musician, play guitar, have dabbled with the banjo, am a lover and avid listener of music. I tend to enjoy the creation of Music Reviews here on Epinions more than anything.
I define music as anything which has a melody which can be recalled by way of humming, whistling or singing. I enjoy rock & roll, country-rock, classic rock, blues, bluegrass, jazz, r&b, folk, some country, some alternative. Good music is about music, and a good musical artist/group will offer us a spiritual release, as well as human insight in their compositions. You can count me out with rap, hip-hop, hate-metal and other assorted bastardizations of music which promote mental illness as the norm and reveal no musical talent...ie... repugnant garbage.
A Rant about modern music:
I DO NOT watch music videos; I DO NOT enjoy music videos because they take away my imagination, and force me to see things other than what the music makes me feel. I believe music videos are the worst things that have ever happened to the music industry, as it has created a bunch of fanatic followers (and artists) who seem to be clueless as to what music is about. Videos have turned the music business into a Hollywood-class meat market, based upon flesh appeal and visual stimulation. Nothing could be further from the intent of a true musician. Good music stands on its own, and requires no pictures, only ears and a mind. Don't tell me about what's happenin', who is kewl, and who is hot..please do tell me about who is good! Okay!...enough of that . ;)
More dark truths:
Other life experiences include 9 years as a volunteer Fireman/EMT, and various artistic endeavors including photography and some graphic design. I'm often full of bologna, but I'm never without my opinions! (laugh here) :)
Honesty:
I have enjoyed creating and reading opinions here, and sharing what contact I have with members thus far.
I love to read opinions of others, yet tend to not read a review unless it is a topic I'm interested in, know something about, or want to purchase. I may, rarely, get sucked into reading a review in order to return the favor of having one of mine rated by an unfamiliar member. I like the idea of helping each other out. However, I really am not one to judge the quality of reviews of facial creams, make-up, maxi-pads, video-games, and a plethora of other items which have nothing to do with my life and life experiences, and I don't feel like I should be expected to do such. :)!
Wrap-up:
So... if we think alike, we'll find each other on here, somehow, I hope! It's always a pleasure that I look forward to!
