Well, there's a lot to say when using the phrase "biography." However, I don't see all of that as relevant.
What's most important is what I love, what I hate, and what qualifies me to critique things. Also, what products I use to test other products.
I test most products with the product they are intended to work with (Computer speakers with a computer, Standalone DVD player with a television and reciever), but I test headphones on my computer, my portable CD player, and my reciever.
The computer's sound card is a Hercules Game Theater XP with a 1/4" headphone connector on the front of it's break-out box. The portable CD player is a Sonic Blue Rio Volt SP250 MP3 player with 1/8" headphone connector. The reciever is a Technics SA-DX950 with a 1/4" headphone connector, and the audio is coming from the Digital Optical output of an Apex AD-3201 DVD player.
When testing music equipment, I play the following songs:
- Dream Theater - Pull Me Under
- Tori Amos - Happy Phantom
- Paul Oakenfold - Binary Finary
- Antonin Dvorak - Symphony No. 9, 4th movement
- Aaliyah - Are you that Somebody
- Bozzio Levens Stevens - Tziganne
- Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - Go Daddy-O
I'm an audiophile. I appreciate the subtleties of a fine audio feed, but prefer digital over analog. I'll also sacrifice tiny amounts of quality to keep massive quantities of music. I strive to have my music and sound represented by the best audio equipment that I can afford, both at home, on the computer, in by car, and on the my person wherever I go.
I love music, almost all types. I tend to stick to progressive rock, metal, hard modern rock, techno, and big-band/swing, but I also get into jazz, blues, and the occasional alternative or rap song.
More to come when I get a chance to add more. ;-)
