Sorry about my tendency to generously give out 5 star reviews generously. I tend to review what I love. I'll try to fix that once in a while. Maybe I'll review Batman & Robin one day, even though I enjoyed that one for pure camp value after the initial horror and disappointment...
Another thing. My reviews tend to go into slight tangents that relate to the movie at hand. Sometimes I cross the line, but I hope that people appreciate the extra info I give.
And another thing. If you think that it's odd that I seem to give good films 4 stars and fun films 5, I don't blame you. Red Dragon met its unambitious goals and I awarded that. Star Wars is Star Wars so I 5 starred that. But real 'films' like Black Hawk Down and Y Tu Mama Tambien...those go for something more and I judge them a lot more critically than the others. I hope you can understand that. After all, I'm a young guy! Young and impudent...
So if you see a real 'bubble gum' movie get a 5 star review, be a little suspicious. It means that I had a lot of fun and the movie did what it set out to do.
If you see one of those 'serious award contender' type movies get 4 stars, it means it was excellent...just I wanted more from a certain group of filmmakers.
If that type of movie gets a 5 star rating, then watch out! I loved the movie! At and artistic level and pure entertainment level.
I also am not the type of person who gets too held up on plot holes no matter how big they may be. I usually try to fill them with my imagination as much I can (and if I can't, who gives a smeg?!). Only once in a while does something bug me for an inexplicable reason.
In addition: I've been reading around some older epinions lately and have come across a few by some REALLY religious people (who may be wacked out satirists...). And though I'm all for free speech, some of those have really been getting on my nerves (as well as making me laugh for how extreme the reviews and the comments get). You should look them up. My advice would be to just go find a movie that was widely accepted and search for the 1 star ratings. Either that...or go find epinions of Disney's animated features.
