After recovering from Wannabe Syndrome (Hollywooditis) for the past year, I'm presently working at a posh law firm and plotting my next move. I'm also starting a new screenplay, for a low-budget indie film this time. In any event, I intend to move to Italy in the next year or two.

Just a few notes on my grading standards, esp. for movies: I reserve 5 stars for the rare masterpieces of a particular genre. These are the ones that, after you've seen them, you just sit there and go, "Whoa." These days especially, very few films deserve 5 stars. Most films I enjoy will get 4, and 3 if the defects are significant. If I respond to a film in a way that is personal (eccentric) and not likely to be widely shared, I'll try to mention that.

I write reviews primarily for the pleasure of writing. The WOT is not a high priority, but I do appreciate reading other well-written Epinions and will say so as time permits. I'm particularly pleased to see the number of really superb book & movie reviewers who are young enough to be my kids.

Receiving good ratings and comments is another gratification. For me the main benefit of Epinions is intellectual stimulation and amusement even more than its "Consumer Reports" aspect. Honestly, Epinions is one of the things that makes life in the Empire bearable. So if you're good, keep writing. I'll keep reading.
