About whaler66
On Epinions, I am known as Whaler66. But you can me Danial, if you get to know me. Basic facts.... I love writing and I love films. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a good film and an outstanding performance. To me, indie films are the cats meow. There is no better medium than independent film. It is amazing how many film gems are unearthed in the land of the indies. I can't tell you how many directors I've fallen in love with while touring the land of indie cinema. Among my favorite directors... PT Anderson (Magnolia... nuff said) Audrey Wells (See a film called Guinevere) Martin Scorsese (The master.) Mike Figgis (If you can take John O Briens drunken ramble and turn into something of substance.... you deserve a whole lot of kudos.) Lea Pool (Lost and Delirious was her only film in the states, but I thought it was great.) Ridley Scott (Even "A Good Year" couldn't change my opinion of him.) Scott Hicks (magnificient adaptation of the book Snow Falling On Cedars. And no... No Reservations wasn't all his fault.) Frank Darabont (I'm the only person who liked The Majestic.) If I have a reviewing style, it's patterned after the great Roger Ebert. This isn't to say that I don't enjoy an occasional blockbuster... although... anything directed by Micheal Bay tests my patience. And btw.... Brian DePalma is the worst director of all time. See "Snake Eyes" if you don't believe me. The man is an absolutely boob, a low rent Hitchcock with absolutely no sense of what works. So.. now you know my likes and dislikes. And you know a little something about MOI. Enjoy my reviews..... hopefully, most of them aren't complete garbage. See you at the movies. Best Regards, The Man Who Wasn't There
