I tend to be very good about blabbering about everything but myself, the online diary I keep (which I am not giving out the URL for, sorry) notwithstanding.
The basics:
I am 28, 5'7", a native Houstonian and a seventh-generation Texan. I have been frequently accused of being Texas-centric (mostly in college), which I will freely admit. I have a degree in political science and a minor in fiction writing, which probably qualifies me exceptionally well for the job of a speech writer. As it is, I settle for inflicting my opinions on unsuspecting people. I also have half of a master's degree in political science, which I quit when I realized I no longer was interested in that was my life's vocation. I currently work at an oil and gas company on their internal help desk, and I'm enjoying it immensely.
I mostly write during my downtime/slow times while at work.
Education: BA in political science and minor in fiction writing from Rhodes College. PhD work in political science (and a bit of work in communication) at the University of Houston.
Hobbies: Bicycling (road), spending too much time online, reading, writing, music (listening and occasionally playing), torturing my cats in the ways all cat owners are familiar with, and some web design. No, I haven't written a web page for myself yet.
Favorite Authors: Dorothy Dunnett, Tad Williams, Guy Gavriel Kay, Karen Elizabeth Gordon, Dorothy Sayers, George R. R. Martin, Jane Austen, George Eliot
Favorite Music: Tara MacLean, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, Oleander, Dexter Freebish, Tori Amos, October Project, Clandestine, Train
Random Tidbits: I own a harp, and know how to play it. Sort of. I have a passion for words and language.
I've been a member of Epinions for a very long time, but forgot about it after writing my initial two reviews. I just came across it again and rejoined the world of writing -- that would be why I've been here for so long with little written!
