I am a senior industrial design student at Philadelphia University. For as long as I can remember, I have been very interested in consumer electronics, design, and technology in general.
I come from a small town in southern NJ. Growing up, I was a very accomplished sax player, winning places in a variety of honor jazz and concert bands. For years, I thought that I would become a professional musician.
My senior year of high school changed that. I had always wanted to be an inventor, but I did not know of any schools that you could go to and major in inventing.
I eventually learned of industrial design, and I was hooked. I decided to attend Philadelphia University, which was called Philadelphia College of Textile and Science when I got in. I can honestly say that not only has my college experience been a lot of fun and a great educational experience, but it has also changed me profoundly.
I have found myself taking on roles and responsibilities that I never would have imagined. I am the President of the Mu Pi chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, a member of the Student Government Association, President's Council, and Industrial Design Society of America, among others.
My work has been featured in school exhibitions, and recognized by the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association.
As you can see above, I am very interested in a lot of things. My main love is music, especially jazz. This in turn has made me into a audiophile, and I have both owned and listened to a variety of equipment at a variety of price points. I am also a lover of all things electronic, although I am starting to appreciate the social consequences of products more than I used to.
Some of my other loves are art, science, photography, politics, and technology. I wont bore you with why I am interested in these things. I'll just say that I feel that I know about a lot of different areas.
That’s about it. If you have any questions or me, email me at dzaveloff@yahoo.com.
