A simple motoring based philosophy..........
If it has wheels and uses gasoline it only gets garage space if it can be raced, can be used to tow a race car, Who is it who decided to fill our roads up with these nasty SUVs - if you need a truck, get a truck, otherwise don't endanger our lives and pollute our atmosphere with these Mommy tanks - please !
In the 60's the Brits made some wonderful sports sedans, actually they invented the concept. Just my own personal taste, but the Lotus Cortina (and later the Escort Twincam and RS Cosworth), and the Mini Cooper were two of the all time greatest Euro bricks ever built. Have to also confess a great fondness for the Renault R8 Gordini, and the Alfa Romeos made in the late 50's and 60's too.
When it came to the sports cars most of the Brit stuff left me cold, with a few exceptions - the Big Healeys, the Jag XKE, and the Lotus Elan.
Ferrari, any Ferrari is a wonderful machine, my personal favorite driven by a love of the styling is the Dino and the Daytona. But all too rich for my blood.
When it comes to modern stuff...........
You can take anything from Japan, Korea etc and shove it, I don't care how good everyone claims it is, they are anemic cheap imitations of European and American technology.
Wouldn't drive any truck not made in the USA. This is one technology they have really got right, and my personal liking is for Ford F series.
The only other American Auto modern product that I like is Chrysler and Dodge cars.
Most of the German products are fantastic engineering, with my personal favorite being BMW. You simply can't find a better product, my latest 99 M3 is the finest road rocket I have ever owned. Have to confess an interest in Jag now that Ford has pulled them in line, and if I could get my hands on one, I could kill for a Lotus Exige.
Other than that, a cool summer evening, surrounded by nature, good conversation with a well educated woman, a nice Italian dinner and a good Red wine - what more can a man ask for !
