Not a pretty site to look at, American Airlines is still a web-site that can provide all of the information you would need to purchase a plane ticket from them. Through my University, I have used them many times to attend conferences, and everytime I have come away with a good experience on the site, and with the airline itself. Ordering on the site is very straight forward, easy to complete, and the confirmation e-mails are very detailed. You can find great discounts by going straight to the source, and taking advantage of frequent flyer miles as well as the hotel reservation system are just a couple of reasons why the American Airlines site is a great site to use for travel.

Positive Attributes of Site: Ease of use, discounts from site, established airline, and great customer service.

Easy to book a ticket. Simply enter where you are taking off from (select nearby airports for greater flexibility), where you are landing, and choose More Options. For greatest selection, choose All Carriers or oneworld carriers (oneworld is the alliance of several excellent airlines, one of which is AA). Select by fare or schedule, choose each of your flights, and enter your payment info. Voila!


If you booked your flight on another website like Orbitz and if you entered your AAdvantage # during booking, log in to make changes or requests, such as your seat.

I travel with American on international flight at least once a month. It has been a great experience, very helpful, hardly ever delayed and I have never had a problem with them. I get the best fares on last minute deals and they offer some great vacation packages.
Is fast and easy to purchase on the website, I only needed to use costumer service once and it was very helpful.

Absolutely one of the best airlines in the sky. I only fly them b/c of my membership with their global partners. Even with the cost control that has become standard since 911, this airline has always had bad service, sub par crew, and problems with getting to destinations on time. The terminal at DFW is taxing even on Gold Members I often feel that when dealing with this airline, I am being a hassle and their opinion is that the whole world is lucky they are around.

Purchased ticket at aa.com. We were not sure we could get in the first leg of the flight due to overbooking. Economy seats are really worn in many of the 767 airplanes. Entertainment system is old on 767 airplanes. Twice on that trip I was seating too far from the screen to be able to see the movie. Before the second leg the plane broke down which gave 10hours of delay, with departure at 2.30am, which is 2 hours after the heating in the terminal of JFK goes off.
Crew is not friendly. I want free alcohol over the oceans. E-itinerary does not show aircraft model (which I like to know by curiosity). Entertainment radio was all very similar and quite boring (767 and MD80 within US).

We did receive a 50$ voucher in compensation for the 10hour delay flight, but that expires in only 6 months, too short to be useful.

Ticket pricing is right.
