Our order (promised for Christmas) did not arrive until the end of January. I called three times to arrange to return the package and was informed that a prepaid return label was in the mail. The label never arrived. Today, without ever informing us, Back to Basics Toys sent FedEx to pick up the package. No one was home. Their customer service representatives are uniformly rude and unapologetic. The only part of the transaction that was at all efficient was the billing. The charge for the item appeared immediately on my bankcard. Buy your children's toys somewhere else.

This was the worst experience I have had with online shopping. I ordered toys for my grandchildren well before December 17 which was the last day to order to assure delivery before Christmas. When they did not arrive a few days before Christmas, I sat on hold for over 35 minutes and gave up. I emailed twice and got no response. My daughter tried calling and sat on hold for 40 minutes and gave up. We finally reached a customer service rep AFTER Christmas, who, after telling us that there was a problem with our credit card and that a supervisor had left a couple of messages for us (a total lie - - and we have fabulous credit and used that same card many times in the same time period), finally told us that she didn't care if we ever shopped there again (shocking!!). Of course we never will. I ended up shopping on Christmas Eve to make up for the toys my grandchildren would not have received otherwise.

Horrendous and Pathetic! 43 minutes on the 800 # and still not a live person. We ordered a present for our Grandson/Nephew for Christmas 2 weeks ago and we were assured it would be here in time...it is 2:30 PM on 12/24/07 and it is not here!!! Has anyone in the company bothered to Google its own name? I just read 4 excoriating reviews of the customer service etc...shame on my family for purchasing from Back to basic toys. Caveat emptor right??!!! Back to basic toys is laughing all the way to the bank.

My order had not arrived after a sufficient amount of time so; I called their customer service thinking that there might be a problem. Their customer service told me they were waiting for credit card conformation. It had been over two weeks since I placed the order and I figured that was BS so I had my wife call right after I got off the phone. She was told that our order would ship out in the next day or two. WHAT???
I SWEAR THE ORDER ARRIVED AT MY DOOR RIGHT AFTER MY WIFE GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!
The order arrived packaged as poorly as anything I have ever had shipped to my home and that includes eBay amateurs.

I ordered a $100 item on 11/27/2007 that was listed as being in stock. Their confirmation email also indicated it was in stock.
When I checked the on-line tracking the next week, however, it showed "Expected Availability 12/4/2007". So it obviously was not in stock as advertised, but they never emailed me to let me know it was out of stock or when to expect it.
A couple of days later the on-line tracking now has "Expected Availability 12/16/2007", again no email to explain what's going on.
I've emailed them but have gotten no response.
Now it looks like I won't get this item by Christmas, and it's also now probably too late to order it from another store, so I'll have one very unhappy little boy!

Received item as gift. Item received in beat up condition. Contacted seller about condition of received item...very uncooperative and unprofessional customer service. Ended up returning item at my own cost...refused to issue refund...store credit only. Customer Service very bad at answering questions and constantly putting you on hold or transferring you to nowhere. Will never make another purchase through this company again. Another caveat...compare their prices on items with other companies...way overpriced for identical items that can be purchased through Target, Walmart and other online retailers.
Horrible. We ordered three toys, received one on time, the other over two weeks late (after calling customer service three days in a row, each time getting a different story) and the third we never received. Both my mother-in-law and sister-in-law also had bad experiences with this company.
We had the same experience several other people had.
We ordered something well in advance of XMas, were told it shipped, and never received it (which ruined XMas). It's now January 7th and we're still trying to get the item shipped to us.
