Ease of ordering with an easy to use website.

I don't really use Barnes and Noble online because I prefer going to their stores in person. But when I did shop online, it was a breeze. I was able to find what I was looking for within minutes. I bought two books from them a few months apart and they both came in excellent condition. One was hardcover and one was a paperback and priced at $ 30 and 7.99 respectivly. I got 10% off on both which was pretty neat. The books came on time. In fact, I got the order the next day via UPS which isn't supposed to be because Barnes and Nobles states that standered shipping is 3-4 days.
The ease of ordering was good. Everything is there for you once you log on. Just click on the apporpriate buttons and withn five minutes, your order should be placed. And, if your lucky, some items are available for in store pickup.

High prices, slow delivery speed.

I bought a five book order on Barnes and Noble.com with standard shipping. The package came 6 business days later- a day later than stated on there 3-5 business day standard shipping policy. I guess its okay if you order books for bedtime reading, but if you really need a book, I wouldn't rely on the delivery speed.

B&N changed my order total after I authorized the charge

After many years of patronizing Barnes and noble.com, I have had an unfortunate experience and feel I must warn others. I've ordered many textbooks and been satisfied overall with their service. However, I recently placed an order and used a coupon. After I submitted the order and authorized a certain total, they emailed to tell me that my credit card was invalid. I dutifully provided the information again. Only after submitting this did I find that they had removed the coupon, and charged my card an amount that I had not authorized. When I saw this, I immediately attempted to cancel my order and was told this was not possible.
BEWARE! They will charge you any amount they please, and will not let you cancel your order.

I love B&N

I live on their website and will always keep them in my favorites! I love their clearances and absolutely enjoy going through the masses of their books on their site.
I've ordered audio and hard and paper books from them and have never had a problem with the product or service or shipping.
Their site is filled with endless supplies of books and you can always find the book you want (unless it is out of print) and sometimes even then you can get it through them.
They have one of the best customer support teams out there on the web.

I really enjoy buying books from Barnes and Noble. It's very easy. The search is quick. The checkout is simple. They have just about anything you could want and they always send a confirmation email. I would rate B&N an A+.

Excellent and efficient shopping experience

I have used Barnes and Noble.com several times to buy books for myself and as gifts. Most recently I purchased some holiday gifts during their holiday sale. Even with the crazy mail schedules during the Holidays, they stuck to their delivery schedule and I received my items perfectly on time.
Although the prices may be higher than Amazon, having a reader's advantage card and constant offers for free shipping make up for it.

The only online bookstore I use

I have been a college student for quite some time. Barnes & Noble online has saved me a lot of money for the last few years. I regularly take advantage of their free shipping, use the membership card, and use all coupons they email out to me. I recently purchased three books that would have costs me $50 through the campus bookstore for $20 using bn.com.
I have never had a bad experience with them. I buy all my textbooks and gifts from them instead of going to our local store. If I order a book on the weekend, I will have it in hand via UPS on Tuesday using the Standard FREE shipping. On my most recent order, the books shipped out on Monday and I had them by Thursday afternoon. I used the to purchased my Christmas gifts at the last minute and had no problems with the items being delivered.
A new feature that they have added to their site, which helps me out a lot, is to find a book at a local Barnes and Noble. No more going to the store expecting them to have a book in stock and they dont.

B&N has worst customer service

I ordered college essay book on line which was easy to order and paid for expedited shipping overseas which was double the cost of book. Range for delivery time was 4-14 days which really sucks but book never arrived. I have to call 3 times to customer service but each time I got different response. Customer service was really worst. They want you to wait for another 2 weeks and then go to post office and inquire. Hey!. I paid for expedited shipping. I ordered book from Amazon and this was delivered on time. It is 8 weeks, I don't have book or my money which i am now calling my credit card company

Tedious and Unrewarding

Their shipping sucks! Free or not, passing off a shipment to a misnamed organization called Drop Ship 'Express' so they can hold it for a full day, then take another day passing it off to the USPS (the worst, most unreliable and least customer oriented shipper available in America) and then finally getting the package to actually start it's 3 to 8 day trip to my local P.O. for pickup is unacceptable in this day and age of quick reliable shipping methods.
This is my first and last order with Barnes and Noble because of this stone age shipping arrangement.

ONE WORD: AWFUL!!

I used to buy everything but the kitchen sink at Amazon. Then, I discovered that I could use my 10% off card from Barnes & Noble stores at B&N.com. SO, I began to use them. Things went fairly well for awhile, then weird stuff happened. On one order, I received 2 books instead of the DVD's I ordered. On another order, I received 2 of the correct books and one incorrect book. Then, on yet another order, I ordered 6 books and returned 3 and they said they had no record of the return. I had a PO receipt and because I put a book from a different order in with the 3 books from this order to save on postage, they BLAMED ME for putting them all in one box. Nowhere on their site that I've seen tells you not to do this. They treated me like a common criminal. Their warehouse operation is very poor. I put 4 books in one box and they claim it only had one book in it??? CAN YOU SAY NIGHTMARE??? Stick with Barnes and Noble stores, Amazon.com or go to Borders. B&N.com is one terrible experience!!!

At Barnes and Nobles I have always had a delightful experience. They have excellent customer service. They only bad thing about B& N is sometimes books tend to be pretty high but I guess you get what you pay for.

this store has almost anything you need for any reader. No matter what types of books you like you will be able to find them all here. I recommend trying it and seeing how much they have for yourself. It is easy to search for things and you will always be able to find what you like to read.

Terrible Service, if they deliver to the right place--terrible customer service

They are terrible! I ordered a $13 book, not only did they deliver it to the wrong place, but they told me I was going to have to wait 3-5 days for an investigation and then they'll contact me to notify me of their findings. Too bad I ordered the book 2 & 1/2 weeks ago and the birthday is in 3 days. When i told them I was dissatisfied, they told me I could dispute the charges. I am mortified to have used them. It would have been much quicker to buy the book, put it in a box and send it to the recipient myself. The situation is embarassing anyways, but their customer servie response just aggravates the situation. The Customer service agent actually told me I could buy another book to send or dispute the charge with the credit card company. Amazon, who I just placed a $180 order with I know wouldn't treat me like that over a $13 book. DON'T EVER USE BARNES & NOBLE. AMAZON IS MUCH, MUCH BETTER.

Order messed up and no results from Customer Service!

There processes don;t work and customer service just copies information from the PC without looking into problems.
The books weren't scheduled to ship for 2 months even though they were in stock and listed as ready to ship in 24 hours. It took 3 contacts to get this resolved.
I used a gift card to pay for all but $3.41. My credit card was charged for the entire amount instead of just $3.41. When I saw this was the case prior to shipping I contacted customer service twice and both time I was told "Please note that when both a gift card and credit card are used to pay for an order, the gift card is debited as the first form of payment and any remaining balance is then charged to the credit card." Yet this didn't happen.
I have contacted customer service again and got the same answer.
I have a membership at Barnes and Noble. I plan on canceling it and either using Amazon or Borders!
