Blockbuster Online Rental has changed, now performing poorly

Blockbuster Online Movie Rental has performed poorly in the last few months. At first their online service worked as advertised with no problems. In the last two months something has changed & very few movies have shipped to me. I've made 5 calls to customer service & they say they will fix the problem, but they don't.
I gave them 2 months & made all of those phone calls trying to give them a chance to fix their problems. My only solution was to cancel Blockbuster & switch to Netflix. I've had no problems with Netflix.
I'm not sure what changed at Blockbuster. Maybe they are not able to buy enough movies from their suppliers due to their financial problems. Maybe there is a bankruptcy in the very near future.

Blockbuster BLOWS. Go with Netflixs

Blockbuster does BLOW! Too many times to ignore, the movies at the top of my queue listed as available were not the ones shipped.
WARNING: If you cancel your membership, wait until a few days before your next billing date. My account was paid until July 14th. I cancelled mid-cycle on June 26th. Even though my account was paid, I received NO movies for the remaining 3 weeks, and Blockbuster refused to refund the 3 weeks I was without service.
I will NEVER return to Blockbuster. Go with Netflixs.

Readily available new releases but slow

I'm currently a member of Netflix and have been for about 2 years now(still satisfied) I Thought I would give blockbuster a try and signed up for their 2 week trial. I'm coming to the end of it and am not too pleased. On the plus side I was able to get some very new releases from them that were listed as a short or long wait on Netflix. The bad news is it seems that Blockbuster takes a while to get me my dvds. The first day I signed up I received them the very next day but ever since then it seems that it takes 2-3 days to get my dvd's where as Netflix only takes 1. As a side note (if it matters geographically) I live in San Francisco.

Blockbuster stopped sending me movies

I've been a Blockbuster Online member for about four months. Their service was fine until now. For some reason no movie has shipped for a over 10 days even though I have 9 movies that show as available in the queue. When I complained to customer service they told me that I needed to have 30 movies in my queue. I think that more likely there is a technical problem with my account or that as some other people have reported they just intentionally start slowing down after a few months of membership. As I mentioned customer service was not helpful and gave me no method of escalating the issue as they did not view it as a problem.

I have tried netflix and blockbuster. I kept both services for over 6 months. Blockbuster was not up to par with sending out new rental once one has been returned. There were times that I waited almost 10 days for a new title.

Incompetent, and awful customer service

Worst customer service on the planet! Waited 3 weeks for any DVD after being a loyal customer for 6 months. No DVD's even though I had 20 available now discs in my queue, along with many long waits dvds, etc. I have the 3 disc at a time deal, NOT the 0 discs at time plan they put me on. Customer service says I need 40 available discs in my queue! THEY are making the decision of what dvd's I get, and that is NOT customer service. I cancelled my service and they wont refund the last month even though they didnt ship a damn disk for 30 days.
I signed up with NETFLICKS now and they ship SUPER fast and have EVERYTHING to me instantly, even those that were on the long wait list a Blockbuster. Turn around is 1-2 days quicker, and unlike blockbuster, Netflicks inspects disks to make sure you dont get broken ones. BB sent me 5 broken disks in one month! Customer service is useless form letter responses that I swear come from overseas. They certainly dont read your emails.

Terrible - worst customer service EVER - AVOID!!!!

Overall:terrible. Site: too many problems to list, long waits, tons damaged/unreceived DVDs, coupons worthless - far too few DVDS in store, customer service absolute WORST have EVER experienced - proven over and over.
After I cancelled - was given date to return without charge - a month earlier charged my card with NO notice. Rep admitted later date was their fault - but refused to reverse charge - only offered to do the BIG favor of no re-stocking fee(gee, thanks). Without notification - they had NO right to charge my card. Promise of call from manager never happened - and subsequent calls from rep indicated they had no intention of reversing charge without return of video or of having a manger speak to me. Reps will spin, lie and double-speak - they are totally rude (2nd call she yelled over the top of me everytime I tried to speak) - they have no respect/concern for the customer what-so-ever!!! Appalling!
Their whole attitude was that they can do anything they want and there is nothing the customer can do!

I recommend them.
I always have one or two movies to view, either from the mailed dvd subscription, or the in-store trade-in for free movies. For me, it is very convenient and very easy.
and a very good value, at $16 a month (incl taxes) 2 movies at a time.

I recently cancelled my subscription with Blockbuster because of their lag in shipping time. They take anywhere from 2 days to 7 days to get you a movie. Not worth the money or the hassle to call Customer Service because they can not fix the problem, I tried numerous times. These movies are coming from a local branch that normally takes 2 days to get mail from but they can not explain why my movies dont show up in my mail for a week. They blamed it on USPS, I made a report with the local post office because I thought someone was stealing the movies. The local post office kept track of my mail, made a report and they found that there are no delays/problems with my mail service. It is all Blockbuster that cant deliver in a timely manner. That sucks I really found their website easy to navigate. I will take my business to netflix.

Super Slow Service & Bad Online Experiences

Online Rental is SUPER SLOOOOOOOOW. Especially when you drop off the DVDs in store, you would think your next movie would ship next day. NOT! I dropped off my movie on Saturday in store. It is now Wednesday and I still haven't rec'd any shipment notification. Also, their website is so outdated, You can't preview descriptions of movie b/c the window box is transparent so it blends in with the background. Plus your recommendations that have already been rated keeps being recommended to you as if they're forcing you to watch it anyway. Horrible, Try Netflix, if you don't have the patience.

Unethical business practices

I recently registered for Blockbuster's online service, intrigued by a two week free trial period that they advertised. Unfortunately, this is not what I received. In trying to clarify the situation, I found that there was absolutely nothing that Blockbuster would do to remedy their bait and switch method of bringing in new customers. I have found that most companies that use false advertising as a strategy to win new customers are typically not those that one wants to maintain a business relationship with. Needless to say, I have cancelled the account.

I reccommend Netflix over blockbuster, the extra 2 bucks is worth it.

I signed up for blockbuster online because it offered a lower price than netflix currently. So I signed up for it. Little to my dismay they did several things I didn't like. First of all I was suppose to be getting 2 weeks free. The 2nd day they charged me and overdrafter my bank account (I use a debit card to make online purchases) So i told them this very nicely. They responded by not refuding me anything, but a month later they charged me 9.99 instead of the full price. Woo-hoo, i didn't get 2 weeks free and I got "saved" a few bucks the next month around. I live in delhi NY and goto a State college. I have my mail sent there. The average time from sending to receiving a movie was about a week. this was outragous, netflix i usually always had another movie in my hand within 4 days. It may be because I have a netflix location closer than blockbuster,. but the wait wasn't worthin it for me. So i switched back to netflix last week.

I've only been a Blockbuster Online member and never a Netflix member, so I can't compare the two. However, I have had only one complaint with Blockbuster and that is that some of the less popular titles are hard to get (none available to be rented at the moment). Despite this, I think Blockbuster is great. Shipping times are reasonable, the price is great, and the three coupons per month (two for free game or video rentals) are fantastic. Game rentals where I live are $7, so borrowing two video games will almost cover the $15 monthly rental fee. This is something Netflix can't beat as well as with cost. I don't understand the other complaints I see here as well. I speculate that some of the complaints here are not valid.

Not too bad, but..........

All in all Blockbuster is a pretty good online rental group in terms of selection and price. The fact that you also get two free in store rentals a month also sweetens the deal. However, because blockbuster online is only in its first year, they still have a few glitches in their system to work out when looking for DVD's. I was searching for the M*A*S*H seasons on DVD on their website. Every different way I tried to search for them, I would never find a single disk. (except once when I got lucky and found one once) After about 40 minutes or so I was about to give up until I thought about searching for the movie by Actor. I searched for Alan Alda and on the second page of the search, sure enough there were seasons 2-8 on DVD. (For some odd reason they didn't have season one). What I'm trying to say in this review is that even though you might not find it by title, try typing in one of the main actors or the director, because the chances are that the movie your looking for is there.
