Blockbuster Online

I joined Blockbuster Online after my free trial of Netflix was over. I liked the idea of being able to exchange the movies at the store. The movies usually arrived 2 to 3 days after they were shipped. Four of the DVDs I received were scratched and unwatchable. A few times during my membership, the top movie on my list was not shipped, they would send something further on the list. I would not recommend this service, Netflix is much quicker and I did not have problems with the DVDs.

BLOCKBUSTER BLOWS!!!

The site is SLOW. Their IT department must be nonexistant! Do they even do any load-testing?? The site pages take forever to load on multiple platforms. The customer service is trained for basic answers only. Anything they cannot answer (99% of all questions...) they refer you to call in to talk to a live person (who again, will not have much information). Blockbuster needs to seriously listen to its customers and revamp its online business. Otherwise, Netflix is going to take over again. Right now Blockbuster BLOWS!

I was a member of blockbuster online for over a year til recently when they changed their in store exchange policy i had the top service of three movies at a time but now the in store exchange is limited to five per month i cancelled my subscription and will be joining netflix

Not worth your time, you will get terribly frustrated looking at the movies in your queue everyday but never getting to actually WATCH any of them.
Their availability standings change every single day. One day you will have a "short wait" the next day it is "available now" and then just when you think it will be on it's way to you.....the status changes again to "long wait". I feel like I am getting PLAYED.
Netflix is the BOMB! Try them instead. A little more money but you will actually get to watch the movies that you want.
I am cancelling Blockbuster as soon as my month is done!

Canceled too soon?

After being a very happy member of Netflix for a year, I decided to give Blockbuster a try because of the newer low rates and the 2 free in-store rentals perk.
I found that Blockbuster was S-L-O-W. Movies were not moved into my Queue quickly enough and it took 3-4 days to get my movies from a shipping center 1 hour away. It also took 3 days for my account to reflect returns I have made. I canceled my free trial and days later, a friend who signed up for the free trial 10 days after I did told me that the return address was in our very own city.
I reinstated my account with Blockbuster on January 29 to give them another chance and will re-post an update when applicable.

I'll get right to the main facts if you like your movies in the mail on time don't go here, if you want a clear and abridged description of a movie you might want to watch hit your back button now.
Delivery times and Lack of available titles is a turn-off
however in contrast 2 free in store rentals a month could trap some into thinking the later shouldn't matter. I live no more than 2 hours from one of the distribution centers but it takes 3 days sometimes 4 to receive a movie.
I started renting from Blockbuster due to the free trial. I have an unending appetite for movies, and because my 3 movies at a time from Netflix just wasn't satisfying my hunger but after spending 1 paid and 2 free months with Blockbuster I decided to go on a diet.

Delivery Speed: Twice as long as Netflix, on average.
Accuracy: Messed up two of my orders (in a two week period), including sending me two copies of "Disc Two" of a movie that I really wanted to see. Well, silly me, thinking that they wouldn't be so ____ing stupid, I put in what I thought was the first disc, and being a foreign lang film I somehow missed the fact that there were no opening credits. To make a long story short, blockbuster.com ruined a movie for me that I really wanted to see. I canceled, switched to Netflix and couldn't be happier.
Customer service: can I even legitimately talk about this as a category since it doesn't exist? Really, really bad.
Overall satisfaction: Absolutely p___-poor

After 10 months with Blockbuster, we're trying Netflix.
Blockbuster seems to do fine on their selection, ease of ordering and turn around time (though I did have a few problems there). But getting one unplayable DVD out of two or possibly three for the last several months is the end. Having to return this many DVDs brings the value down to the point that I'm better off renting from their store.
Another issue is poor customer service. Form letters in response to email inquiries can be expected, but I do expect a form letter that at least is in the same subject area as my complaint.

I like it MUCH better I can take my envelopes to my local blockbuster and exchange them for in store rentals and it checks them in for me and they mail them faster. Try it out, I got two weeks free by using promo code 26013b. my friends used the same code and also got two weeks free

Loved returning to the store; Poor Customer Service

Enjoyable for a while; became significantly worse as time progressed. And then they wanted to raise our rates by 50%. At the time of rate increase they billed our account for the next month (non-refundable) and then ordered us to upgrade to one of the new plans. If we choose not to they would terminate our account within two-weeks even though we had paid (and they had accepted payment) for 1-month.
Customer Service offered the two-week free trial, to compensate us for the hassles, as long as we signed up for the new plan (even though we did not want the new plan and had paid for the two weeks); are you seeing the circle?
The best feature of Blockbuster On-line was the ability to return movies to the store and get new copies. The delays in shipping for the online portion became significant and the service no longer held any value. When we summed up our total movies rented in the store it was obvious that Netflix download program (stream movies to your PC) provided slightly more movies per month.
Overall a very poor experience - we are back to Netflix.

we used bluckbuster online for 7 months. we always returned our three online movies to the store every friday. the first two months our new movies arrived every tuesday. the second two months our new movies would arrive every wednesday. the third two months our new movies arrived every thursday. then they cancled us and said that plan is no longer available. would you like to sign up for our new plan? its the same thing you had but the price has increased by 39%.
I dont see how they could be in business for this long and do something so fishy to teir long time customres. we will never ever rent a single movie from blockbuster again. I couldn't care less about a few extra dollars, what I do care about is not being screwed over by some corporation.
try netflix, they have some issues too but the overall rating is much better than blockbuster.

Great service. However, the speediness of getting movies to me after my trial period did slow down. And got slower again once they implemented the Total Access program where you can return it to the store in the mailer envelope. But, you do get a free movie in exchange for giving the store the mailer envelope vs. mailing it in.

Very slow delivery, poor selection

Delivery speed was equal to Netflix for the first few weeks. Then all of a sudden I'm getting the wrong movies in the mail and they take forever to get here from a distribution center two hours away. Customer service responds quickly to my emails and are polite, but they don't or can't do anything to fix the problems. Selection was excellent for the first few weeks, then dropped off considerably - suddenly there's a short or long wait for everything. Two free in-store rentals is a nice addition, but it's not worth it if you never receive your mailed rentals.

Horrible service. My DVDs were continuously out of order, damaged, or late to ship. I always complained if there was an obvious problem. Guess what? they simply expelled me. Oh well switched to Netflix. Let them take my money for a while.

You Don't Get What You Pay For

Being a member of Blockbuster online (now free access) for over 1 year; I feel qualified to give a thorough review of Blockbuster online service as it currently stands.
Pros:
1) If a store is nearby, one can exchange online dvds with in store dvds.
Cons:
1) Receiving a most desired dvd in your queue is next to impossible (continual LONG WAIT or SHORT WAIT designations are consistent and are most irritating)
2) Frequently sending incorrect dvds inside the mailer is aggravating.
3) Damaged dvd's received have increased significantly over the past 6 months.
My recommendation: Do Not spend your $$$ with Blockbuster...it is likely you will NOT get what you pay for.
