Take way too long to ship items that are "in stock"

I ordered a video at dicksportinggoods.com and was not notified that it would take up to 4 business days for my item to ship. Even though my item was "located in stock" the very same day I ordered it. Most good internet retailers will ship the same day provided they receive your order before 12pm. Had I known it would have taken this long I would have not ordered the video. When I called to cancel the video after the 3rd business day I was told it would take 1 full business day to process my request. WTF! Upon asking the customer service rep I called, the lady had no idea why it takes them 4 business days to ship items they have in stock. So, by the time my request went through my video shipped (of course). So, when it's all said and done I should receive my video over a week and a half later after ordering it. Even though my item was located in stock the same day I ordered it. This is the second bad shipping/waiting experience I've had with Dick's so needless to say I won't be ordering from them any more.

Ordered the PS UNI X Cycle on 08/10/2004 and received it 08/13/2004. It was in good condition and I was able to put it together effortlessly. I was very pleased. I especially liked the specials they had: $15 off of select merchandise that's over $100. This made my purchase much cheaper than anywhere else. The only drawback I see is their online tracking system. Everything was fine, until I looked up my order one day and it said I hadn't made an order! I was shocked, contacted customer service, who confirmed that I had indeed made an order, but they could not explain why online, their website said I had not. Nevertheless, the order still came early and in very good condition.

Bad! December 15, 2006 ordered x-mas gifts to be shipped directly to relatives. On the 18th, I noticed not shipped yet, reassured when I called it would be sent on 19th. On 20th, reassured they would mailed it ASAP w/a x-mas guarantee. Dec 24 (x-mas eve)received an email stating the ordered had been canceled and my card was not charged. How nice of them since they had literally screwed me from getting presents to kids. If they didn't have the product, 10 days before, I could have gone elsewhere and then my folks would have received the gifts. Now x-mas eve they tell me. I have asked to be contacted by a supervisor they said it would take 24 to 72 hours. However, it has now been a week. So, I am venting here!

Dicks Sporting Goods online purchase is unacceptable. I ordered an item online and they sent me a random generic item in place. When I called to get it taken care she had said that I will be getting a return slip in my email. It takes 3 days for the return slip to be sent out. This is terrible if you need to return it quick so you can purchase another item elsewhere. This policy needs to be addressed ASAP.

Absolutely awful experience. Will never buy from them again.

Tried to buy a ski jacket but the closest store didn't have the right size. So found one at a different store 40 minutes away. Called to see if I could pay for it over the phone with as credit card, but was told they don't "do" that. Nor could they transfer it to the nearest store. So ordered it online. Just received an email saying they have a problem with the address and cannot ship the order. There is nothing wrong with the address, it's a regular residential address, and I've had hundreds of things shipped to that address over the years. I'm the director of support at a local consulting company and am just appalled by the lack of customer service.

Will never shop there again, and they just lost a customer that spends a good chunk of cash there on a yearly basis. Shop somewhere else.

Another Company substituting USPS mailing for shipping

Ordered items August 30 & they said Free Shipping on my items. Now 21 days later and I don't have the items they say they "mailed it" & didn't ship it. They say their website mentions that they can substitute mailing items instead of shipping them. BULLCRAP.

The items I ordered clothing & lights for a gunsafe are not CD's or electronic media. That is what their website says that they mail. Shipping sections of website NEVER MENTION substituting shipping methods for clothing. Mailing is NOT shipping.

My mailing address is different from my shipping address because I live in the sticks. My Law Enforcement occupation doesn't allow me to have a mailbox so consequently I did NOT get their "mailed" package.

What a lousy online .com to substitute mailing packages
when the website clearly says free ground shipping on orders over $99.

I ordered an item from this store and have not gotten it yet. I live in the same area as their warehouse (according to the person I spoke with) which is also located where UPS hub is at. After not receiving the item I called customer service three times and got a different story each time. They gave me a tracking number and then on my second call to customer service (those words need to be removed from the English language) I was informed that although it was shipped through UPS it was a different type of service and therefore it was not actually tracked. Makes perfect sense to me, thats why they issue tracking numbers. I will never buy anything from them or their retail outlets again.

Most horrible experience I've experienced from a store this holiday season!

I have never been so dissatisfied with a specific store as I am with Dicks Sporting Goods. First of all, they list on their web site that an item I ordered for my 12 yr. old for Christmas as "BEING IN STOCK, AND LEAVES THE WAREHOUSE IN 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS". So, I placed the order. The next day however, I receive an email stating "this is an advanced sale item, and it is not available for shipment", you will be notified by email when it becomes available. 2 months later, and one week before Christmas, and having made numerous phone calls to inquire about the item being shipped, and getting a line of B.S. every time from every customer service representative I spoke with, I determined that the item obviously wasn't going to arrive to me in time for Christmas even it by some miracle it did finally reach their warehouse from the vendor. The item should not have been an "Advance sale", and the web page certainly gives inadequate information by stating it is "in stock and leaves warehouse in 7-10 business days".

Bogus Promo Codes Expires Day Before Order

Used promotional code during checkout process and Dick's checkout page accepted code and applied to most expensive item. Now customer service is trying to say coupon expired the day before I placed my order and they will not honor. Charge will be for full amount. I read on other sites that their promotional codes expire rather quickly so I have to assume this is what they are referring too. Also, the order was for 2 items but I am being charged for 2 other items I did not order. One item not ordered has already been received but they will not credit my charge card until they receive the item back and I cannot send back until I receive paperwork from them which can take up to 3 weeks to receive. I will never order from this online store again! Worst experience I have ever had!

I was overcharged for shipping on an order where I used a gift card and charged the balance to a credit card. The item description screamed "Free Shipping & Free Return Shipping." However, when I added it to my shopping cart a shipping charge was included. I called customer service and they said don't worry about it because the shipping charge would be deducted when I complete the transaction. WRONG! I foolishly completed the order and had to call their inept customer service yet again. They did credit the amount back - TO THE GIFT CARD! They refuse to transfer the credit to my credit card from which the overcharge was originally paid. In short, they turn their screw-up to their own advantage by requiring me to make another purchase from them in order to liquidate the gift card balance.

From the looks of their ratings, this unmitigated audacity is very myopic and will cost them dearly in the long run. I recommend everyone avoid Dick's Sporting Goods.

POOR shopping experience.

I purchased E95-elliptical machine worth ($1699.99) in May 2008 and received the delivery in June exactly after 21 days. The machine had a part that was bend that holds the fly wheel-----bottom line the machine is not operational. For last 16 days I have been calling them almost every day so I know the status and have talked to multiple customer service personal, supervisor, and sales manager so I can get a replacement. Every person I spoke to say –we have no clue why we have not called you –but we were suppose to call you and let you know the status.
Bottom line I got the word I will be receiving a new machine yesterday but I will have to wait for another 16 days and that’s not acceptable. I told them I need to speak to Public Relations dept –but they gave me a run around and I even called the corporate head quarters but they say since the purchase was made online they can’t be of much help.

I will not recommend anyone to buy anything with dickssportinggoods.com because the customer service does gives whole lot of run-a round.

DON'T DO ON-LINE BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY "DICK'S SPORTING GOODS)!!! BEWARE!!!

They allowed my credit card to be used by a thief to purchase a on-line gift certificate they they emailed to the person and refused to cancel after I noticed the fraudulent charges to my account the following day!!! THEY WOULDN'T CANCEL THE CHARGES OR CANCEL THE CERTIFICATE FOR $200.00. Don't be surprised if someone at Dick's uses your credit card information at some point to buy personal stuff... Good Luck!

I ordered two football jerseys on 12/11/06. When I realized a week later they had not shipped the items I sent two separate emails requesting to upgrade the shipping at my expense. No response. I finally spoke to customer service who advised they had experienced problems in the warehouse and would expedite the shipping. As of 12/26/06 they still have not shipped the items.

Needed item by Christmas (a Monday) Placed order on early tues morning,(6 days before Christmas) (spoke with sales person on phone) If I purchased overnight shipping I would have it in time. By Friday I had not received the order. I called and they informed me that IT HAD NOT LEFT THE WAREHOUSE YET !!!!!!!! "I'm not going to get this by Christmas, am I ?" Their reply... "NO"

Their e-mails to me stated call us 24/7 with problems go to our web page for the phone number.

NO WHERE ON THAT WHOLE DAMN WEB SITE CAN YOU FIND THEIR PHONE NUMBER. Go ahead, give it a try.

This is only a small sampling of the fustrations I had with Dicks. e-mails, phone calls, placed on hold for 20 min. at a time. Them being unable to make any changes the second an order hits their computer.

Be aware, if you order on-line, you CAN NOT RETURN THAT ITEM TO A REGULAR DICKS STORE !!!!!

BUYER BEWARE! Dick's does not have, and has never had the Garmin eTrex Legend "Exploration Pack". You will not receive the item pictured on the Dick's website. What you will get is the Garmin eTrex Legend "Adventure Pack", which does not have the carrying case, and is NOT eligible for the rebate. This is the same bait-and-switch deal they have in their retail stores. I have filed a complaint with the BBB about their deceptive tactics.

If you receive a gift that was ordered online, you cannot return to a Dick's Store for refund or credit?? How crazy is that?? My kid received a baseball bat from his uncle and it was too small. Brought it back, but the store won't take an exchange because it was ordered online. And, if I send it back to Dicks, they will only credit the uncle's credit card and not even send a gift card. Ordered a turkey call and never received it. Dicks hides their phone number to make it difficult to talk to a person. Even when I did, they would send contradictory e-mails about the location of my online order.

Finally, spoke to a manager and now they are overnighting it. Get this, this clown had to ask for permission to send it overnight at their expense. When they screwed up the original shipment to begin with and took responsibility for it. For Christ's sake, your a manager man, make the call!

I will never order from Dicks Online again.

Bad customer service, the wrong item was delivered and they did NOT overnight the correct item to have by Christmas! I also had to persuade the customer service rep to contact the buyer for the item I did receive just to let them know they might get the wrong item or not one at all. It took me too calls just to get my item reshipped. Stay away!

Revision for clarity---on hold time for customer service was over 30 minutes and the reps were not effective once they came on line (3 attempts to get my situation cleared up). Shipping time was well over two weeks. The promise for overnight delivery for the correct item was not carried out. Perhaps my bad experience was due to being a few weeks out from Christmas, but after reading other similar dissatisfied reviews with about the same type of situation- I am thinking it wasn't.

I recently ordered a gun 45 gun, gun safe from dicksportinggoods.com. I was told that my card would not be charged until the item was shipped. They charged my card before the item was shipped! They told me the item was shipped, weeks before it was really shipped. I was told the item would be delivered to my door. The truck driver in reality could not even get down my city street with his truck, so I had to meet him at a local large parking lot to have the 750lb safe lowered from his semi to the bed of my pickup truck. Once I got the safe home it was up to me to find a way to get it out of the bed of my truck to the ground, and into my garage. Customer service is VERY RUDE! Nobody seemed like they knew what they were doing, or for that matter really cared!

In 10 years of buying things on-line I never had one bad experience--until I made the mistake of using Dicks Sporting Goods' website.

Better read the fine print really closely before you hit "send" with these clowns. They do not allow any changes or cancellations. If you have questions about anything there is no way to speak in person with a "human" to get an answer. And the product information on their website is often incomplete or misleading.

If you send an e-mail, it will be answered at 3:30 AM the following morning by someone with an assumed name like "Sally Y". All their so-called customer service people are good at is reading back the fine print of the so-called contract formed when you hit the "send button".

Be afraid....be VERY VERY afraid.

And buy your stuff someplace else.

Dick's Sporting Goods is the hands-down winner for the WORST on-line retailer anywhere, ever.

They are an awful company, and they treat their customers like dirt.

I ordered an item listed as "In stock, leaves warehouse in 1 - 2 full bus. days" weeks before christmas, and received a confirmation email from google with my order information, etc., etc. and that Dick's had received it and it was being processed. Well, Christmas passed, and it still has never come, nor was I notified of any possible problems or delays. So I wrote them an email, asking what the status was, or if there was some kind of problem, and never heard anything from them. It is still listed that my 'order is being processed', and as far as I can tell, was just never shipped at all. So, I finally just canceled the order...and I'm half expecting they will screw that up too. I will NEVER shop here again - and they lost a nice big sale. I must say that Dicks truly lives up to its name. I wish I had read the reviews on this store before I ordered there.

We ordered a proform elliptical machine. It took a few days longer than we were told it would arrive. Then we found out we were missing an important part. So we called Dicks and they told us to call Proform directly. So we did. The part came and as we were putting it together we realized we had about 6 MORE PARTS THAT WERE MISSING! PLUS NO MANUAL!! There were even parts (like one that looked suspiciously like an exhaust pipe) included that don't belong to the product. CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGEMENT IS RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE. 3 WEEKS AFTER WE ORDERED AND WE'RE STILL WAITING ON PARTS. AND THEY DON'T GIVE YOU ANY DISCOUNTS FOR TIME AND WASTED ENERGY. On November 29, 2006, I placed an order for (2) $100 Gift Cards for Christmas gifts. On December 6, 2006 I received a 9x12 envelope containing ONE gift card that had no backing or gift envelope attached. The invoice was for the 2 cards I had ordered and I was charged $201. I immediately called the hard to find 866 number and was assured that the missing card as well as the backing would be shipped to me. Thinking there was plenty of time until Christmas, I waited until about the 18th, and called again since I had not received my missing card. When Christmas came and went, I started asking for a credit instead of the card replacement. After multiple phone calls, hours spent on hold and a number of unanswered emails, it is now January 18, 2007 and I have still not received a credit to my account.

I did all my Christmas shopping online and the only problem I encountered was with Dick's Sporting Goods. Two weeks before Christmas, I ordered Heely's for my daughter and recieved an email that the items were located and waiting to be shipped. One week later there was still no shipment. I emailed customer service that promised a 24 hour turn around, and I never recieved a response. I called the customer service line and waited 30 minutes on hold to be told there was nothing they could do since the item was in the warehouse and that I probably won't get the item by xmas. I found the item at Kid's Footlocker and had to call again to cancel the order. I again was on hold for 30 minutes and was told that they could try to cancel the order but couldn't guarantee it. I could call back for a shipping label if I receive it. Never again will I order online at Dick's Sporting Goods!

Online order entry screen did not deduct the 10% online promotion and did not take the gift card that I entered.  When I called their cutomer service department Ryan badge # 73702 said that he could not apply gift card to order after it has been placed.  I said that I did enter the gift card online at the time of the order and had no idea weather it took the gift card or not until I looked at my credit card statement online seeing that the credit card was charged the full amount.  I asked Ryan if  he could do a return and then charge the order like it should have been charged and he said that I would have to send my order back and then enter in a new order online.  Does this sound right to anybody out there.  Why do people make things so difficult.

Can not believe Shipping issue. Some how the online store used the wrong address when I made my order. Called there customer service right away and they told me there was NO Way to change it, are you kidding me. The only thing they could do was cancel my order, which they said ONLY HAD A 70% CHANCE OF Happening. Never again. That is the worst customer service. I was completely satisfied with my shopping experience. I had recieved an Under Armor Zip Up shirt for Christmas that was too big. I waited three weeks after Christmas because of the craziness of returns and then I went into the store. I by this time had lost the reciept. The store completely honored my return and gave me store credit to look around for something else I would like to by with my money. I was very impressed with the in store experience.

I think that it is silly to get so upset at the associates that work in a store like that. They are overwelmed by the number of upset people right after Christmas. There is only so much an associate can do.

Well to put it bluntly I would avoid Dick's Sporting goods online store. To begin with they offered a free shipping method which took 10 full days to reach me. Then when the product arrived it was clear that it was a repack. Item had been resealed and sold for new. It had obvious signs of prior use (batteries already installed manuals torn etc)

Stay away from these people.

I will be returning my product and paying considerably more to ship it to them than they spent shipping it back to me!

Over all delivery speed was good. The problem with Dicks is the customer service. They did respond fast to my questions, but due to the weight machine I had ordered being damaged before I even received it, they were willing to do NOTHING to help me, or work with me at replacement. I had to weight 10 days to get it picked up from my house, then another 30 days before I could be refunded, or given a new item. This is a major disappointment due to it being THEIR FAULT that it was damaged.

I purchased an item that advertised guaranteed delivery by Dec 23rd or the item was free. I upheld my end of the bargain, I ordered it on time with expedited shipping. They shipped it ground and it was late. When I attempted to collect on the guarantee, suddenly the item was never under the guarantee and they don't owe me ANYTHING. They refused to let me speak to a supervisor and also refused to honor their advertised guarantee. Where I come from, that's fraud. I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission, but I thought I'd let the people here know about it so maybe they won't get bitten like I did. I'm never shopping there again.

I ordered a swimmer's snorkel from Dick's recently, and instead of receiving the normal one as I ordered, I received the Freestyle one. I called customer service to address the issue, and instead of sending (or at least promising to send) a return packing slip, they instead insisted that all of their records show I ordered the freestyle one. Yeah, of course their records show that; that's what they sent me. But that's definitely NOT what I ordered. Don't shop at Dick's online, unless you're ok with getting a soccer ball instead of the basketball net that you ordered.

My worst web shopping experience ever.  Item was listed as 'In-Stock'. I paid extra for 2 night delivery.  Order must have been lost - I had to email and call "Customer Service" 3 times only to get the order 16 days later. Doubt it would have ever come unless I persisted.  Customer Service was quick with the excuses and mis direction, in actuality they cannot tell if your item is in stock or not, if it has been shipped or not, help with a refund or credit.
It's your money but I will be using a reputable vendor next time. If the website says it is 'In Stock' I expect it to be 'In Stock'. If it is supposed to ship in 2 - 3 days then it should or they should contact me otherwise ASAP. Do not shop at this website.

Delivery speed was better than expected. This is possible when you have no concern for the quality of the goods you ship. The foosball table I ordered arrived with major damage evident the moment the box was opened. When we called customer service, we were first told that the item had not shipped yet, and that once it shipped we could work out the details of getting the item exchanged. The next day we got an e-mail telling us that our credit card had been billed for the item that shipped. When we called customer service to arrange for an exchange, we were told their policy did not allow for an exchange. We would have to wait 10 days for them to schedule pick-up and once it got to their warehouse they would credit our account. I offered to return it to the local Dick's Sporting Goods and was told that was against policy. Their customer service people were rude, unpleasant, and totally useless.

Wanted to buy Heely's Roller Shoes. The Dick's size chart wording does not match the Heely's size chart so we received a size to small. Called customer no-service and was told to send back no charge and reordered with rep. Rep did not have any idea about the different sizing. Told there would be no shipping charge again but when we received the second order, it was the same size as the first order and there was a shipping charge. Also, could not get the Google $10 off thru the phone that we got online. We are now $10 into shipping with nothing to show for it. Have talked to 4 different reps (3 times their computers were "down") and had to call back. Waiting for first credit. No satisfaction at all. Will not shop online with Dick's again.

Tried placing an order online when website went haywire.
Called customer service about problem and eventually placed the order with the representative. Was unable to redeem a $10
reward certificate. Called back a few hours later to check on the order and see if the reward certificate good be put towards the order total and was told "no". I asked to cancel the order and start over, placing a new order to make sure that I would get the $10 reward certificate discount and was told that this couldn't be done. I was always told their standard reply that "it is already in the system". Will never shop at Dick's again. Spent about one hour on the phone with three different reps with no results.

I have never written a review on epinions, but thought that this experience warranted doing so. Dick's Sporting Goods online service has been by far the WORST customer service experience of my life. The product was damaged, shipping was slow, customer service did not respond to any emails or phone calls, still waiting for a response/refund, etc. etc. etc. To make a long story short, they did not treat me well at all and I will not be shopping with them again in the future. I URGE you NOT to buy from Dick's!!!!

Ordered online a pair of golf shoes on sale (No S/H) and received on time. I even called customer service (CS)to verified before submitting my order was told those were the shoes I wanted. Without any further due, I place my order. However, it was shipped something else. So I called CS and they said "too bad" that was the shoes I had ordered. So I went online and found out those shoes that I wanted were out of stock. So maybe its another way to fulfilled their year end sale. This was just another way of getting people like myself to suck up their deal. The lesson here is "Never buy something online that are on sale" especially coming from DICK's Sporting Goods" Now I understand why they called themselves "DICKs" so that customers can suck up their merchandise. Be careful when dealing with them. I should read some of the unhappy customers comment before buying from them.

Received biking shorts as a gift. The shorts are described online to make you believe they have thick padding in the seat. They have near no padding. I am now told that they do not accept exchanges period. Basically, I now have to pay to ship my gift back to them and end up with nothing. More than 5 weeks later, have not received the jacket, though repeated calls and emails have resulted in Dick's personnel telling me that they are still vigilantly making checks with their warehouse! Ultimately received a refund.

Avoid shopping at Dick's... Add 2 days shipping to any order even it you chose overnight shipping. It takes 2 days for any product to leave the warehouse according the customer service. I have yet to receive my order that I paid 3 days shipping for 5 days after the order was placed. It took 2 days for the order to be processed that was placed in the morning. I called customer service and was basically told it would be 3 days shipping but took 2 days to ship. To the customer that looks like 5-7 days shipping not 3-5.

Beware Dick's online site.

Email gift certificates CANNOT be redeemed in store....read fine print.

Web site is quirky. I tried to order a gift card and didn't get to final screen. Checked email one hour later...no email confirmation.
Ordered another card.
Next day had two order confirmations.

They would NOT allow me to return one of the cards.

I would be very careful if you choose to do business with this site.

I ordered an elliptical on May 21, and received several email notifications on shipment status throughout the process. I received my elliptical on May 29. Ordered a bowflex from Dick's. Come's in 5 boxes. 2 of the 5 boxes cancelled at shipping time. The other 3 show up. Customer Services says, 'we don't know what happened, we'll notify the warehouse'. Long story short, 5 calls later, they still don't know anything and haven't heard from this mythical "warehouse". Finally, the say let's pick up the 3 boxes delivered and just reorder. Stupid concept but I agree since they can't stick finger in butt. I gripe enough that they "request" a 10% savings on the reorder (not garaunteed though!). Our CS girl says they see that this item is in stock and it should ship next day. I get an e-mail that this item has been back ordered! Next call to CS says, 'we don't know what happened'. Well duh! I don't think they care much about supporting their customers. Wait till I spread this all over the web....

Dick's is terrible.  Online gift cards cannot be used at stores and shipping takes forever.  Returns must be done by mail and are very slow.  Customer service is unhelpful and the ordering process is extremely frustrating.  For example, when I tried to use a 20% coupon on my order, it automatically applied the discount to my $8 skate guards rather than my $150 skates.  Thanks a lot!!  But then when I tried to move the skate guards to a separate order in order to maximize the discount (who wouldn't?) I had to start the whole ordering process over again.  Very frustrating.  All in all an irritating and frustrating experience.  Stay away!

My wife ordered a wetsuit. It didn't fit, so she decided to take it back to the local retail store. Turns out they won't accept returns made from Dick's Sporting Goods Online Store. (Why not?...every other major retailer does...) I call the phone number for customer service listed on the web site to plead my case and ask NOT to be charged for return shipping. They said no. So we end up paying $10 to try something on. What a waste. Won't do that again.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONLINE STORE!!

Placed a Christmas order on December 14th. The products were in stock and were supposed to ship within 1-2 FULL business days. No explanation as to why they were not shipping.... no one in the store can help with ANYTHING you do online.... customer service wait time to talk to a live person was never less than 50 minutes (called 3 times)... the ONLY email correspondence is an automated reply letter.... you cannot CANCEL the items (even though they have not shipped).... and I received the items today December 31st!!! Now I have to pay to return them since you cannot return in the store.

Sport's Authority is much easier to work with, and the same items were cheaper!!!

I am really surprised by the number of complaints concerning Dicks Sporting Goods. We have three children that are all heavily involved in athletics. Unfortunately we do not have a Dick's Sporting Goods close to our home yet so we shop their online store. We purchase most of our sporting goods and clothing from Dicks and have never had a bad experience. Our most recent purchase was a basketball hoop - the Lifestyle 79960. This was a large purchase. The day after I ordered I received an order confirm from Dicks. Later that day I received a call from the freight company requesting to schedule a deliver time for the following week. The product was to arrive in 7-10 business days according to Dicks. Our purchase arrived in 6 days and was in good shape. We have purchased heavily from Dick's and have very good fortune with their products and service. Great selection, best pricing, reasonable shipping costs and timely delivery - I cannot think of anything that could be improved in our experience.

I have complained, but all I get it this is their policy. Unjustifiable policy in my opinion, how many foreign owned rental properties are there in Florida. Thousands!

I ordered a pair of basketball shoes late on a Friday afternoon. I didn't pay additional for the overnight shipping because I didn't think they'd be shipped until Monday any how and didn't want the added expense. They were actually shipped out on Saturday and arrived on Wednesday. I thought this was very fast delivery service especially since there was no charge for the regular ground shipping and there was a special offer where I could return the shoes without paying the return postage if I needed to. Also, the shoes were ten dollars cheaper than I found on any other web site. They were exactly what I ordered. I'm satisfied!

Was told by operator that product was in stock and was part of their  guarantee delivery by christmas this was great news because we couldnt find our son a santa gift he wanted- looking on line we found dicks sporting offer for delivery before christmas---needless to say we were very disappointed when christmas eve came and no gift was delivered!!!!!We called on day after christmas to find out what happened and get our guaranteed order..Was told by customer service that they e mailed me and canceled our order by e mail, i told them i was not around my computer over the holidays so i never got thier e mail. After buying tennis racket strings at Dick's today, I left the racket there to be stringed as expected. However, when I got home I received a call saying that since I "had not paid" for the strings, the racket could not be stringed. I was quite surprised since I had definitely paid for the strings and I still had my receipt. What most surprised and angered me was that when I called back to tell them I had paid, the manager hung up on me without apologizing. Whatever happened to customer service and satisfaction? Dick's Sporting Goods' customer service is appalling.

I ordered a long list of Christmas items in November, hoping to beat the rush. I was very pleased with the selection and website, then things went totally wrong. A week after placing my order, I received notice that one of my items "was unavailable to ship", something noted by a previous poster. This was frustrating as the item was available and confirmed. The order was shipped on Dec. 1 and it simply never arrived. I received no response to my e-mail, so I called customer service on Dec. 21. A very pleasant customer service rep. checked and confirmed that my shipment could not be traced and must have been lost by the USPS. I finally got a credit a few days later, but I had to do a lot of unexpected last minute shopping. I took up the invitation to e-mail the VP of customer service as suggested on the website. That was several weeks ago and he has not responded.

JAN 2009__Ordered punching bag for grandson for Christmas from Dicks Sporting Goods Online. It was sent from the Everlast company. Arrived in a timely manner. Box was split open half way around and taped up. Chain and swivel were missing. Called Dicks. They were very nice. They contacted Everlast and told them to email me. Everlast didn't. Called Dicks again. Dicks was very understanding and even refunded my shipping cost because of the problem. Dicks gave me Everlasts customer service phone #. Everlast told me to fax them the receipt and the details which I did. The chain and swivel arrived a week later.

Terrible/nonexistant customer service. Does NOT care if customer is satisfied at all. Ordered an item, received status messages that it was in stock and would ship in 1-2 days. After waiting for 2 weeks, status still showed as in stock, sent detailed email received only form letter emails, tried calling on hold for more than 1/2 hour, no help from representative. Finally, got an email that the item would not ship for 1 month and I could cancel. I finally got to a rep to cancel, they have no immediate status, said the cancel was requested and would take 24-48 hours to reflect in the order.
In the meantime, they shipped the item the next night AFTER I had cancelled the order. No further communication no customer service. Terrible experience.

I placed my order within the normal time period I needed the item the web site stated I would receive it, but when I received my confirmation e-mail, it stated the item would not ship for another couple of weeks from when I needed it. I sent an e-mail to Customer Service advising them of my situation and I received a "generic" e-mail not answering my question so I had to call Customer Service. They could not cancel my order (this all happened within minutes of receiving the confirmation). I now have to wait until I receive the item (4 weeks from now), call them back again and have them send me a label so I can return the item.

Poor customer service, lack of interest- poor business sense!!

I ordered a exercise bike, it arrived in a timely fashion but when I assembled it- the bike was defective. I called to tell customer service, customer service assured me they would issue a call tag and get it picked up.

This dragged on for 10 days! I would call every day, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day and every rep I would talk to would give me a different answer. I got so furious I called the corporate office, could't get anyone- I sent a nasty gram via fax and finally got a response. they claim my bike will be picked up- but at this point I do not trust them. I have contacted the BBB and filed a dispute with my credit card company, NEVER buy from them!! I am so emotionally drained from this whole mess. I have spent 23 hours trying to get this darned bike taken away and my account credited.

Bought a bicycle for our son. Four months later, he's riding it down the block and the front wheel falls off!!!! Tried to return it and were told basically, "Too bad, wheels fall off bicycles all the time. Past the ninety days. Not our problem." Nor did their national customer service seem to care. I've been riding bikes for over fifty years and known lots of riders and have never seen a wheel come off like this. Never!!!! What kind of store sells bikes to kids knowing that the wheels come off "all the time." Frightening. Wish I had read the reviews on how bad this store can be. I love my child and as a protest neither I nor any of my friends or relatives will ever shop at this place unless they change their corporate responsibility policies. If selling products that could hospitalize your child doesn't bother them, maybe a reduced bottom line might get their attention.

Never ever again! I will never go near this site again! I ordered a baseball bat, 3 weeks later I got a pair of gym shorts (they weren't even from Dick's but from sports authority????. How did that happen. Are they sharing my credit information? My name? address? Then when I tried to contact someone, it was a nightmare! It took 5 tries to get someone on the phone. Never Shop here!!!! I ordered an exercise bike along with the warranty, later that day my order was cancelled because it was out of stock. I called customer service and I was told that I was being charged for the warranty, but was not getting the bike (since it was out of stock).
What use is the warranty without the bike? Customer service was rude and they really don’t care about customers. I will never shop at Dick's Sporting Goods ever again in my life!!!!

I've enjoyed the bricks and mortar store, but the online store is too much of a hassle. I ordered an elliptical machine and some other products, and they sent me an e-mail saying that my credit card was having trouble verifying. I called the number in the e-mail and they actually tried to get me to give my credit card information over the phone. I balked, telling them I had no proof this even WAS Dick's Sporting Goods, so then they just asked for my phone number.


They then tell me my order is verified and that I'd receive a confirmation e-mail in a few moments. I checked and indeed I got an e-mail -- that some of the products I wanted are backordered. The e-mail, however, doesn't say which products are backordered or for how long. It also doesn't tell me a web or e-mail address I can contact for more information (although it tells me not to reply to that message).

Aggravating to say the least. My distrust will certainly carry over to the physical store; I doubt I will use them again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM DICKS!!! The exercise bike that we ordered online was damaged on arrival. We called UPS but they could not issue a refund for the purchase amount because Dick's did not place any value on the package. We called Dick's customer service but were told to call Proform for the return even though neither Proform nor exercise bikes are under "Return Exceptions" In fact, the website says that Dick's will accept the return of any damaged item within 30 days of purchase (manufacturer comes in after 30 days). In addition, there were also missing parts from the item. Dick's customer service is rude and very unhelpful. I will never shop at Dick's in the store or online again. Had I read the reviews on this website before purchasing, I would have thought twice about purchasing from Dick's. This is the worst experience that I have ever had ordering online.

They make it clear NOWHERE in the ordering process that their standard shipping time is 9-12 business days (according to the customer service lady i spoke to)!!! WTF, are they sending it by camel? when i called to see if there was any way to expedite the shipping, they said no - it had already gone out. i called approximately 20 seconds after i got the email telling me it would take so long. i understand that if you want stuff super fast, you should pay extra, but since when is standard speed for usps almost 2 weeks? it isn't like i am ordering a bowflex either, it's a watch for god's sake. I placed an order and received an email the same day saying the item shipped. The UPS link said the item was not picked up after two days. After waiting on hold for over half an hour, I was told, everything was fine and the system just didn't show the progress. After paying over $50 for 3 day shipping, I called again when the package did not arrive. Again, I waited on hold for over 30 minutes. And my order was never shipped and they didn't even have the product in stock. They said it would take over 24 hours to refund my credit card and to call back if it didn't show up. I'm not impressed and won't shop there again.

I recently bought 2 water proof cases to hold my cell phones @7.95 ea at Dick's and found the same cases at harbor freight for 2.99 ea. Dicks customer service dept said it is not policy to refund the difference  and nothing they could do. I pointed out that I just spent $2,000 a couple of  weeks ago,  I have shopped at dicks often, but it did not occur to me to look at the reviews, I found it very interesting to find out how unhappy many people were. DICK'S would rather loose a customer and a sale, than to break policy for $10.00. It is not the amount of money, but the principal. I guess I understand what the other people who did reviews were talking about, it was not just me who is unhappy with how customers are treated.  They are very independent and carefree considering the state of our countries economy.  I guess they feel confident their doors will not close. I am certain that Bass Pro Shops and LL Bean will welcome my business. The representatives at Bass Pro Shops and LL Bean are happy to accommodate people who support them.

Shopping experience?? How about flat out fraud? I ordered golf shoes for a birthday present. I received my order confirmation on the 26th of May. I received an email stating that the item had been shipped. I received an email thanking me for my order and soliciting me for more business. After 2 weeks of waiting for 2-3 shipping I called them. They never shipped. They don't even have the product!! I found it amazing that they have amazing follow up until the order doesn't ship. Then they don't contact you at all. They wait until you contact them. So they took my money, they told me they shipped a product complete with a tracking number, but none of it was true.

Now I'm to wait for a refund. Amazing, they earn interest on my money. What a scam! Can this even be legal??

Please, avoid Dick's at all cost.

Purchased a Spartan Sports Royal House II Screen Room on May 13, supposed to be 3-5 days shipping, extra paid for that, should have recieved on May 18, but damaged during shipping and returned to Dicks, spoke to Customer Service, credit given for shipping, no credit until item was entered into system as being recieved back, on May 22, Item reshipped after calls to Corporate Customer Service, received next day, and was put up on June 2, only to have it damaged in rain storm on June 4, called Spartan Sports for replacement parts and was told to call Dicks for work order, called Dicks, placed work order to get parts, and next day found out that no parts are available even though 30 day guarantee was in effect, credit given again, and also gave me $25.00 credit towards next purchase, HA, if I ever, and apologies all around, but still no screen room and after fruitless attempts to make someone accountable for this disaster.

I will never buy anything on line again. I ordered something on-line and my order was canceled by Dick's several days later because they had the incorrect price listed on the web site. I spent HOURS trying to speak to a live person but kept getting disconnected. I finally gave up, called my local store and explained the problem Unlike the on-line group, the management at the local store went over and above to correct the problem. The manager I spoke to was getting ready to go home for the day when I called, but stayed until the problem was resolved. He honored the price listed on the web and I had the product in my home before the "customer dis-service" folks from Dick's on-line got back to me. I received an e-mail from them offering a 20% discount on the item. The store will stand behind the website, but the website staff won't - go figure. I learned my lesson and will ALWAYS shop at the store.

I have been looking to purchase an elliptical for some time now and I finally found one I liked at dickssportinggoods.com ....plus it had free shipping!! So I decided to buy it, but when I went to make the purchase...I realized they do not let their customers use their own store's credit card! I even called customer service to make sure I wasn't crazy and they affirmed what happened...you cannot use your Dick's Sporting Goods credit card on THEIR OWN WEBSITE!! What a load of crap! After all this I still wanted the machine very badly...so I went to the store...the only place in the world I can use my useless credit card...and of course, they did not have the machine I wanted. They had about 5 to select from and none of them were as good as the one I had picked out. Needless to say...I will not be buying a machine from Dick's and I will do my best to give them as little business as possible. They obviously don't want my business that bad anyway!!!

I received my order 3 days before Christmas, which was before my item was supposed to arrive. However, I got completely the wrong item shipped to me and was informed that what I order was no longer in stock so I couldn't get it for Christmas anymore. I had to wait on hold for 45 minutes the first time I called to talk to an agent. Then I was told to call back when I had shipped my item(I only had to wait 30 minutes this time to talk to someone) to get my refund..which they said would take 3-5 business days to receive. It has now been over a week and still no refund. What a horrible experience.

I would not take a chance on this website again. I placed an order on 11/16/05 for Christmas items. I placed a second order on 11/28/05. The order placed on the 28th shipped Dec. 3rd. The order placed on 11/16/05 still hasn't even shipped. I have called them twice -- the first time I was on hold 30 minutes, the second 45 min. Both times I was told that they had no idea when my items would ship. They said that they would send an email to the warehouse, but I still have heard nothing and Christmas is over. I am going to call one more time to cancel my order.

28 March Still getting run around from this place. They will not refund in any way except the original form of payment but if it is a credit or debit card they like to try to refund them to a gift card if you split the payment. Also you will not find any further help in customer service then a supervisor on the phone you must write for anyone higher. I suggest if you keep getting run around contact your state attorney general. The first thing they will need is the address because you can not find it anywhere, but I am going to post it

Ordered a treadmill on-line on Jan. 1, 2005. The order was processed and located in their warehouse as being in stock. I even called customer "service" four times to verify availability of the item and to make sure the price was correct. The CS agent assured me that if I ordered the item and the posted price, Dick's would have to honor it. Today, Jan. 4, the order was cancelled due to a "pricing discrepancy on (our) website." Dick's has offered me a 20% discount which wouldn't even cover the cost of shipping a treadmill. They are dishonest and do not stand by what their agents claim. Do not do business with Dick's Sporting Goods.

The website was slow and difficult to navigate. Placed my order on December 15th for so called "guaranteed Christmas delivery". My order didn't ship for an entire week (was supposed to be 1-2 business days). Customer service was horrible, and one fella named Dillon actually hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor. Turns out you can't cancel an order even if it hasn't processed or shipped. By the time partial delivery was attempted, it was December 30th, the other part was Jan 3rd. I will never order anything from Dicks again!!!

Needed a small propane space heater "buddy" heater. Salesperson listened to what i was looking for and for what purpose and then suggested a unit. When I began looking at a higher btu/h unit he strongly advised against it. Boy am I glad I listened. Not only did I save money but also grief as the larger unit would have been overkill. I ordered a college bed spread from DIck's on 12/10/05 when plenty were in stock for the particular university I selected. The order arrive on 12/17/05. I opened the package and it was a bed spread from the wrong university. I called to have the item re-ordered and expedited but the item was no longer in stock and would not be able to ship for 2 to 3 weeks (whoops!, missed Christmas). In addition, the bed spread could not be overnighted and the customer service representative did not know why (nor did she care to find out why). The customer service representative could not give any information beyond the computer screen in front of her face, nor did she care. Dick's is the ONLY online vendor that will not have its product to me in time for Christmas. If you need it in or hurry or by a specific date, DO NOT CALL DICK"S!!!!!!

I ordered an inclined sit-up bench for my daughter. I received confirmation almost immediately and the next day a Fed Ex tracking number. The package never arrived. I called Fed Ex and was told that they'd received a packing label generation request but there was no indication of a pick up scan from the warehouse. Fed Ex directed me to contact Dick's. When I did, they confirmed that there was no indication that the package was ever actually shipped. When I asked that the package be shipped, I was told that a carrier inquiry had to be initiated first and it would be several days before that was completed. They also told me once it was confirmed the carrier had never picked up the package, the best they could do would be to credit my card the amount of the purchase. They had no way of just re-shipping the item. So much for the free shipping offer! It's amazing that a store like Dick's Sporting Goods can have such an inefficient on-line store. I'm very disappointed with them. And be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes before actually speaking to a customer service representative.

I have read many reviews here and noticed that many of the problems people are facing are typical with e-commerce sites. Now, as far as the customer service being rude and unhelpful, imagine yourself sitting behind a phone, listening to people like you complaining all day, and having managers brow beat you to get to the next call. That is what call centers are all about. I am not defending them for being jerks to you, but have a little compassion. And a suggestion to the folks buying treadmills online, it is really best to go to a store and have someone show you the features of each and match you to a treadmill. I suspect that if you all did get your treadmills on-time and you set them up, there would be something else to blame on Dick's like the belt is too narrow or you can't figure out the computer or it goes too fast. Lighten up. Go to a store if you can. That is why they are there. And for anyone that is curious, i have purchased clothes and shoes and fishing equipment from the site and there have been no problems.

Dicks online is the worst store I have ever ordered from and I promise I will never order again from. I purchased a product for a Christmas present at the end of OCT. My daughter opened the gift and it was the wrong size. by Jan 1 I mailed the item back at my expense and 49 days later I get the box returned because I wasn’t in the 30 day window to return it? I call and they argue that I had 30 days I shouldn’t have started shopping so early. Nothing they would do no return, no refund, no exchange, nothing. They packed and shipped me a golf club with a broken shaft(the box was in perfect condition on arrival).Now six weeks after my return of the damaged item I still haven't received a refund, store credit, or a new club, any of which would have satisfied me. Purchased a Perfect Pullup unit about a year ago. Using it recently and one of the handles snapped in half. Fortunately, it didn't lead to an injury. Called Dick's Sporting Goods located in DeWitt New York only to be told that they had a 90 day return policy and I also needed the receipt. I have spent a lot of money there and I was surprised that they wouldn't budge from their policy - especially since I only wanted a replacement of a part that snapped in half as I was using it which could have led to an injury. In addition, no matter when I go into this branch of Dick's there always is a long line. I will take my business elsewhere. I suggest trying Sport Authority.

Waited a week and then was told they cancelled the order because they made a mistake on pricing.  Called customer service and was given the run around.  Was told I would get an answer in 72 hours!!  Not Binoculars, no service, no satisfaction. Blamed it all on Steiner......All Dick's orders are drop shipped!!!   They put a hold on my money for a week and it was unavailable to me to go somewere else to purchase.  How many other errors are on thier web site and will cause a long delays do they have?  Run don't walk away from this online scam.  Was told I could re-place my order and wait another week and see if it would be filled?

After reading many poor reviews on Dick's Sporting Goods Customer Service, I was hesitant to order from them, but wanted the Coleman Linden 8 tent which apparently is made exclusively made for them.  I needed it in a relatively short time frame (10 days) so I bit the bullet and ordered.  I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived in good condition as advertised 4 days after I'd ordered it.  Although I've not had to deal with any issues with them, the ordering and delivery process went flawlessly and am please with the service and product.

I will never shop here again... I fond an instore deal on some paint for a paintball gun... They redirected me online saying that the same deal was there... not only was it not, but they wanted to charge me 10 dollars for shipping... I went back to the store and told the very same representative and she said she never talked to me and would never had said that... I ended up ordering a Paintball mask offline... $10 shipping and it took almost a month to get here... What did I pay 10 dollars for? Them to walk it here?

If you are considering buying a product from Dick's Sporting Goods Online Store(DSGOS), all I can suggest is ....RUN AWAY! All kidding aside, I ordered a rowing machine from this company over a month ago and because of a missing part not yet received and horrible customer service, I am still unable to use the machine.

I realize that the actual company (Spartan) is to blame for the missing part, but DSGOS's customer service is dispicable. After being misinformed when ordering the missing part (CSR told me I would receive it via FedEx overnight when in fact it is being delivered USPS ground), I called back to inquire to its whereabouts and apparently bothered the CSR rep with my questions causing her to hang up on me, which as anyone knows is a great way to satisfy your customers! I've since called back only to be told I would have to wait another day or two just to hear back from them as to where the package is. Somehow I doubt that DSGOS would tolerate my missing payment as well as they've expected me to handle this fiasco.
