Take way too long to ship items that are "in stock"

I ordered a video at dicksportinggoods.com and was not notified that it would take up to 4 business days for my item to ship. Even though my item was "located in stock" the very same day I ordered it. Most good internet retailers will ship the same day provided they receive your order before 12pm. Had I known it would have taken this long I would have not ordered the video. When I called to cancel the video after the 3rd business day I was told it would take 1 full business day to process my request. WTF! Upon asking the customer service rep I called, the lady had no idea why it takes them 4 business days to ship items they have in stock. So, by the time my request went through my video shipped (of course). So, when it's all said and done I should receive my video over a week and a half later after ordering it. Even though my item was located in stock the same day I ordered it. This is the second bad shipping/waiting experience I've had with Dick's so needless to say I won't be ordering from them any more.

Fast, cheap, but weird website

Ordered the PS UNI X Cycle on 08/10/2004 and received it 08/13/2004. It was in good condition and I was able to put it together effortlessly. I was very pleased. I especially liked the specials they had: $15 off of select merchandise that's over $100. This made my purchase much cheaper than anywhere else. The only drawback I see is their online tracking system. Everything was fine, until I looked up my order one day and it said I hadn't made an order! I was shocked, contacted customer service, who confirmed that I had indeed made an order, but they could not explain why online, their website said I had not. Nevertheless, the order still came early and in very good condition.

Bad! December 15, 2006 ordered x-mas gifts to be shipped directly to relatives. On the 18th, I noticed not shipped yet, reassured when I called it would be sent on 19th. On 20th, reassured they would mailed it ASAP w/a x-mas guarantee. Dec 24 (x-mas eve)received an email stating the ordered had been canceled and my card was not charged. How nice of them since they had literally screwed me from getting presents to kids. If they didn't have the product, 10 days before, I could have gone elsewhere and then my folks would have received the gifts. Now x-mas eve they tell me. I have asked to be contacted by a supervisor they said it would take 24 to 72 hours. However, it has now been a week. So, I am venting here!

My elliptical trainer was delivered to me in a crushed, ripped open box. The product itself was damaged with
nuts and bolts loose in box and falling out of holes that were in the box. I will never order from this store again!

Dicks Sporting Goods online purchase is unacceptable. I ordered an item online and they sent me a random generic item in place. When I called to get it taken care she had said that I will be getting a return slip in my email. It takes 3 days for the return slip to be sent out. This is terrible if you need to return it quick so you can purchase another item elsewhere. This policy needs to be addressed ASAP.

Absolutely awful experience. Will never buy from them again.
Tried to buy a ski jacket but the closest store didn't have the right size. So found one at a different store 40 minutes away. Called to see if I could pay for it over the phone with as credit card, but was told they don't "do" that. Nor could they transfer it to the nearest store. So ordered it online. Just received an email saying they have a problem with the address and cannot ship the order. There is nothing wrong with the address, it's a regular residential address, and I've had hundreds of things shipped to that address over the years. I'm the director of support at a local consulting company and am just appalled by the lack of customer service.
Will never shop there again, and they just lost a customer that spends a good chunk of cash there on a yearly basis. Shop somewhere else.

Another Company substituting USPS mailing for shipping

Ordered items August 30 & they said Free Shipping on my items. Now 21 days later and I don't have the items they say they "mailed it" & didn't ship it. They say their website mentions that they can substitute mailing items instead of shipping them. BULLCRAP.
The items I ordered clothing & lights for a gunsafe are not CD's or electronic media. That is what their website says that they mail. Shipping sections of website NEVER MENTION substituting shipping methods for clothing. Mailing is NOT shipping.
My mailing address is different from my shipping address because I live in the sticks. My Law Enforcement occupation doesn't allow me to have a mailbox so consequently I did NOT get their "mailed" package.
What a lousy online .com to substitute mailing packages
when the website clearly says free ground shipping on orders over $99.

Bad and got worse

I ordered an item from this store and have not gotten it yet. I live in the same area as their warehouse (according to the person I spoke with) which is also located where UPS hub is at. After not receiving the item I called customer service three times and got a different story each time. They gave me a tracking number and then on my second call to customer service (those words need to be removed from the English language) I was informed that although it was shipped through UPS it was a different type of service and therefore it was not actually tracked. Makes perfect sense to me, thats why they issue tracking numbers. I will never buy anything from them or their retail outlets again.

I have never been so dissatisfied with a specific store as I am with Dicks Sporting Goods. First of all, they list on their web site that an item I ordered for my 12 yr. old for Christmas as "BEING IN STOCK, AND LEAVES THE WAREHOUSE IN 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS". So, I placed the order. The next day however, I receive an email stating "this is an advanced sale item, and it is not available for shipment", you will be notified by email when it becomes available. 2 months later, and one week before Christmas, and having made numerous phone calls to inquire about the item being shipped, and getting a line of B.S. every time from every customer service representative I spoke with, I determined that the item obviously wasn't going to arrive to me in time for Christmas even it by some miracle it did finally reach their warehouse from the vendor. The item should not have been an "Advance sale", and the web page certainly gives inadequate information by stating it is "in stock and leaves warehouse in 7-10 business days".

Bogus Promo Codes Expires Day Before Order

Used promotional code during checkout process and Dick's checkout page accepted code and applied to most expensive item. Now customer service is trying to say coupon expired the day before I placed my order and they will not honor. Charge will be for full amount. I read on other sites that their promotional codes expire rather quickly so I have to assume this is what they are referring too. Also, the order was for 2 items but I am being charged for 2 other items I did not order. One item not ordered has already been received but they will not credit my charge card until they receive the item back and I cannot send back until I receive paperwork from them which can take up to 3 weeks to receive. I will never order from this online store again! Worst experience I have ever had!

Avoid Dick's Sporting Goods

I was overcharged for shipping on an order where I used a gift card and charged the balance to a credit card. The item description screamed "Free Shipping & Free Return Shipping." However, when I added it to my shopping cart a shipping charge was included. I called customer service and they said don't worry about it because the shipping charge would be deducted when I complete the transaction. WRONG! I foolishly completed the order and had to call their inept customer service yet again. They did credit the amount back - TO THE GIFT CARD! They refuse to transfer the credit to my credit card from which the overcharge was originally paid. In short, they turn their screw-up to their own advantage by requiring me to make another purchase from them in order to liquidate the gift card balance.
From the looks of their ratings, this unmitigated audacity is very myopic and will cost them dearly in the long run. I recommend everyone avoid Dick's Sporting Goods.

POOR shopping experience.

I purchased E95-elliptical machine worth ($1699.99) in May 2008 and received the delivery in June exactly after 21 days. The machine had a part that was bend that holds the fly wheel-----bottom line the machine is not operational. For last 16 days I have been calling them almost every day so I know the status and have talked to multiple customer service personal, supervisor, and sales manager so I can get a replacement. Every person I spoke to say we have no clue why we have not called you but we were suppose to call you and let you know the status.
Bottom line I got the word I will be receiving a new machine yesterday but I will have to wait for another 16 days and thats not acceptable. I told them I need to speak to Public Relations dept but they gave me a run around and I even called the corporate head quarters but they say since the purchase was made online they cant be of much help.
I will not recommend anyone to buy anything with dickssportinggoods.com because the customer service does gives whole lot of run-a round.

I shopped on-line a Dick's about 6 months ago.
DON'T DO ON-LINE BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY "DICK'S SPORTING GOODS)!!! BEWARE!!!
They allowed my credit card to be used by a thief to purchase a on-line gift certificate they they emailed to the person and refused to cancel after I noticed the fraudulent charges to my account the following day!!! THEY WOULDN'T CANCEL THE CHARGES OR CANCEL THE CERTIFICATE FOR $200.00. Don't be surprised if someone at Dick's uses your credit card information at some point to buy personal stuff... Good Luck!
