Pros: Cheap used (sometimes new) books and other goods. Cons: Each purchase is a lottery ticket.
Half .com, now owned by eBay, is a different kind of auction site. Unlike eBay, prices on half.com are set in stone by the seller and there's essentially no communication (permitted) between the buyer and seller.
I was happy with half.com...

Pros: Large selection Cons: Half.com policies protect fraudulent sellers - Lousy customer service
I attempted to buy 4 different items from Half.com:
- On 2 of the items, it took several days to hear back from the seller that they were out of stock, despite being listed as "in stock" - very frustrating. On the 3rd item, I did get the...

Pros: Extensive inventory, reasonable prices, well organized web site, direct deposit payments for sellers Cons: Search engine bug, poor buyer/seller communication
How Does It Work?
Half.com is one of the very best websites on the Internet for what it does--bringing buyers and sellers together. Since they are associated with EBay, the site is well organized and functions very similarly, but it...

Pros: Excellent interface for shopping from competitive vendors; great prices and service. Cons: Indiscreet search engine; multiple vendors means multiple shipping charges.
... I could buy loads more stuff at Half.Com.
I just finished my first shopping experience there. What I mean by this is that I have located, ordered, received and been billed for the products I wanted. No shopping experience is complete until...

Pros: Clockwork process--list it, sell it; see it, buy it. Cons: Transactions work without a safety net for the most part; search results sometimes spurious.
I've been a member of Half.com, buying and selling for almost two years now. They're doing alright by me, perhaps I'm just lucky. I started with them way back before they were bought by eBay and were just selling used books that couldn't be listed for...

Pros: Affordable, quality product, easy to sell extra stuff Cons: Shipping items out can be expensive.
Lets just start by saying Half.com is one of my favorites, I have been using it for about 1.5 years now. It certainly is not perfect, but I actually prefer it to ebay. Half.com is owned and run by ebay as an alternative to the bidding world. To me, its...

Pros: Lots of new and used items at low prices. Cons: Absolutely NO seller protection against buyer fraud. VERY poor feedback system.
As a long time user of Ebay I found it a refreshing change to sell items on Half.com. No auctioning, no hassle. You list your items, name your price and wait for the buyers to come to you. Sounds great, right? Wrong.
Beneath the surface of...

Pros: Easy to use and great low prices Cons: Shipping
Yes, I have started my Christmas Shopping already. I had heard about Half.com from a friend who sells through them and I thought I would look. I was having a problem finding a CD for my son.
I went to the site and was amazed. There are...

I've used Half.com for about a year now as both a seller and a buyer in almost 1500 transactions. It's a great site, but people -- both sellers and buyers -- need to pay better attention to details.
First off, Half has improved some things...

I no longer trust buying from Half.com. Besides all the problems I have as a seller, like not being able to communicate with the buyer and not having any kind of buyer rating to see who I might be selling to or warn others, the worst problem yet is,...

I have bought and sold items thru half.com for about a year, finding it more suitable for my needs than ebay, even tho they are now connected. With ebay, you list an item for sale, and it is then offered for auction. You must pay a fee to list items to...

I've shopped with Half.com many times with much success, but I have to warn you in case you do encounter a problem like mine. Last year, before the ebay affiliation, I didn't receive my book order. I notified Half.com who instantly credited my payment, ...

Buyer beware!
The concept behind Half.com is great. I purchased 5 DVDs at reasonable prices. This I attribute to the sellers on Half.com. Unfortunately, the caliber of the Half.com customer support/service is not as high as that of the...

This automated non-auction store works fine as long as you don't have a problem. If you want to tell them anything, though, God help you. They make themselves unavailable except through a canned Q&A system so cumbersome, clueless, unresponsive, and ...
