This is my little story of an internet business called Music123.com and my adventure to get a 7 string guitar. It's a little long so you might want to go grab a cup of hot chocolate and sit back and relax. I give you my saga.
Take my advice and do Not do business with Music123. They canceled my order and never even thought to tell me about it. It's been 2 weeks and I am still trying to get my funds returned. I have been very cordial with the customer reps and they have all but stopped any comunication with me as to when my funds are going to be returned.
The order they did ship me was supposed to ship via USPS and they shipped it UPS, when I asked why, they said I should have ordered on the phone if I wanted it shipped USPS, DUH! there own website said it would ship USPS, like it's my fault they screwed up.

Their return policy can end up costing you more than you might expect. I had ordered a guitar gig bag for my granddaughter for a Christmas present. I had ordered the wrong size and needed to return/exchange it. I got a RA number and used the return label as requested. It was not a prepaid label, as I found out when I went to mail the package. Since the item was oversized the cost of returning it would have cost me twice the amount in shipping as originally quoted by Music123. Actually the cost of all shipping charges including original, return, and shipping of exchange item would cost as much as the gig bag. Plus the price of the exchange item had increased 60% since Christmas. Needless to say I did not reorder. Many online stores offer free exchange shipping or prepaid labels that ship at discount rates. It is obvious that Music123 does not want to bother with returns.

I bought a guitar on their website that I had researched for some time. Music123 had the best price ($100.00 less than the competition) with free ground shipping and expected delivery of 6 to 9 days. I received my instrument in showroom condition in 7 days. Although I have some issues with the guitar manufacturer, Music123 was superb. I have no reason to contact customer service, except to say thanks, so I have no opinion in that regard. I received exactly what I ordered, at a great price, in the delivery time that I was quoted. I am very satisfied with Music123 and will purchase from them again, soon.
I ordered an Ibanez bass off of music123. I chose the free shipping because I'm cheap, and as usual I was promised 5-7 business days. Little did I know that that meant 3 and a half weeks. Items listed as In Stock are not and need to be backordered. Orders above a certain dollar amount require a call to customer service from your billing phone line to verify, delaying the order processing further. No on-line tracking for most items, only the item of an order that ships first. Contradictory statements as to availability and shipping dates from customer service. Will avoid using this company in the future. Compared to other online outlets, these folks have no business selling online. Dealing with them is like a trip back to the 1970s.

They sent me a guitar worth $2500 via UPS no signature required. I tracked the shipment and discovered that it was left on my porch. It wasn't and Music123 could have cared less and gave me the royal run around.

I pre-ordered a Gibson Robot Guitar at their store on 1-11-08. Received a email verifying my purchase. Checking my order status showed "approved order". On 1-14, I emailed customer support asking for status, and received no reply. On 1-15, called their customer support, who said there was a problem with my credit card. My credit card company said there was no problem, that no order had been placed. Called customer support back, and after holding for 10 minutes, was told that they took more orders than they actually had product to fill them, and in truth, that was the hold up. There was no contact from them to me about this order, nor was it updated to show any problem on their web site. This is a horrible way to do business. They must take their business model from the airlines. Don't buy from these people.

I called and got through to customer support via phone. Music123 informed me that they canceled my order on 12/18/2007 because the product was not in stock. They apologized for not informing me and offered to sell me other products.
It is ridiculous that I had to wait 10 days to hear that my order was canceled. I cannot and will not do business with this company again. I was unable to contact them for over a week. I suggest you steer clear from this company.

I placed a phone order and was given an order number and told I would receive an e-mail. Weeks later I had still received nothing in e-mail or shipped to me. A call to customer service turned up no trace of the order, after much waiting on hold. The best they could offer me was free expedited shipping if I placed the order AGAIN, but they don't deserve my money and I don't feel like wasting my time. No wonder they are going under if they can't even keep orders that have already been placed! Avoid at all costs.

i will never buy from music 123 ever again. they let you order items that are out of stock, but do not send you an email to tell you they are out of stock until two days later. the drum set ended up getting here on time, however it broke after two days. when receiving the drum module, the box was not even taped shut or sealed. that may explain why it stopped working.
It took music 123 three days to get me a shipping label so i could return the drums. then they tried to tell me it would be a month or longer before i could get my money back because they were "backed up in the warehouse". worst customer service ever.

I purchased a lot of equipment from Music123 in the past (14 previous orders). But during the past two months, they shipped wrong items to me on every order ! And they still haven't corrected the problems - the items I originally ordered are no longer in stock, so I've been waiting for backorders over one month.
Music123 used to be good, but now they are terrible. Their quality has declined since they are now associated with Musician's Friend. I will never buy from them again !
I placed an order with Music123 on 11/02 for $227.08. Long story short, they overcharged me $10.61. By the time I realized what theyd done, the balance in my checking account was negative, and I ended up with $90 in overdraft fees.
I had to contact them multiple times before getting someone to admit that they made a mistake. (The first guy I spoke with had obviously never even visited their website.) They eventually apologized and issued a $25 refund.
I called my bank to dispute the overdraft fees. I had to fax them a copy of my invoice and several other documents. Im still waiting for them to decide whether they will drop the fees. (They said that the process would take ten days.)
Also, the items I ordered arrived poorly packaged and dirty--like theyd been sitting in a dusty warehouse for a few years.
Ive been ordering online for years, and Im easy to please, but ordering from Music123 was a disaster. I will NEVER order from them again.

Their credit card verification scheme is broken and I couldn't get an CC telephone verified after three tries.
Their website is buggy. If you request to be notified when a product is available, and then order something else later, the first product will automatically be added to your order. I had requested to be notified when a white 80g ipod was available. I then placed an order for a black ipod and only when I got email notification could did I see that they were trying to sell me both. My account status on their website still shows both -- they ignored my phone calls and emails.
Ordered a PA system on 8/25/07. It is now 9/9/07 and I have received 4 different shipments. I wasn't too concerned until they charged my credit card and I am without one of the Speaker cabinets.
Bad place. Read the other negative reviews and realize that this bad service is the norm here.

They also stand behind their purchases. I had 2 items that wasn't quite right and they Did exchange them.
They also have very fast delivery service.
So, look no more for any better prices around, because I have already done the research and Music 123.com IS the best prices and service.

After placing a few orders with Music123 some of the items were on backorder and supposed to ship within 30 days. So 40 days later I contacted them to inquire about the items (I did so politely), The customer sales lady was very snooty and rude from the get go ..and kept putting me on hold for long periods of time.
She finally told me that one of those items had shipped 20 days prior with no further info(still haven't received the item 1 mo.after the supposed shipping date)and the other she said they might not be getting back instock and tried to issue me store credit in which I insisted on a refund. She then gave a long irritated sigh and raising her voice said "OK" Then she abruptly Hung-up phone on me. This is very similar to an experience I had with MF(but thats another review). I will stick with Zzounds from now on.

My order was placed in December as a Christmas present. It's now the end of April and still no product...and no explanation from Music123. I did receive one item I ordered, but the item I still don't have is apparently out of stock...even though the web site and my order confirmation clearly said it was in stock. After not hearing anything for three months I've now been calling Customer Service for a month. I get a different answer every time I call. I'm fist told it is in stock and they will ship it immediately. When it doesn't arrive I'm told that it must have been an inventory glitch...it really isn't in stock. Next I'm told "good news" your product is being shipped. When it doesn't arrive I'm told that "being shipped" meant that the manufacturer was shipping them to Music123...but that they didn't ship them. I do find the comments about the company being "sold" to be amusing. The wait times on the phone are crazy...and they've yet to answer the first e-mail. They can't manage to find my product, but they CAN manage to authorize my debit card every two weeks.
I purchased a stand with an oboe peg and an English horn peg on Feb 12. The Oboe peg and the stand were delivered in a timely manner. The English horn peg was not included in my order, and there was nothing on the packing slip to indicate if it was back ordered or an estimated ship date. I emailed them at least four times, with absolutely no response. They told me that the product was back ordered, when I contacted them by telephone in late February, and said it would be shipped in early March. It is now March 20, with no English Horn peg in sight. I contacted the company again by email (no response). I finally called the company again and they said they shipped the item today, but did not have a tracking number.
I would not recommend this retailer due to their poor customer service. Buy from Musician's friend instead.
I purchased a set of Seymour Duncan pickups on 4 January 2007 and paid immediately with PayPal, order number 4426473. I paid for premium shipping to Cape Town, South Africa. It is now 19 February 2007 and I have still not received the goods. I have sent them countless of emails to ask for an explanation and they have not had the decency to reply to even ONE of them!
Does anyone know how frustrating it is for a South African to save up and pay top Dollars for a product from a so called top online company and then being treated so badly!
Whether this product will ever arrive I don't know but what I DO know is that I will never ever shop at music123.com again!

I ordered two Remo percussion drums @ Music123 on 18-Jul-2006 and was informed that the drums would arrive at the store on 02-Aug and 17-Aug, respectively. At the end of August nothing has been heard or seen from the order. Upon request Music123 told me that they haven't received the goods. In turn, the manufacturer told me that they haven't seen any order yet! After some back and forth between me, Music123 and Remo, the drums were finally shipped on 09-Oct and 13-Nov-2006.
The bottom line: More than 4 month to complete the order, and no responses unless you ask (and even then not helpful at all). BTW, if you pay with PayPal your money is gone when you place the order.

Saxguys assessment of the Bankruptcy and the status of WWBW is not true...I am on the Senior Management team for the company and everything is running at Status Quo. We are re issuing PO's for Backordered items. We want to service all of our customers during the Christmas season. Many of our vendors are long-time friends and are seeking to help us through this event by providing product quickly. If you want to know more about the particulars of this Bankruptcy...do some homework on a 363 Chapter 11 filing.
There are 250 employees dedicated to servicing you our customer...many (including myself) are musicians who depend on you for their livelihood. Customer Service will not change...nor will any of our current return standards! Buy with confidence as you always have!

I ordered 6 items. Three were in stock and three were on back order. On the web site it states that you can expect back order items in 2-3 weeks. I received the in-stock items 2 weeks later. I spent the next 2 months checking on the status of my order. I got several different stories about when I could expect my items but no one was apologetic or seemed to care at all. At one point they told me that one of my items was in, then next time I talked to them it was not. Did they give it to another customer?
I asked if they could give a discount, overnight the items when they got them in, throw in a pair of drum sticks, something. The answer was no. After two months of stringing me along I was told that it might be another month before they got it in and I cancelled my order. At least they let me do that.

I guess I was under the false impression if there is a picture of three cowbells, I would receive three cowbells! I also assumed that since the description does not give you an option to select which of the three cowbells in the picture would be shipped, that the set was a bundled package.
When I contacted customer service regarding the incomplete shipment, they would not make it right or give me any sort of discount. I feel very much like a victim of bait and switch.

We ordered 2 items totaling $518.00. Both were supposedly shipped next day. We received tracking info for both items via email and received 1 item 4 days later. We never received the other. We called Music123 cust. service and were told (after being kept on hold for 1/2 hour) that the 2nd item was stuck in Chicago. Fine. We then called Fedex( the shipping service Music123 used) and were told by them that they had No Record of a 2nd package addressed to us! Called Music123 again and was told-by a very rude, bordering on hostile Rep.- that the second item was back-ordered and would be shipping soon, this after the 1st Music123 Rep. we spoke to had lied and said that both items had already shipped! wtf?!?
Long story short the item we did receive was returned and the entire order cancelled.
Please, anyone thinking of doing business with these losers be very, very careful. Or better yet, reconsider and shop somewhere else!

This is a horrible seller. I will NEVER do business with them again. I purchased a $1,500 Yamaha Xeno trumpet from them. They would not honor the price they gave me over the phone. I received a defective instrument. They were unhelpful on the phone and would not respond to e-mail. I had to resolve the problem directly with Yamaha. I buy almost everything online. This was by far my WORST experience. BEWARE!!!"

I purchased and paid for an order of 3 sets of Daisy Rock guitar picks from Music 123 in Feb 2006, by May, they had still not been delivered and I cancelled the order. On April 14, 2006 I purchased 3 more sets of Daisy rock guitar picks because they had a free shipping deal. It is now September 19, 2006 and they still have not been shipped. Music 123 is a lousy competitor to Musician's Friend who I have had no problems with when ordering anything. I ended up ordering the Daisy Rock picks from Musician's Friend at a higher price but received them within a week. My advice is do not use Music 123. Oh, and the customer service rep I talked to when I cancelled my first order was very rude.

My credit card was charged and I was unable to cancel my 2 items, (guitar string and an acoustic guitar), service says its too late, and my order was finally shipped without my Guitar!!! Order status say Guitar was shipped and order completed. I received only guitar string (hey its high-priced for each guitar string about $60!!!). Customer service did no answer about many emails and fax I have sent... Im in twilight zone with no guitar, no answer and still waiting, very sleazy!!! Its first time I halved problems with on-line shopping and goodness knows that I have made many transactions on-line before. I dont know if I will have a result or if I will have to dispute for the money. Im very tire and disgust to fight with them.

I've dealt with a number of on-line music retailers, and of that group, Music123 is probably the worst when it comes to customer service. Their prices are good, on-line selection is good, and ordering is easy- but heaven forbid you should call them with a question, or try to return a defective item.
These days I'll use them for something like strings or picks or drumheads, but I'd never order a guitar or other expensive item from them.

Horrible Experience!!! Christmas presents were never shipped and I wound up canceling my order when it did not arrive for Christmas. I ordered on December 10th!! Horrible communication, no follow up and the web site never updates or provides a tracking number. Every communication was initiated by me and they dropped the ball every time. Of course they did manage to charge my credit card quickly and accurately!!

Got a great deal on a great guitar that was shipped the next day after we paid for it. Unfortunately, Music123 did not request signature confirmation and Federal Express delivered to the wrong address and the package is now lost. Music123 will not reimburse, refund, or reship the products. Melissa at Music123 said the company is not responsible for ensuring accurate delivery but said a claim was filed on our behalf with Federal Express. Fedex says it ain't so. That's all the company will do and hasn't responded to letters and faxes. A week before Christmas and we are out $1,400 and a big Christmas gift.

I ordered a digital recorder from Music123, which arrived as scheduled. Unfortunately, the item had been previously opened, was missing its power cord, and was an old production run which needed to be returned to the manufacturer to function correctly. I emailed Music123 customer service immediately, and repeatedly for the next several days, since I never received any response. In fact, after almost a month, I still have received no response. After I protested the charge on my credit card, I receive a return shipping label, still with no comment from Music123 on why they had sold a used item as new. Calling customer service, they could not confirm receipt of the returned item (despite UPS delivery confirmation), but did tell me it takes 10-business days for Music123 to transport such items "across the street" from their receiving dept to their warehouse. They could not confirm when, or if, a replacement would be shipped. In short, Music123's service was dishonest, non-responsive, inefficient and completely frustrating.
Unfortunately I cannot rave about these folks. On previous purchases (small items like strings) I had no need of customer service. This time I purchased a guitar and received a Jazz Bass. Customer service does not answer emails. Customer service does not answer the phone (automated system - call is transferred to "attendant", but never answered. I will not be shopping here again.
The order was messed up from the get go. Was supposed to ship UPS 2 day. Took them 3 days to ship it and then sent it by Fed Ex. Item arrived severely damaged. Took them a full day to reply and only because I called and waited on hold for a customer service rep for 20 minutes. She was rude too! The whole return process took 9 days when all that was needed was to issue a stinking call tag. One rep hung up on me because I got upset with her. The only plus was that once the order was picked up by UPS they did manage to credit us right away rather than making us wait for days longer. I would not shop here again. Yeah, the price was great but they messed up the order, it arrived damaged and they don't seem to care about keeping customers. Certainly not willing to expedite things. Having to wait 48 hours for an emailed reply or on hold for 20 minutes for customer service is just plain unacceptable.

Shopping at music123 was the worst online shopping experience I've ever had.
I ordered a workingman's 12 bass combo amp & cover on 9/19/05. the cover arrived in 3 days. The website boasted free and quick shipping times, and the amp was supposedly in stock.
after a week I sent an email to customer service trying to find out what was going on. No response.
I called, spent hours total on hold trying to find out what the story was. I finally cancelled the amp and ordered it from SWEETWATER (it came from Sweetwater in 4 days). Then I found out that the cover that came from music123 didn't even fit the Workingman's 12!
I returned the amp cover and it still took more emails and more phone calls to resolve the $17.99 that wouldn't go away. Music123 "refunded" the $17.99, but left a $0.58 balance on my account. I'm still emailing and calling to get rid of this $0.58, and get rid of MUSIC123.

These guys have the WORST Customer Service I have ever dealt with in any company. Their reps hang up on you. Just call them and when they quickly tell you their name so that you won't understand it, ask them to repeat it. They hang up. Ask them what their operator number is - they hang up. They all are in on this game they play, knowing that there is nothing you can do about it. They are rude. The time waiting to speak to one is unbearable. Then they usually do not know what is going on.
I ordered a Fender Rumble 100 amp over a week ago. In their advertisement, it states that availability is 3 to 5 days. Yet, they still do not have an amp to send me. It does not take a week to get an amp from ANYWHERE in the U.S. so they are just crapping out on me as usual.
Why do I buy from them? Prices, convenience of my MUSIC123 credit card, other than that, I would never buy from these bozos. They truly suck!

Ordered a flute 8/24/05; rec'd quickly, but it was defective. Called CS, very nice - sent a UPS label and offered to advance-replace the flute if I gave them a CC#. I did, but they did not Advance-replace the flute because they used the WRONG number (a debit card they also had) that was denied for this type of transaction. FINALLY, 2nd flute arrives. SAME DEFECT. Wonderful. Called CS - again, very nice, sent UPS label, etc., but I told them I didn't want to replace the flute and made that very clear on the paperwork that I sent back with the flute. Today, rec'd email that they are sending replacement flute. Called CS - they said that the records show that I ordered an advance-replacement (which wasn't what this third flute would have been anyway since they didn't ship it out until the 2nd flute was rec'd there). They are incompetent, have NO quality control, can't keep anything straight, do NOT answer email, so don't bother. I am SO through with this company -- and I hope they just go out of business, because their business practices are appalling.
Terrible overall. Received part of the order OK. A month after I placed the order I still had not received two of the items I ordered. Made numerous calls to customer service, but no one has a clue. When you call customer service you will need lots of time and patience. Be ready to wait 20 to 30 minutes before you can speak to someone.
I finally got one of the items missing shipped but it was the wrong item. I got a refund.

Don't buy from this store. I have been waiting over two weeks for something they said they had in stock. My card was charged when I ordered but I have no information as to when or if the item will ever arrive. Customer service were unfriendly and unhelpful. They say I may have to wait another 2 weeks until the item ships and can't seem to see why waiting a month (for something they say on their website will be shipped the same business day) is a problem. As far as I know I may not even get the item. I will never buy from this store again and would certainly prefer to pay a higher price for something then put up with the service I have received from music123.

Our experience with Music123 has been a nightmare. We've tried to order things on a couple different occasions, and each time we've been given improper information about inventory stock, had issues receiving the items, been given constantly-changing delivery information, and had ridiculously ill-informed customer service conversations. I would avoid doing business with this website (which, by the way, operates under several different names) at all costs.
bad! - people online who sell items that they do not stock
are idiots and should be delt with caution. so:
1) music123.com never answered any emails
2) music123.com charged the credit card immediately and didn't ship first.
3) i was twice put on hold for more than hour (a treatment i'd sadly expect from verizon or another phone company), and than they (music123.com) lied twice to me about item being shipped. i bet there is only one customer rep. 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00
4) i still gave them 14 days to deliver such a simple thing - a stompbox and they didn't manage to do that.
5) i canceled the order and i hope i'll get my card charged back without going through the dispute.

I recently bought a guitar that was supposed to come with a free guitar bag. The guitar arrived, packaged well, but no gig bag. Since all of the other items I ordered at the same time arrived I figured I would give them a call. It took me 5 days of trying to finally get off hold and to speak to a person. I just finally decided I was going to stay on the phone no matter how long it took. I had sent two emails and had no response by then.
The rep that I spoke with was horrible. Had trouble just looking up my order and when I mentioned I was supposed to get a gig bag, had no idea what a gig bag was. All she could tell was they must be out of them but could not give me any sense that I would get one. My guess is I never will so I bought one from one of their competitors. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the guitar doesn't need repairs, I would hate to have to try and work through this process with them.
The problems I have encountered with Music123 are more than frustrating. Repeated promises from staff to assist me, we will get back to you, have provided no real help.
I placed an order with Music123 (order #1256311 totaling $1,153.56) on August 12. Some items arrive on August 18, but I expected much more. The guitar case arrived on September 3, but it is not the item described on the web. According to emails I received from Music123 and according to the information posted on the website, all items, except the guitar case, have shipped. My credit card has been charged for all items, but four of those items have not come and no one can tell me when they will come. A drum-set for my son, ordered in plenty of time for his birthday Aug 22, still has not come leaving me without a gift.
Repeated calls, emails and faxes have been left unanswered.
Feeling perturbed and dismayed at this apparent lack of concern for any decency in customer care, I am left to believe that my only recourse will be through outside mediation.

My order is now over a month, 4 phone calls, 6 e-mails old and i still havn't got my order. they gave me the same BS about moving the wharehouse i have seen in many complaints. I understand it may be a confusing time for them but... that dose not explain why my 6 e-mails have gone unansewerd and on 2 of my 4 calls to customer "service" i have been told i would be called right back and of course have never got a call from them. they did try to send my microphone after the 3rd call i made to them, but they sent me a trumpet case insted... now they will do nothing to correct my order untill they get the trumpet case back... the prices are good but they do NOT care about the customer in the least. i encourge all my "Musicion Friends" to find another on line company to order from.

Music 123 is going down the tubes. In the past my experiences were good. Now, I have been waiting ONE MONTH for my order -- noone answers the phone at customer service. the few times I have gotten through, I was given excuses about a "new warehouse" but an ABSOLUTE REFUSAL TO EXPIDITE MY ORDER IN ANY WAY. I am currently considering filing a consumer fraud compaint. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH MUSIC 123 AGAIN!
They've had the order for six weeks, charged my credit card five weeks ago, and have shipped one item of the seven I ordered. Customer service hold time is 25 to 30 minutes. They tell you things will ship in two days and a week later tell you exactly the same thing. Low prices but a total nightmare to deal with.

They are total frauds. They billed my credit card on 8/2 for a $2000+ guitar ordered on 7/22/05. It's 8/25 and I am still waiting for delivery. Customer services representatives are pathological liars. After endless phone complaints and emails (which were ignored) I threatened in my last phone call (on hold for 40 minutes)to contact the New Jersey Attorney General (they are based in Cherry Hill NJ) and lodge a complaint for fraud and deceptibe trade practices. Am thinking of notifying the FTC as well since they ship interstate. I encourage all other victims to take similar action. Oddly after my threat to take legal action, my order went from the meaningless "now shipping" status to "shipped" status. Maybe they think this will throw me off the trail for awhile. But since their order tracking device is nonfunctional I can only assume this is part of their game. The item has remained in "shipped" status now for 5 days.

I ordered a product, was charged for it, never received it, found out it wasn't in stock two months later. It takes at least 20 minutes to talk to customer service (e-mail response took two weeks). I asked for a full refund and they charged my credit card for more money!!! Never shop here!!

However, I recently attempted a larger priced instrument, and you would expect that a retailer would take better care with a larger sum of money. It was a terrible experience. The item was listed in stock (approx $2000) and promised 48 hour shipping. My card was charged immediately. After 10 days, and no product, I called customer service and was on hold for 30 minutes. I was then told that they had "recently" changed warehouses and could not "find the item." Looking back on the reviews and other lists, this "change of warehouses" has been going on for months. I never received any replies to my email inquiries; I canceled my order, and my card has yet to be credited... Maybe after a logistics overhaul this may be a good store, but I would advise you to stay away until then...

Incomplete order. 1 out of 6 items arrived. VERY POOR customer service, no response to numerous e-mails or daily phone calls. I have been a customer for over 3 years and will not buy here again. There are other stores who care about their customers.
I placed an order on July 15th ... Still have NOT rec'd the order. I have called and emailed - got the response that they're moving the warehouse, etc. Whatever - this WAS supposed to be a b'day gift (in July). This is absolutely the worst service I've ever had. At the very least when the item is shipped (if EVER) it should be FREE OVERNIGHT but I know that won't happen. I have already been charged for the item. I WILL NOT be ordering from this company again.

They take your money when it's not in stock and then let you know 9 days later it's on back order when you have to call them.
I ordered a drum mat back in November of 2004. I kept getting strung along about how soon it would be delivered. I finally CANCELLED the order in mid-April of 2005. After waiting more than 4 1/2 months, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Sometimes you get what you pay for...that goes for customer service, as well.

The downside--backorders. Don't hold your breath, and don't try to order anything you need immediately if it's on backorder. There doesn't seem to be any guarantee, and I've been waiting nearly two months for a drum head I need. Had to go somewhere locally just to get a substitute head to hold me over. Same situation with one of their guitar stands...waiting...waiting...waiting...I finally canceled that order and went to www.musiciansfriend.com to get the stand I needed.

I ordered a Michael Kelly acoustic bass from Music 123 through E-Bay and waited almost 3 weeks for delivery. I did communicate with customer service via e-mail and did get satisfactory replies, but still was a little leery of their vague answers. When the guitar finally arrived (Fed-Ex delivered it to the front porch of the house next door, and it spent a cold December night outdoors), the preamp was broken at the holder. I repaired it myself with no visible damage, but didn't bother to call Music 123 or Fed-Ex (who I'll bet would have ended up with the blame). I will probably not buy from them again. I have used Musician's Friend for several years, and have never had a problem with them.

Please avoid this business. I ordered a guitar, amp, and cable as a gift on the evening of December 24th. The next business day for processing was December 27th. However, due to inventory reasons, the order will not ship until January 5th -- 8 business days later.
The company did not inform us of its inventory process until 4-5 days following our order, so Music 123 lied about the 5-10 business-day shipping time.

I ordered a guitar advertised on November 23, 2004. It is now December 29 and still no guitar. I keep getting these polite notes saying a later date and a later date. I think this is very wrong to advertise something that can't be provided. They have not been able to do anything toward even assuring me this guitar will arrive at the latest date of Jan. 11th that is now predicted. I will not recommend their service. I ordered a guitar for my son for Christmas. The estimated ship date was December 5th. By December 14th, I hadn't heard anything so I emailed them. They then informed me that the first date was only an estimate and I should not have relied on it. They gave me a new ship date of December 27th. Now I have to scramble to find somewhere to ship the same item in time for Christmas. Very poor customer service!

I recently ordered an Epiphone Les Paul 100 and when it arrived it had an annoying buzz on the Fifth and sixth strings. I worked with an excellent rep on the phone and returned it for another which arrived in less than a week. This one had a similar problem so I upgraded to a Les Paul Standard and received this one again in under a week. Had it now for three months and it is excellent. Music123 was very helpful and understanding. They made me feel that their goal was my satisfaction. Would definitely shop there again.
Speedy delivery! Orders tend to be very accurate. I have had problems with two orders -- which the Music123 folks bent over backwards to correct (at their great cost, I might add). Orders have included microphones, mic stands, music stands, a guitar, a Fender Passport 150 sound system, guitar strings, and a mess of "other stuff" like cables and picks and God knows what else. The web site is easy to use, the catalog you'll get in the mail is attractive, the customer service is very responsive. In sum, even with a couple of glitches, I'm a repeat customer and will continue to be!

I have had only one experience with online purchase from Music123. I ordered a Yamaha Xeno trumpet, received it within a week, tried it and found it inferior to my Bach Strad 72L. I returned it to Music123 and received a credit card refund by the next billing cycle. No problems, no hassle. Incidentally, the address given for the return was the same address for returns to Woodwind & Brasswind, so maybe they share more than a web host. In any case, my experience with Music123 was not unpleasant.

Music123 uses Fedex domestic shipping exclusively.
They use UPS for international.
music123 has comparatively good prices but when it comes to waiting for an order, watch out. i purchased a guitar from them a little under a month ago, but my guitar has not even been SHIPPED yet. and i was informed that it won't be shipped for another week! the other items came promptly but waiting over a month for any item is a ridiculous way to conduct business online.

Music123 was recommended by someone I met at a gig, who mentioned that prices were attractive and delivery was speedy. I went ahead to order a replacement drumhead and sure enough, Music123 was quick to dispatch it (looking at the tracking history on the web). However, when it arrived in Britain, UPS was unable to deliver it because they did not have the full address (no prizes for guessing who was unable to provide UPS something as simple as address). Anyway, UPS proceeded to lie about how the receiver refused to sign for the goods when they eventually found the right delivery address (or perhaps, they Music123 provided them with the wrong address). When I got round to calling UPS UK, they were unhelpful to say the least. I eventually went out of my way to collect it. I dont see why I should pay premium shipping rates for such inferior service. What's the point of having really attractive prices when they cant do a competent job of delivery. Music123 has absolutely no concept of customer relations (shocking given that it is a US-based business).

I have purchased 2 major items from music123: a bass guitar last year and a bass amp recently. the bass guitar order was sluggish, but it wasn't too bad so i shrugged it off. however, the bass amp order has far failed my expectations. they said it was in stock when i ordered, and then a week or so after i order, they say its "on order from the manufactorer" and that it would be a MONTH before THEY even got it, which meant it would be a looooong time before i got my amp. if i would've known it would be this long to get the amp, i would've never ordered. the only good thing music123 has going for them is prompt customer service response, but that still doesn't make up for the absolutely ridiculous sluggishness of my order. i am very dissatisfied and i doubt i will buy anything major from music123 again.

I was in a local music store looking at a few guitars and basses and I saw a few that I was really interested in.
I decided to think about which one I wanted to buy and take a look online to see if there were any better deals going on.
I searched google for the guitar and Music123 was the first link that came up, They had the guitar in stock, factory sealed (no one was able to abuse the guitar in a local store) and NO SALES TAX!
I called up, ordered the guitar, free shipping, it arrived earlier than expected and it was PERFECT!
I've since bought another guitar and amp head from Music123, and I am always very pleased with the service and delivery.
Check them out if you're tired of paying sales tax on instruments that have pick scratches all over the front of the body.
Music123 is awesome! I have ordered many times and have always received expert advice, courteous customer service and prompt delivery. They have a customer for life in me!

Purchased a Washburn XB-120 bass guitar from Music 123 about 2 years ago. I wanted to learn to play and this bass was reasonable ($219). Delivery was a little slow, 3 weeks and poorly packaged....a cardboard box with a couple of pieces of newspaper on the sides with some nylon banding aroun the box. The guitar had a small nick on the body which I wasn't too concerned about. Although it was playable, the action was a little high so I brought it to a local shop to be set up better. The technician looked at and said the neck was "shot" (not straight) and could only make a little better. I e-mailed Music123 but never got a response I've since purchased another bass from a music store, still have the Washburn and not sure what I'm going to with it. Wouldn't purchase from Music123 again.

I recently ordered a discounted (open box) digital piano from Music123.
A day or two after I placed the order, I received an e-mail notification that the item ordered was out of stock and was on order with the vendor. I wrote back to ask how an open-box item could be on back-order. The next day I received a message informing me that another customer had ordered the same item just before I did and that there was no open-box item to sell to me. Music123 would, however, sell me a new digital piano at the open-box price.
As you might expect, I was quite pleased with this and they earned my trust by making up for their inventory error. I received the item as promised and in pristine condition.

I was disappointed in the fact that Music123 sent me a guitar and a case, and the case didn't fit the guitar. Obviously you are completely on your own when buying from the Music123 website so be sure you know exactly what you're doing. Music123 customer service was unapologetic and in 2 sentences essentially told me "sorry pal, it's your problem"...don't expect much in the way of service from this company, they definitely will not go outside their very tight lines of service.

I too was a bit worried after reading some not so good reviews about Music 123. But I ordered a Ludwig Accent Combo LR1125RC Drum Set from them and everything went fine. A drummer in the Sales Dept. helped me decide on a set suitable for my daughter since I know nothing about drum sets. He explained the differences between a couple of sets and I was able to make a decision. He took my order on a Friday afternoon, said it would ship the following Tues. and to expect it to arrive the following Friday thru Tues. and sure enough it was there Saturday. They also matched Same Day Music's price and shipped for $8.00 less than Same Day. The set is just beautiful and arrived in perfect condition. Overall I was very happy with the entire experience - no complaints and I was very happy with the cheaper shipping too.

About a week into the order there was some confusion (probably caused by me changing the tuner 3 times)and the order was put on hold. They asked me if I intended to cancel and I told them I needed the order ASAP. I talked to customer service and they were very helpful. They upgraded my order and it was shipped overnite (no charge) and arrived on Tuesday all in good shape. I still have the case on backorder but I'd expect it to show up once they get it. I just ordered a new ESP guitar and Marshall amp from music 123 along with several guitar accesories including an effects pedal. They were the least expensive price on the internet. All my gear was in stock and shipped within one day of when they said and i got it one day before they said i would. I had seen some bad reviews, but I had no problem with them. I actually had a question on my guitar, the site showed it as a 22 fret and it was just a misprint, and the rep assured me it had 24 frets. I would buy from them again for sure.

I ordered an ESP H-202 in See Thru Green December 14, 2003. It was a close out item for $219 List Price of $499. I was told it would probably arrive late because I ordered it just before Christmas 2003 with the Free Shipping option and they said 3 day delivery (a $39 shipping option)was being given priority. When you have to pay shipping on a few items, it's not worth buying them because the shipping makes the item too expensive for what you get. I placed my order online & completely filled out the shipping address form including my company name which is part of the address. I work in a building with several companies on my floor, without the company name the package may not find it's way to me in a timely fashion or at all.

Sadly Music123 just isn't what it used to be. There was a time when I'd place an order one day, and receive it the next (I am fairly close to them). Now I am kept in the dark, and have no idea when to expect my items. Also there is a serious lack of musical instrument knowledge when dealing with a backorder (was shown to be in stock when ordered) where I really would have liked some input on a suitable alternative. I just guessed on what to buy, am not happy with my ultimate purchase, but I am either stuck with it - or do without as I made my purchase on the now defunct Music123 / Wells Fargo credit card.

This was the single worst experience buying anything I ever had. I ordered the 14" Floor Tom and recieved a 10" tom instead. They told me that the shipping label to return it would be in the mail in 3 days. I called a week later to find out it was e-mail they were talking about and finally got it shipped back. Real easy and helpful, don't have much bad things to say. The only negative is a outlet item I ordered prior to this order wasn't available after the order was processed. i purchased online a small b grade amp, in stock, it said. i had to call to find out that it was in limited supply and the last one was sold before my purchase. your online tracking was a confusing "in store credit or something like that. i have to admit i was insulted by the offer to sell me a new one at 80 cents off the price of a new one. you must realize how this sounds in print. big whoop. The items that I ordered went in and out of back order status, and the associates on the phone had no idea whether they were in stock or not. One associate told me the items had been shipped, and another told me that they would not ship until May. I eventually substituted the items for something else, and I received these without any further problems. Total time spent on the phone resolving the issue - 3 hours. Read more
