Great Deals that will never be fulfilled? I hope they prove me wrong!

What looked like a great deal has turned into a nightmare. When I ordered a Fender Acoustic amp two weeks ago the site said "In Stock." Then the availability date changed to a few days in the future...no problem...then a week... and then the date changed to two months in the future!
Strangely, the amp became available again last night (Friday) and then went back to the January 2007 date this morning. Hmmm. Is someone playing games?
Customer service gives brilliant and incisive responses such as "We didn't have enough to fill your order." That helps a great deal. Even my daughter's viola strings are back ordered. The D'Addario headquarters is just a half hour away here in NY. I could walk there faster and pick them up myself.

Placed an order on 06/03/2007. After 27 days of waiting I cancelled my order. Spent numerous hours on the phone with customer service just to hear they have no clue of what's going on at their warehouse and cannot contact anyone there to resolve the issue. And they are a to 50 e-Commerce company. My time is too valuable. Don't waste yours!

Worst experience EVER!!  Ordered a 64gb Ipod Touch on the 3rd of November.  Item didn't ship until the 6th.  I was assured via phone, website, and email that the item was being shipped USPS Priority to my home in Guam (a U.S. Territory).  After 2 weeks, called to get a tracking status (the tracking info in the e-mail didn't work).  I was told that it was shipped 4th class, in complete violation of their own shipping policy.  Was also told that if the item never arrived, or was damaged in shipping that there was nothing they could or would do about it because they have a no return/refund policy for ipods.  (something also in violation of their shipping policies)  Their customer service reps didn't care about our situation.  I am in the Military, and have had hundreds of things purchased and shipped all over the world.  I have never been treated like this before.   DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

Maybe I am just lucky, but I've placed orders 4 different times with Musician's Friend over the last year, and each went very smoothly without any problems. Very speedy delivery -- my most recent order for a guitar amplifier took only 1.5 days from the time I ordered it until the time UPS delivered it! I would order again from them without hesitation.

Buyer beware - if you need your gear by a certain date

I will agree with most of what has been written, but I was very unsatisfied with my experience. Took them almost 2 weeks to tell me something was out of stock, even though it was in stock when I placed my order. I was assured during those 2 weeks that it was shipping the following day, only to be lied to by several different customer service people. I was very upset when I called, and they were professional and told me what I wanted to hear to keep me from cancelling the order, and I felt better after talking to someone. Nobody could tell me when my backordered amp would ship, so I then upgraded to a more expensive item, and was told it would ship overnight due to the problems with my order, and I just received confirmation that it has shipped, but by ground service. If I knew it would take 3 weeks to ship something that they claim they have in stock, I would have ordered from someone else. I certainly won't order from them again.

I got ripped off $50 due to an idiot employee

They ripped me off $50! I returned an item the day after I got it, the idiot on the phone had me send it back as damaged because she didn't know what an "RA" number was (this is what they tell you to ask for on their website to return an item!!!)

I got charged $50, and MF refused to refund the money despite the fact that their employee gave me the wrong directions!

Boycott MF!

It's been great! Had a bad package power amp sent. Called right away and they sent a mint new box 2nd day air at their own expense so I could use for my gig coming up. Among other things their site is amongst the best as well and makes shopping nice process. I'd recommend both them and american musical supply. I read a review below about them that was way off base negative, sad experience but hasn't been mine, inspired this quick note. I've got some samples of quick recordings done with some of the gear at www.prokaraoke.net (shameless plug :), now I'm still learning how to record and make best use of the gear but it's sweet and came perfect.

My latest purchase from Musician's Friend was altogether positive. I bought a Line 6 Bass PodXT Live. Order was processed promptly, shipped on time and easy to track. It arrived in perfect condition (thank you UPS for a safe dellivery -- you are not always so careful!). No complaints. Price was that of other honest major distributors.
Previous to that I ordered a Taktell metronome. The package was shipped without damage, but the metronome cover was cracked in a corner, I assume, not from shipping, as it was well padded. Tsk. Tsk. Shame on you ;)!

I've had many good shopping experiences with Musician's friend. I can't believe their Epinions rating is lower than Music123.com, which is a joke in comparison. MF has similar prices but employs knowledgeable staff which you can actually reach by phone. They have a real Customer Service line too...imagine that, Music123.

Sell cheaper part number under expensive model number

This MusicianFriend is not a friend of any musician, they cheat and swapping items they advertised. I ordered an EV-204 Yamaha violin, but the order confirmation has no part number, rather saying that is Yamaha high performance silent violin. There are many Yamaha silent violin, without part number, it would not mean anything. Then I dig in their web site and compared the description with Yamaha site and realized they actually put under my order a SV-200, which was not that good. The EV-204 they have another listing for $1089.

So I look around, find from another place called InterState Music, they sell EV-204 actually cost less than this place's SV-200.

I would not buy from this "musicianfriend" any more. Trick you in with advertising for one part number and sell you a lower quality one. bad practice!

Musicians Friend ? or Musicians Fiend ?

Musicians Friend is no friend of mine. I ordered a BOSE PAS. It ships in 4 pieces and I rec'd 3. I traced it and found the 4th pc had been mistakenly delivered to Bose. I called Bose and they had kept the package and credited it to Musicians Friend. All MF had to do is resend me the missing piece. I called them daily for a status and it was like speaking to them for the first time, every time. "It's missing? What Piece is missing?"
After 2 weeks they still did nothing so I asked to speak to managers. They were very unconcerned with resolving the issue and said it takes 10 days to run a trace. Oh by the way, they started the trace 2 weeks after I reported the package missing and another week or so to waiting on shipping. I finally told them to pick up the other 3 pieces. I can reorder it direct from Bose, pay a little more, but I'll have access to good tech support and excellent customer service FOR A CHANGE!

I recently purchased a guitar gig bag from Musician's Friend that they recommended for my guitar. When the bag arrived it was too small for my semi-hollow electric guitar. I contacted them for a return authorization. Since Musician's Friend had recommended the bag incorrectly they said they would refund the shipping costs; all I had to do was fax a copy of the shipping bill. More trouble followed. Musician's Friend gave me a fax number that no longer worked. Then they gave me a second fax number that no longer worked. Then they said they would not reimburse me, after I had shipped the product back. Then they said write a letter to management. If you’re going to shop at Musician's Friend you have to ask yourself: “Do you feel lucky?”

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS.... if you want to be sure of a stress free transaction. I ordered a 8 track digital recorder ($399) and was told it would be at my place in 4 days. Its been 7 days and they really have know idea where my package is except that it was never loaded on the truck from there warehouse. They told me that I had to wait another 2 days at least before they will do anything about it. I dealt with 3 different customer service people and really got the run around. I still have no idea wear my order is and if I am even going to get it. I would never ever think of doing business with them again. Its an uneasy feeling knowing they have $400 of mine and no information where my order is. I wonder how easy it will be to get my money back from these people?

Needed new drum heads to hit the recording studio. Website said they were in stock..that was a lie. Had I known I was going to have to wait an extra two weeks to get my heads because they were on backorder I would not have shopped at Musician's Friend. Well, rather then talking about what I would not have done, I've simply decided never to shop here again... Not until you learn to manage a website so I have accurate information.

One item of my order (electric guitar strings) was back ordered. When it finally shipped, it was apparently shipped via the slowest method and I have been unable to track it, nor have I yet received this item (over 1 1/2 weeks later). I sent an email via the website at least 6 days ago and have still not received a response to that. I called customer service last week and was told that, since they shipped it via USPS, there was nothing that they could do except reship if it hasn't arrived by January 2nd. As this was a Christmas present, that response was not what I was hoping for. I am very disappointed that a) the backordered item was shipped via the slowest method without asking me if that would be adequate; b) that neither I nor they were able to track the package; c) that I have still not received a response to my email; and d) that they were so unresponsive to my phone call - there was still time to have reshipped the item via a faster method.

First guitar ordered they said was backordered till March 7 but then they backordered again till April 4, which was not very acceptable. We cancelled that order and had to order a different one, but everything has been fine with everything else we've ordered from them.

Great experience.....repeat customer and will continue to shop here. Unnaceptable for tracking was that I was unable to track with the number provided....especially to Canada and when I phoned they couldn't track it either.

This is one of the only sites that I will order on-line from. The only deficiencies that I have encountered from them are; 1) I have received a few packages that were in fairly poor condition because they didn't "UPS proof" them well enough. 2) I watch the package progress through their web-site and sometimes the order status doesn't keep up with the order very well. All in all these are not very big issues and I have always been satisfied with their customer service. I have never had a problem getting things straightened out through them.
