I found that the hotel that booked had been falsely advertised, when I tried to correct the problem they told me there would be a $25 charge.

After the lower prices I would have expected, I actually paid more for my airline tickets because of the service fee. I certainly would never use Orbitz again. I wrote to Customer Service and the answer was basically - tough luck. Back to Expedia for me! Never had that problem with them!

My boyfriend and I were planning for a long time to go to L.A. and one day we finally decided to go. We went online and picked out a "nice hotel", at least on the picture it was a nice hotel. When we got there, after six hours of driving , we were so tired that all we wanted was to go to sleep. Since my boyfriend is not 21 yet, at the hotel they said that he can't have the room, even though we already paid for it. After talking to the manager, they apologized and supposedly gave us the "best room" they had. The room was awful. The TV was 20 years old if not more, and they checked us out the day before we were supposed to.

Don't advertise a false price that you cannot honor!

I was trying to make a reservation on Thursday, 10/29/2009 for a 4 nights stay in Washington DC in January. So I happily log in to Orbitz and search for hotels. It shows up Crowne Plaza Hotel THE HAMILTON - WASHINGTON DC for average nightly rate of $90 (That is AVERAGE NIGHTLY RATE). I was kind of thrilled because the rate was pretty good, but when I selected it, the rate immediately changed to $177 average nightly rate! I was shocked, but fine, I thought the rate has just changed. So I close my browser, re-open and try to search again. And it turned out $90 again, but not allowing me to book at that price. I called the customer service and their reply was that the hotel has changed the rate. If the rate has changed, the website should have reflected that. This is just wrong to consumer that you show $90 on the front page and when the customer selected it, it immediately jumped to $177! Totally disappointed and disgusted with what Orbitz is doing to the consumer. This is just wrong! If you can't sell at that price, DON'T ADVERTISE IT!

ORBITZ IS THE PITZ.

Orbitz 'required' me to accept paper tickets for a trip I booked.  I discovered later from Orbitz that this is (allegedly) because the two well known U.S. airlines I selected 'do not have a reciprocal agreement' for electronic ticketing.  The tickets arrived, but were not real tickets with boarding passes attached. Instead, I had to check in at the ticket counter for each segment of the trip to obtain a real paper ticket/boarding pass. In addition to this major inconvenience, I was unable to get seat assignments in advance for some reason that Orbitz could not explain.  And for these delights, I was charged an extra $23 service fee on top of the $6.95 service fee.  None of these problems were described when I made the reservations and the purchase. When I called to try to fix the mess, Orbitz was less than no help at all.  STAY AWAY.  Use them to compare fares and to bargain with other services, but do not do business with Orbitz.  Their customer service, if you can understand them, are of no help whatsoever, they don't tell you about issues in advance, and they charge extra fees for the crappy service.

Orbitz rocks!  They fully refunded my "non-refundable" ticket because I had to cancel within the first 24 hours after purchase.  Try getting ANY airlines to do that these days!  They did not charge me any fee at all.  I was skeptical of their promise of a "courtesy cancellation" but sure enough after about two weeks, the full amount was refunded to the credit card I had used.  I will always use only Orbitz from now on.

The booking was easy, but afterwards the transaction turned nightmarish when it turned out the hotel information on Orbitz was completely incorrect (hotel was located 2.5 hours from where the city it was supposed to be in) and Orbitz refused to help with either the cancellation or the fraudulent charges subsequently made by the hotel. Customer service was polite but unable or unwilling to fix or help. Result is that we are currently fighting over $1800 in hotel charges at a place we never stayed at and will have to make numerous international calls to fix the problem that started with Orbitz's site having bad information (which is still there despite our complaints). Stay away.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

The hotel did not have what was advertised on the orbitz website, a pool,fitness center and restaurant. When I called they told me that the website did not say that it had any of these things and told me that I was lying. Upon arriving home and looking at the website, it was listed right there and I called again to Orbitz and she told me that this information should not be on the website because the hotel does not have these things. Those 3 things are I paid $250.00 for a hotel room in Chicago and I did not get any of them, I only got ripped off. Do NOT use Orbitz!!!!! Plus they charged me a $62.00 service fee for using Orbitz.(And they could't help me find a hotel that had the things I wanted) This was found out by the hotel giving me a receipt that they were not supposed to that showed their rate at $196.00(tax included) but yet Orbitz charged me $251.00. Customer service told me that I was not supposed to receive this receipt becasue it was a privacy matter. DO NOT USE ORBITZ

Great prices and easy to use!

We just returned from vacation and this was the first time that I used an on-line travel service. Because the trip was a bit last-minute I decided to research on the Internet.
When I came across Orbitz I was really surprised by the ease of use of the Site, and the prices!
About the only complaint that I have about the Site is that a few pages took quite a while to load. But other than that, everything went perfectly!

my first time and i think the last that i booking with Orbitz....i decided that was the best offer in compare at others ...but it was a big mistake....i had book for the package trip and after just 20 minute i needed to change the flight of my return so i called the call center and they were not really nice......i had paid $460 of fees just to change the time with the same company airline......only after 20 minute!!!this is unbeliveble.......i did not have any other canche.....and more the person was looking for a less prize...more the prize was going up.....
also after paid the fees i never receved an email from orbitz custemer service with the changed flight(already paid!!!)....i been calling them 3 times for get the email wich was show up the change......they did not even know what i was talking about....finally after a very very long call the person on the phone understood my request.....and finally i got my answer.....
It was not easy to comunicate with them!!!

Orbitz is good place if you just want to buy a ticket online and if you do not have any issues. But the time you try to call them, problems start: employees are not polite, they periodically hang up on you, interrupt you all the time, and transfer you to one person to the other about 5 times before to try to help you.
So my advice: find a good deal on Orbitz and then, go to the airline company website and book the ticket! Maybe you will pay a little bit more (usually between $10-$30) but in case of problems this is definitively a better solution.

Good for Flights, Not Hotels

I use Orbitz all the time for booking flights, and their prices are very competitive, but avoid Orbitz for hotels.  We booked a hotel several days in advance, but when we arrived the hotel told us that Orbitz had "canceled" our reservation.  Of course, Orbitz did manage to charge our credit card $144 for the room, but we had to pay the full $180 to stay at the hotel.
Orbitz's customer service refused to refund my money at first, so I had to spend over an hour on the phone with them.  They only refunded the $144 they charged, so I had to swallow an additional $35 that I could have saved by using another site like Travelocity.  Side Note: it's actually illegal for them not to refund the full $180 I paid for the room, but who has time to fight with a faceless corporation over the additional $35?
The customer service person explained that you should always book hotel rooms on Orbitz at least 2 weeks in advance so that Orbitz has time to notify the hotel that you've made a reservation.  For that reason, I won't be booking hotels on Orbitz anymore.

I have stayed in many hotels for many nights.  My experience with Orbitz was the worst:  I made the mistake of booking the Hotel Emporio in Mexico City through Orbitz.  During my stay, the room had numerous problems, including backed up plumbing causing the room to smell like a sewer, air conditioner outages causing the room to be like a sauna, and bellboys ignoring the "do not disturb signs" and knocking on the door at 2:00 am.  After a couple of problems, I contacted Orbitz asking them to contact the management about a partial refund.  Barring that, I said that I was willing to change hotels.  From the first contact, they simply repeated their "no refunds under any circumstances" policy, and played for time, knowing that once I had left the property, I would have no recourse.  I tried to get a partial refund, without success.
In summary, if there are any problems with anything, no matter what, including safety issues, Orbitz will not issue a credit, nor allow you to modify any part of your reservation.
Avoid them like the plague.

BAD BAD BAD!

I had a terrible experience with orbitz. My flight was changed so that the new flight not only gave me an 8 hr layover but also got me to my foreign destination at 3am. When I called orbitz to try and change this I wasted 90 minutes on 3 separate phone calls being shuffled around until finally I was told I could call the airlines direct. It was terrible. Then, I requested that they refund my ticket and was told that it would take three months to show on my credit card. DO NOT USE THIS SITE. It's easy for booking but if something should go wrong they will not help!
