Pros: Lots of great stuff. Cons: Haven't found any yet!
Orvis.com has a lot of great goodies for anyone, especially pet owners. Some categories are:fly fishing, women's clothing, men's clothing, travel, country home, wingshooting, a sale room and gifts. They were founded in 1856 Charles F. Orvis founds...

Ordered: bag. Bag = per Orvis, $175 luxury good; per me, what you'd expect to find in a low-rent mall at one of those weird cart things. Rather different from the picture. Return experience was fine. But... LIARS! LIARS! Orvis.com now features user ...

For years I've wanted a pair of Gokey pull-on boots, but at $325 a pair, it was always a little to rich for my wallet. I was surfing around March 16 and saw that the boots were on sale for $199, so being that I recently got a big job promotion, I took ...

I have always been a fan of Orvis and believe that they have offered a good product at a good value. Too, their customer service was second to none.
However, their e-commerce leaves much to be desired. After ordering a briefcase from their...

I have always found Orvis products to be of high quality and reasonable pricing. Such a large and reputable company should have equally good standards for customer service but this has not been my experience. After a recent move to a new home with all ...

I've ordered from Orvis many times, mostly fly fishing equipment - rods, reels, fly tying supplies and the like. It's a good on line catalog. They offer good and responsive technical support. Their fishing gear, sort of their roots, is a very good buy...

Orvis is one of those mail-order houses that have been in business forever. Their reputation is great, quality is high, and customer service couldn't be better.
You'll find basic simples styles for men and women. Don't expect big changes in...

Fast site; good sale search; excellent guarantee!
by davermont ,May 12 '04
This site is quick to load and easy to find your way around. They have a size finding page in their sale room that shows just the items in my size that are in stock and on sale! And Orvis has always stood behind their 100% guarantee.

polite, but do something about your delivery service, it is unacceptable.
by pharmacylaw ,Jan 17 '04
I have often shopped at the orvis store in New York City and the products and service were excellent. However, I ordered a dog coat from the store on a Monday morning and although the phone rep said that it could take 5-10 business days for delivery via US mail,(unless I wanted to pay extra for faster delivery) I erroneously presumed that this was a pessimistic prediction to cover themselves. Wrong! The temperature has been in the single digits in my area and the coat finally arrived on a Thursday evening, a full 10 days after ordering. Why? Because they sent it "bulk rate"! This is the same class as junk mail, and is not only unbefitting a quality store like theirs, but is unique to any mail order house that I have ever used, including Woolrich and LL Bean (both excellent) and Eddie Bauer! Come on guys, at the prices that you charge (even on sale) I think first class or UPS or fedEx is in order!

Extremely unsatisfactory. Not recommending them.
by jokan70 ,May 05 '06
ORVIS has got to be the slowest company I have ever dealt with before.
My first order took nearly two weeks to receive. Then since a shirt didn't fit, I returned it and had hoped to order another in it's place. Well, I certainly changed my mind.
I shipped the return item by UPS & of course kept the tracking number. I discovered they received my return package in their Returns Dept on May 1st ... & as of today, May 5, they still have not logged it in as received. It was signed for, so I know they have it.
When I emailed them regarding this, they said the turn around time after an item is received is 2 - 3 weeks. This is when I said no way & canceled the replacement order! I assume they will also be extremely slow in refunding my money.
Very very disappointed. I have ordered from so very many catalog companies for years and have never had such poor service.

There is a salesman at the Preston Center store in Dallas, TX that is exceptionally knowledgeable about all there is to know about fly fishing. If you have a chance, look him up. His name is Ron Foster. IMPRESSIVE.
