Placing the order (Nr.913524 from August 4,2005) was not a problem.The item was payed in full( 4,044.06 US)the August 5,2005´.It was a gift for my wife (bracelet)for the 45th. aniversary of our marriage.The custom duty was includet in the price.This bracelet is kept since September 12,in the Malaga(Spain)airport customs because the parcel was declared by Overstock-Comerxia as having 12(twelve)dollars value and the custom duty was not payed.I send many E-mails and Faxes to Overstock and Comerxia and I still not have recived any answer until today October 21,2005.

frustrating, returns are a hassle

My experience at Overstock has been mixed at best. The prices can be very good, but other times they're not spectacular. The most frustrating thing, though, is the hassle in returning unsatisfactory items.
I bought a duvet cover over 2 months ago and have been trying to return it because it's defective; I've been assured repeatedly that the free mailing label will be sent to my email account in "24-48 hours"... and this has been going on for the last month and a half. A check on the Better Business Bureau website shows that about half of their thousand or so complaints are for problems returning things.
And if you just don't like the item, they'll charge a $4.95 restocking fee. So if you choose to buy something on Overstock (which is not something I plan to do again), be very careful...

Overstock.com didn't ship my entire order, and the company refused to give me a refund. Instead, I received a voucher valued at about 60 percent of what I paid for the item that the company never sent. That was my only experience with the Website.

Prices no bargain but did recieve the item!

I browse the site to crosscheck prices. I don't know where these other reviewers are shopping but the prices are definitely no bargain at Overstock.com. A tactic they use is to show an item way overpriced and put a sold out slash over it. Next to this item will be a similar one at a lesser price (but still no bargain). The ploy here is to lead the brain damaged shoppers to believe an even better bargain is still available. Better buy it quick they think, as they drool into the keyboard... Come on people do your home work and don't get ripped off. One last note... Make sure the retailer is reputable (again do your homework) and don't forget sales tax if applicable and shipping costs! Anyone that thinks the prices are great at Overstock.com should have their bank accounts closed and credit cards revoked!

Great place to purchase DVDs from!

I always liked Overstock's DVD prices. The shipping is cheap and no tax for California! Shipping for me generally took less than a week to get to my place after I placed my order, so I'm satisfied with that.
Yeah... Overstock is a great place for shopping DVDs and that's all I know. I heard bad news about purchasing their refurbished electronic section, but I wouldn't know.
Highly recommended if you're into purchasing DVDs from this place.

Don't even think about buying sheets / bedding from this site. They offer high quality sheets--but you end up with rather cheap--not as advertised--sheets. Note: when they say 1000 thread count sheets--that does not mean you will actually get 1000 TC sheets.

I received a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law which she bought from Overstock.com. I wanted to return the gift and she included a page from the web site explaining the process.
I would have to pay for the return shipping and three seperate restocking fees. This would have used up half the value of the gift. Plus, they wanted her to do the return.
I explained multiple time that it was a gift and I'd rather not let her know I was returning it but they wouldn't look up her records and compare the upc codes. Also, I reiterated that using up half the value to just return a gift didn't seem right.

Second quality merchandise and TERRIBLE service

DVD set I purchased was defective - and there is NO recourse if it is opened - not even store credit. So I have a $50 dud DVD set. The DVDs are just DUDS - not one of them plays properly. Shoes I purchased arrived in PRE-WORN condition - PRE-WORN - complete with with heel scuffs and traction marks. Overstock did take these back, but I could only get store credit at this awful place since this was a PayPal purchase. Customer service couldn't CARE LESS and is only a group of automated service robots sending fill in the blank email replies. Dealing with this type of service is completely frustrating and insulting. The LAST STRAW - the REFURBISHED DVD player (purchased with store credit) died PRECISELY one week after the 20 day return policy time period expired. So, thanks Overstock for shoddy, useless second and third quality merchandise that is garbage. I hope everyone is wary before purchasing from this store.

I buy on the internet all the time mostly eBay but smaller merchants as well. I have never experienced more headaches and frustration as buying on this so-called commerce website. They double charged then refused to cancel one charge - then they sent the wrong shoe size.
And just try and return something - WOW I had no idea i was in for this. Disreputable company with poor customer service and policies. THEY WILL NOT VALUE YOUR BUSINESS NOR YOU AS A CUSTOMER!
If you decide to try it you will be disappointed - simply not worth it.
Oh yeah, DO NOT USE THIS SITE WITH MOZILLA FIREFOX - i was double charged and received the incorrect size item even after speaking with a rep who assured me she would fix it.

Product reviews are a scam and poor quality

I also submitted a negative review of a product and it was never posted. It is an absolute scam to post only good product ratings and reviews. The whole process is disingenuous. It lures one into thinking that the product is of a much higher quality than what you receive. Your decision to buy is based on positive reviews that are not balanced by bad experiences. It makes you wonder whether the positive reviews are from real people? Are the posters ( or impostors ) employed by Overstock.com? The product I purchased was a gift that I paid over $90 for and wound up being embarrassed by. I will not be shopping Overstock.com again any time soon.

I've been an Overstock customer for about 5 years.
In the past no major issues, since I've kept all my purchases.
They have the worst return/customer support.
I'm still waiting to return defective items.
Do not buy from them.
For better products, pricing and customer service,
I recommend 'Smart Bargains'.

Instead of receiving the children's book I ordered I received a rock photography coffee table book which Overstock.com told me to keep rather than ship back. I have no use for this item. They gave me a credit for the price of the children's book I ordered shipping so I can still order the item but I am annoyed by the inconvenience. I would have preferred them to reship the order faster with no additional expense to me. I will use the credit but I'm not sure I will use it to buy the same item.

I ordered the item on 07/11/06 and on 07/24/06 I placed a call to the call center to indicate that I have not recieved the item after 10 business days. The rep could not tell me why the product was never shipped. They did an internal inquiry to find out why. However they would not refund me immediantly. I have to wait another 10 business days so they can find out why they never shipped the product. I should not have to wait for a refund when the product never left the warehouse! I ordered a replacement item at a higher cost. The customer service rep was unable to expedite the order and advised me I could wait another 10 business days for the replacement item. Completely unacceptable service!!!

I have made several purchases from Overstock, always great prices, quickly delivered. In one case I had to make a return due to a manufacturer's defect, the item was replaced and return shipping tag was sent via e-mail. The whole process went very smoothly. I wish our brick-and-mortar merchants offered the service level of Overstock

I was very happy. Merchandise was easy to find. I really like the buyers
survey, it was a great help in my decision on which topper
to purchase. Merchandise was shipped out promptly and received in a timely manner and the cost was almost free [$1.00] so nice when so many online stores charge high shipping and 'handling' fees.

My items were delivered in good condition on time althought my city and state was incorrect. UPS corrected the address without incident. My only gripe is that the canister set price increased $10 the same day while the item was in my shopping cart. Customer service could do nothing about it. Customers, check your prices!!!!!

tryng to return stuff is a problem, the re-stock makes me thing about buying. I ordered several things at the sametime and had to return them and payed a re stock on each and postage but I sent them back in the same box not diffrent but I paid as I sent them alone. I do like the savings but they need to make returns on the same order more user friendly
